And the cutest couple award goes to....

So this is where I am supposed to say I received this free and blah blah blah. But here's the deal, yea, it was free for review. But here's the bigger deal, doesn't matter if you give me something free or not, I am highly opinionated and you're going to get my real thoughts and feelings. So suck it. =)

That being said, I seriously adored this wee book. A few short pages. A couple of hours. And usually, I am not of the novella type. Just not enough character

A Study in Scandal is a sweet little novella that can be read any time after the second book in Caroline Linden's delightful Scandalous series. This story is about Samantha, key secondary character in Book 2 and younger sister of Benedict (the hero of Book 3). Up to this point, we have seen a sad, withdrawn Samantha who has been made into a quiet shell of herself due to the harsh emotional abuse of her father, the Earl of Stratford. In this novella, all of that finally changes.

In a fit of terror
This novella falls between books two and three (It Takes a Scandal and Love in the Time of Scandal) in Caroline Linden’s Scandalous series, and tells the story of Lady Samantha Lennox, the sister of Benedict (hero of book three) and daughter of the cruel and dictatorial Earl of Stratford.

Ms Linden very quickly outlines Samantha’s backstory in the first chapter, but readers of the other books will know that when little more than a girl, she stole a large sum of money from her father in order to

Loved it! I wanted to read Samantha's story so bad. Caroline Linden created another romantic, sweet and passionate story in a short novella that you can read in one day.
I am not usually fond of the novella but I loved this one, everything about this short story is perfect. Caroline had Gray and Samantha in Love in the Time of Scandal as secondary characters, I was so curious how they met and fell in love.
Samantha is a sweet and beautiful girl with a horrible father. She made a mistake few year

Isn't this cover beautiful? Sometimes it's hard to give a novella 5 stars, but not this time. I loved Samantha and Gray's story which is part of Caroline Linden's wonderful Scandalous series. This book can be read as a stand alone book.

Samantha is Benedict Lennox's sister. If you've read Ben's story in "Love in the Time of Scandal" you will know how truly horrible their father was. This story takes place right before Ben's. Samantha escapes her father's plans for her by going to London, where sh

This a great addition to the scandalous series. Samantha is a kind and independent and she makes such a good match with George. He is sweet to her and just wants to keep her safe. A great little adventure and a few moments that have you hoping that there will that happy ever after.

As reviewed at Roses Are Blue:

Lady Samantha Lennox is carrying the guilt of an act of theft she committed years ago. While the theft wasn't for her own benefit, and was intended to right a wrong, the results had the opposite effect than she'd hoped. Unable to live with the lie any longer, Samantha decides to confess her actions to her cruel father, despite her mother and brother begging her not to. She hopes that her genuine remorse will soften her father's hard heart, but
“Do you remember what I said earlier? About being a little bit in love with you?”
His eye opened, gleaming at her like a cat’s.
“I lied,” Samantha whispered, touching the corner of his mouth. “I’m more than a little bit in love with you.”
“Good,” he murmured back. “Because I’m utterly mad about you, my darling.”

I inhaled A Study in Scandal in a single sitting, punctuated only by copious amounts of swooning and grinning on my end. Samantha and Gray were absolutely charming and shared a sweet, breath

I received an eARC at no cost from the author, and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review. Thank you.

Although not a fan of novellas, it’s always a pleasure to read the one written by Caroline Linden.

The hero, Lord George, is an artist, and the way the author describes his works, and his portraits of Lady Samantha, is so good you can visualize them perfectly when reading.

I liked the chemistry and spark you could feel between the main charact

My first Caroline Linden. It was an ok read. I didn't find it very memorable or special. But it was a smooth story.

I do find the style a bit too modern for my taste though. "50 ways to Sin"? Ring a bell for anyone? And calling your future father-in-law papa? I don't know. It doesn't seem appropriate for the period. Maybe I am too used to brooding heros who have difficult relationships with their fathers. George's father the Duke seems too much like a modern loving dad.

The scenes of them ~living together was so idyllic, it felt a bit like the Chanel perfume commercials.
What a wonderful novella!
Samantha is the daughter of the Earl of Stratford, an art connoisseur and ultimate villain. When he finds out she stole some money from him eight years ago and gave it to one of his enemies, he decides to marry her to a knowingly violent man.
Desperate, Samantha runs away and ends up in London being chased by ruffians.
George is a younger son of a Duke and a very talented painter.
Their ways cross and it is so romantic and lovely!
Great novella!

After 7 years of keeping her secret, Lady Samantha Lennox is finally going to confess to her father that it was her and not Sebastian Vale that stole the money from him. The Earl of Stratford is a cold, ruthless man with an obsession for perfection, his family is terrified of him. But Samantha will not be the reason that Sebastian cannot marry the love of his life. Her father takes the news oddly well and does not rage or punish her, when a few days pass with no repercussions, she thinks that ma ...more

What a wonderful and compelling book! Having read several thousand romances💕 in the past couple of years, this short book rates among the five best I have ever read!
There is just something about the entire book that struck me as sincere. It's a true 💘love story that will stand the test of time...

I was immediately drawn into the plight of Samantha💃💔, caged by society and her controlling, severe, and overbearing father, Earl of Stratford👹. Her father manipulates his e

I was surprised how much was included in this novella. This was a good paced read with plenty of action. The two main characters, Samantha and Gray were very likeable. Samantha showed she had spirit by her actions, even though her father ruled his household very severely. Gray was all you would want in a hero, brave, kind hearted, talented and handsome. This was an entertaining read with two very different fathers and a passionate romance. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All ...more
Finished this yesterday so I should probably write a review before I forget, but...this was fine? I'm not as thrilled by her novellas, the full-length novels are definitely better, but I did like this one better than the other novella in the series.

3.5. Cute, easy, quick read. Artist hero IS ALWAYS A CATNIP FOR ME.
This novella was a good addition to the series—although why it’s numbered after Benedict’s book when this is set before it, I don’t understand.

Samantha and Gray don’t really spend much time getting to know one another—many of the scenes they share have them quietly working or dancing or strolling—so I didn’t feel their characters were as well-developed as Caroline Linden has done in the other books.

Lady Samantha Lennox has always feared her father, the Earl of Stratford. An art collector, to the world at large he appears to be a proud man. However, his family knows of his arrogant feelings of superiority to everyone. He is a cruel man with exacting standards, of which few could hope to meet. Samantha, her mother, sisters and brother, Benedict, all lead a life of scrutiny from the Earl as he looks for perfection in all of them.

I really loved this book! My only complaint is that it was a novella. I found both the hero and heroine endearing with a wonderful chemistry between the two. I would have loved to see this couple explored in a full length novel...and yes, a part of that is that I never want to see a great story end!

Caroline Linden's writing seems so effortless, and I've always been able to lose myself in her storylines. Her characters are so richly developed and real that I've often felt like I've lost someone I
3 stars for this cute novella with one BIG problem.  I'm surprised that other reviewers haven't noticed this: there are no, zero, nil skunks in the wild in England!  I don't want to give anything away, but the hero, an artist, draws a picture of a skunk for the heroine at 2 major plot turning points in the story. However, the likelihood of his knowing what a skunk looks like is minimal - maybe he's seen a stuffed example in a museum? - and even smaller for the heroine, who has lived an extremel ...more

I enjoy Caroline Linden's books. I love how she shows her characters falling in love. This book is no exception. The hero, George is swoon-worthy. The heroine, Samantha, changes a great deal in this story and she comes across as a strong character in the face of challenge. Both characters are caring and kind, making them very likeable.

This story fits into the series but is standalone.

I can't wait for the next release in this series.

I received an ARC in exchange for a review.
