Suspense filled romance!

This was the first book I read by Alexis, and I must be honest the first part of book one Jessie annoyed me somewhat. I get that she was meant to come across as a hard person, hiding her feelings and closing herself off from people, but at times it felt a bit too much. As a duet this is a great story - very fast paced and a super quick read - was great warm weather w/e reading for me !! I loved having both pieces so I didn't have to wait on that cliffy. At the same time I appreciate that the prologues/epilogues and beginning chapters help you to recall what crazy is going down if you happen to read them as separate books. I love this author and being that these were some of her older works i don't even know if I read the synop before I signed on so I was VERY As a duet this is a great story - very fast paced and a super quick read - was great warm weather w/e reading for me !! I wasn't sure how I would feel about it but wow did it take a turn. The ending was bittersweet and I felt like I had some questions but then also felt I just needed to let it go or I would be living in this book hangover forever !!

Shattered Innocence -

Jessie - a simple college girl , escaped her parents , living with her bestie and struggling to survive. Her job is a crazy one and I didn't expect it at all. It was a bit hard to stomach at times but it is sadly real life for some. Lo and Jessie did have a very unique friendship and I did get caught off guard by a few of their interactions BUT their friendship runs deep and goes back years so I got used to it. Once Damon entered the picture I was excited yet annoyed. Man he was playing her like a yo-yo and as much as I didn't expect her to give in I also saw how weak fighting him off was. He was a yummy piece of work. Ironically I did NOT see that ending coming , I must be slow !! It was well played out and that twist gave way to so much more being able to happen. I was scared and heartbroken for Jessie but so very curious with what exactly Damon was doing. Now it is no surprise Damon and Jessie are super hot together - I mean panty melting , Lo had some pretty funny one liners and I have to agree with her !!

Shattered Lives-

Great title - I was feeling a bit shattered as well. With Damon gone and Lo and Jessie moving on BARELY. This story gets started in the aftermath of Jessie's old job and her struggle to move on. Without giving much away we can just say she was devastated by loss , barely hanging on and doing the bare minimum to get through work. Lo has enough and tries to pull Jessie out of her funk but when the strange notes and gifts start coming so does the suspense. What is going on - who is sending and how do they know these things ?? By now the 2nd POV isn't a surprise and we see just how much this person is putting at risk for love. Jessie's job with Tasha was so much more than we knew and the crap storm around it has many lives in danger and it doesn't take long for it to catch up to Jessie. I was shocked by some more things and heartbroken at the end pre-epilogue. Despite the amount of danger and suspense we still get some amazing heat and a beautiful love story. ...more

Once in a while you read a book that leaves you completely hollow and lost because you want it to go on. This is one of those books. Jesse is strong willed and closed off, which gives her a tough exterior and sassy mouth. Damon is the ultimate alpha male that knows what he wants and will let nothing get in his way. But can Damon handle the Jessie with her sassy mouth and even sassier job?
The titled of this book clues into our innocence not of the world and the ugliness in it. Shattered Innocence

Jessie has that type of innocence, because she knows that when she finally lets down her guard and gives her heart to Damon, and he breaks it.... she will completely shatter.
A beautiful story that left me wanting more. I want to see her heart healed I want to see his determination come to fruition. They are a beautiful love that I won't get enough of!
Hot and sexy. Deeply emotional and fun. Mysterious and unexpected. These are the phrases that describe Shattered Innocence for me!

Shattered Lives
A conclusion to a romance that started out on rocky ground and ended with disaster. But did it really end?
Warning you should read Shattered Innocence first so that you will understand the fire and love between these two characters. Jessie and Nicholas are an adventure, they have not had a romance that is written in the fairy tales, no they have had fire and attraction to rival any type of magnetism known! But let me get to the heart of this story. Nicholas is the man that chased her, the man that broke down her walls, the man that betrayed her and broke her. But he craves her and begs for a chance to prove to her that he loves her still, to see him for the real him not just the man he pretended to be not as Damon but as Nicholas.
Jessie was closed off, she had to be. Her job, where she met Damon required for her not to feel, for her to go through the motions and have her shield up... Until she met Damon.
Now this story is not filled with flower and romance, it is filled with love, heart and tons of danger. Twists and turns that will keep you at the edge of your seat. But above all love. Nicholas may not be perfect but he is Jessie's perfect. So make sure you have lots of tissue because you will cry, you will hurt and then after all of that tension you will smile and cry happy tears for Jessie and Nicholas.

WOW! I am blown away by The Shattered Duet. In Shattered Innocence, Jessica Evans is a hard working college student. She's come from nothing, with parents who don't care about her, so she's determined to make something of herself, but college is expensive. When she's offered a change to make enough money to pay her tuition as an escort, she takes it. Jessie hates every minute and its hardened her, but she reminds herself it's only until she graduates. Damon Shaw has been promoted to managing the WOW! I am blown away by The Shattered Duet. In Shattered Innocence, Jessica Evans is a hard working college student. She's come from nothing, with parents who don't care about her, so she's determined to make something of herself, but college is expensive. When she's offered a change to make enough money to pay her tuition as an escort, she takes it. Jessie hates every minute and its hardened her, but she reminds herself it's only until she graduates. Damon Shaw has been promoted to managing the day to day operations of the service. He and Jessie go toe to toe the first day, as he is determined to show her who's boss, and she's ignoring it. Sparks are flying between them, making it impossible to stay away from each other. The more time they spend together, the more she lets him past her walls, but Damon's hiding a secret that will ruin everything. When that secret blows up, will Jessie ever be able to forgive him?

In Shattered Lives, Jessie is still completely broken after 6 months. She doesn't even look like herself, plus she only works and goes home. What she doesn't realize is that nothing is as it seems, and when she starts getting anonymous notes with warnings, and presents, she has no clue who they're from. Jessie blows it off, not having a clue that her past is watching, plus the danger is stalking her. Will Nicolas be able to keep her safe without blowing his cover?

I'm so very glad that I had both books at the same time. Of course that doesn't stop my heart from being ripped out, but at least I wasn't left hanging for any length of time. Twists and turns are brilliantly layered together to keep me guessing, with my heart racing at high speeds. Everytime I was convinced I knew what was going on, Alexis Noelle sucker punched me with a new OMG moment. A fast paced, highly suspenseful, and well written storyline flows effortlessly. Character development is heavily layered in the first book, and they keep evolving perfectly in book 2. Flammable chemistry EXPLODES into fiery flames of sexy scene goodness, and moments full of angst made it tough to breathe on more than one occasion. I will end with this, I CANNOT RECOMMEND The Shattered Duet HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY ENOUGH! ...more

This is far from my first novel by this author, so I had absolutely no apprehension when I picked it up on my kindle and settled in, I just knew it was going to be fantastic, and I was not disappointed.
Jesse took a little getting used to but I was glad when I could eventually see not only where she was coming from but why.

The connection between him and Jesse was really intense but at times I couldn’t help but wish that Jesse would cut not only herself but them both so slack. She was so intense, I wanted a little more of the lighter Jesse that we sort of got to see when she was interacting with her friend Lo. Although at times she took that a little too far, but I think this side of her just gave us a better and more rounded look at her whole personality.
Damon, seemed more than able to handle the attitude that Jesse seemed more than willing to hand out, but he had method to his madness, the fact that he knew the woman, his woman would come good in the end. He played a very patient game and it gave me a very intriguing look into what made him tick.
Their world, their lives, their story had me held hostage, I really didn’t want to either let them go or to have their story come to an end. I loved the fact that the author took them on a journey that laid bare their past hurts and made sure that they worked hard for the future that they deserved. They had enough going on that lesser mortals might have walked away, surrendering to the fact that sometimes things are just too difficult, but not this pair, no matter what tried to pull them apart.
Both books are absolute page turners, and with everything that you have come through in the first book, the second one will completely entrance you.
I would like to say that if you haven’t already picked up any of this authors work, then this is a fantastic place to start.
