Calamity Jane
Still the most authoritative factual source, this book separates the romanticized Calamity depicted in dime novels and Hollywood films from the real, flesh-and-blood woman.

Extremely well researched, I was very surprised by the accuracy and relevance of this book being it was written in 1958. Enjoyable writing style also.

This is a new edition of a much older book, but it still is very relevant if you want an in-depth look at the stories surrounding Calamity Jane. The author is not afraid to label many of the stories as complete fiction, and also provides actual facts about Calamity Jane's life.

I couldn't get into this book. Lots of speculation and possibilities....I found difficult to follow. Not my cup of tea, as they say....
