Husbands Who Won't Lead and Wives Who Won't Follow

"I am delighted with the insight and practicality of this book. Husbands and wives will be able to find assistance and direction from a few hours invested with this resource." Dr. H. Norman Wright Founder and Director of Christian Family Enrichment A Balance of Roles for Christian Couples Every family needs a leader-but, in many families, husbands become passive toward the leadership role. Consequently, wives may unavoidably take on responsibilities they'd rather not bear. The result? Resentment, and an emotional distancing that can sabotage an entire family system. In this timely book, James Walker tackles issues of leadership "head-on" and provides practical guidelines for those desiring to understand themselves, their spouse, marital roles and take positive steps toward healthy changes.

A powerful tool to empowering Christian women to navigate the role they have to minister their husbands through difficulties without treading the worn paths that make men to shut down.

Men in the west struggle with their roles and responsibilities for many reasons. If improperly handled, the woman will have to do all the heavy lifting, building resentment on both sides. Walker shows how to build each other into the biblical roles where we thrive. Reading this as a man was a bit of a struggle, as the male author provides an unvarnished view of the male experience and struggle. A rare glimpse behind the wall that hopefully creates understanding.

Women don't have to "do it all" because they can't, and trying only gives him room to step back. Learn how to activate your man, and make a space he can step into for the better of man, woman, and children.

I learned a lot!

I gained a lot of insight reading this book. I feel like it did a great job illustrating the why behind men not leading/women not following… I think where it lacked was more in applying the knowledge moving forward. But truly, the first step is understanding how got you here, right? What lies we need to combat that we’ve listened to for our whole lives. I really did enjoy the book! As my husband and I go to counseling I think we will start working on the application steps. Worth the read in my opinion!

This is a wonderful counseling book for couples. It tells us how our family problems have their origin and the author also gave certain examples with its principles afterward.
Every withdraw husband has his reason and every manupulating wife has her own cause.

I was a little disappointed in this book. It does contain a lot of excellent information, I found it a bit tedious to read, and not especially well written. I found that it did not really help me in my situation with my husband as much as I would have liked (though it DID give me some insight into some of my own behaviors, not so much into HIS), I still believe it to be a very useful book for many wives, it just wasn't so much for me.
If you are wondering what could be the underlying reasons behind how your spouse (husband or wife) behaves, this book may be helpful. I DO recommend it.

This book by James Walker takes a deeper look at the motivation for men to not take the lead in their homes as well as why women have trouble submitting.\n\nThe books spent a lot of time discussing why men are the way they are, their motivations (which usually is blamed on their mothers), and how the women in their life can help make them more willing to take the lead. It was definitely slanted toward the idea that the woman in the relationship needs to change first and then change for the men will follow.

I bought this book because the title was off putting and intriguing. It sat in my bookcase for weeks, then I picked it up and couldn't put it down. It is so much more than what the title offers. I judged a book by its cover but glad I was able to get past it. Wonderful book, absolutely wonderful.
