2010: Lovely pairing of text and illustration by Jane Werner Watson and Eloise Wilkin. This book, originally published in 1958, follows the life cycle of birds (egg to baby to adult) and also the cycle of the year with migration. This isn't the sort of book to use as a resource for a report; rather, it's just the right sort of book to read to a young child to help introduce them to the rhythms of the seasons and the beauty of the world. I loved that there is a child in every illustration along with the birds.

PB 22: This is a very informational book about birds. I like that it has accurate illustrations of the birds and that they are labeled. Kids could read this book and then watch for birds that were mentioned.

Tammen kultaisessa kirjassa Lintujen vuosi tutustutaan eri lintulajeihin vuodenkierron aikana. Kuvitus on sievistelevä, kiiltokuvamainen ja ihan vain aavistuksen karmivakin. En tiedä oliko se vai mikä syynä, kun lapsi ei ensin innostunut tästä sitten niin yhtään. Lopulta opimme molemmat pitämään kirjasta, vaikka itse en kyllä vieläkään välitä kiiltokuvalapsista. Eläinten osalta kuvitus on oikein hieno.

Beautiful pictures. I love that the birds represented in the pictures also have their names written next to them. Overall a simple yet decent facts about birds. Would be good to use this as a springboard for students to choose a bird to research and find facts about.

I am giving this book to my granddaughter Harper. I have saved it over 50 years. It is in pretty good shape except for a slightly damaged spine. My parents gave me this and now I am passing it on to my grandkids. I read it again tonight and it has a lot of birds it talks about and a lot of facts about them.
