I started writing in the iron age of roleplaying games, back in about 1986, writing material for FASA's Battletech before moving on to other products like Shadowrun, Bard Games' Talislanta, and TSR's second edition of Dungeons and Dragons. I loved this boxed set, it set up magical realms that leaned into the ways in which Forgotten Realms isn’t just the real world + magic, but a world in which magic shapes societies and governments and daily life. The adventures are solid and felt specific to the region, rather than generic fantasy that just happens to include the places and people mentioned.
