"I didn't quite understand any of this. I wasn't a fan of his. I despised his administration and everything it stood for, but yet I wanted him in the worst way."

Kayla is stuck in a rut writing puff pieces for a magazine that she doesn’t even like and is far from being a political reporter for a publication with actual substance. Until then she writes a political blog that

This is a new author and her first book. I read this book on Kindle Unlimited. For a first time author the book was very well written.

I liked Kayla and Matthew and enjoyed them getting to know each other and all the issues about being a relationship with a single President.

I too live in a two party household and it is possible to love and live with someone who has opposing views to yours. You do have to have rules in the relationship just like Kayla and Matthew did. This has given me the taste f

Kayla is a journalist so a gossip rag magazine and while she loves writing she does not like writing for Metro Girl. While awaiting her new assignment Kayla gets the opportunity of a lifetime, and up close and personal shadowing of the president of the united states. Matthew Von Hanse. The youngest president ever who also happens to be single and extremely attractive. Kayla however completely disagrees with all of his political stands, not only does she disagree with them she has a personal blog ...more

I really liked the character development, the smart and snappy political banter, and the character dynamic between the main characters Kayla and Matt because it added an unexpected dimension to the narrative, which made the pair an even more interesting and well-matched couple.

Their differences in politics definitely made for a realistic and believable relationship. I think that disagreements, open and honest opinion differences, and intelligent conversations help to build founda

The title of the novel had me hooked from the very start. I am a political junkie and when I read the synopsis of the book, I knew I had to read it. Janae Keyes does a good job in creating a storyline that will capture her readers attention, however, at times it does feel a little unbelievable. However, with that being said, the state of American politics seems a bit unbelievable with Donald Trump leading the polls.

I loved how the title of the book fit right in with the novel as the leader chara

So last week I read through this author's work just to see how she's grown with each story. I must say the author is growing as a writer. She does a great job of establishing the friendship and the relationship between the two main characters. Her female leads have gotten stronger with each book. I also liked how race and class was addressed even police brutality and how that impacts interracial couples. Both characters had completely different political views but the author does a good job pres ...more

Twas Nice.

A good quick read. I love romances with opposites attract political edition themes! They're such fun! I really (really!) enjoyed the slow burn that was their relationship,i.e., upon their initial meeting, even though they were attracted to each other they didn't leap onto each other's bodies or there was no insta-love/lust, this was a relationship between mature adults. I loved how supportive and down to earth the hero was and he was very patient with his liberal leaning love, conside
Good first start

Sweet book ,good effort by new author 3.5 stars. I would have liked the story to have been less predictable.

When love triumphs over politics

The addition of contemporary political and societal themes and events throughout the book will keep any reader interested and hooked, even the not usual romance reader. The romance reader will of course appreciate the growing attraction and love between the main characters, so different but yet so alike.

You start a journey of discovery and development as the characters grow together with the reader along the storyline. Once started, you're not gonna want to put th
The Book Junkie Reads . . .
I am not exactly sure what to say. This was a different take on the presidency. The man with the power but have no real power. The writer with a column but not anything real to say. The characters are relatable. The romance genuine. The interracial aspects intriguing relating to the presidency and the way the relationship will impact his reign.

Very conflicted!!!

This story was very conflicted (would get a 5 from me because I love reading MS. Janae Keyes any time), but still felt like a 1 because it was too conflicted, too brazen, to much of a mirror image of a movie called "Mr. President with Michael Douglas and Annette Bening" and it really felt creepy as if I was watching this movie over a gain. It even had the same plot, where the new president of the US is single, met an activist against him and fell in love.

Politics 101

I usually don't read about politics, but this book was tastefully done and written so that anyone who follows politics can understand how it works. I like the way Matthew approach Kayla. I like the fact that he took his time getting to know her before jumping straight into bed, I like the fact that Kayla took her time also getting to know Matthew and what makes him tick, and I liked her having her political blog, telling Matthew exactly how she felt about his politics, only added edi

Amazing! This book like most of Janae's captured me from Page 1 and had me hooked the entire way through. There was no way in hell I could put the book down until I was able to reach the last page.
You have politics, heat and love. Then add in the deceit of others, the secrets that are kept and man, you have a book that is full of drama and action and again... There is no way you can put it down! MUST READ

Race relations in America, a romance with the President, a racist jerk (well more than one, but one really big jerk), two sides of the political spectrum. So many pieces of this story resonated with me for multiple reasons. I loved Kayla and Matthew together, they bring balance to the political minefield and to each other. A fabulous story-line, great writing and absolutely fantastic characters. This was a wonderful story Janae Keyes!

An enjoyable, engaging slow burn of a love story coupled with intrigue and deceit you seem to find within politics made this a hot little number. I especially liked the different take on the presidency that we're used to reading about.

Passionate Perspectives

Oooh! This swoony, power read rings nostalgic of the first season of the tv show “Scandal” ( except without the Gladiators). Great story and what a premise-a single POTUS! I appreciated how the author Ms. Keyes navigated the protagonists opposing political views and arrived at a sweetly satisfying resolution. Highly recommended!

So much chemistry between Matt and Kayla. Their discussions and interactions brought this book to another level.
It sometimes felt a little slow, but it was a very well written story were you had to read every word. That’s a plus.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I don't know how she wrote this. I loved it. Different in very awesome ways. Messed with dirty parts of me that I didn't know existed...and I'm pretty dirty. I'll def read more by her!

First time writer strikes gold

To start, this book, barring the romance aspect is quite out of my normal reading genre, but when I was told I needed to read it, I bought it with no hesitation. As a first time author myself I wanted to read something new to an author and see what I thought.

Firstly I love Kayla. She's a very strong female lead and I think woman of ask races can appreciate her demeanor and attitude. She thinks for herself. She's smart and she's independent. She fights for what she

Stunning characters who leap from the pages into your heart!

Matt and Kayla are two characters that you just instantly fall in love with because they are so true to themselves. They know what they want. They say what they mean even if at times it drives them apart. Watching this beautiful relationship unfold and seeing how they compromise with each other without losing their integrity is a refreshing and welcome way to develop these characters. I think even though the circumstances these two find

I thought this was a great book about politics. I am not a political junkie but I was glad to read this book about romance and politics mixed together. It was great that the President in this story was single, young, and hot. The President is watched closely enough without the media being in his personal life. I like that it was interracial dating because it made the story more interesting since they had to overcome some problems with their race and how others accepted them.

Finally a book similar to the movie "The American President". I loved how the female lead was a strong character and the plot was intricate. Great read, will for sure read again.
