Illustrated in full color. Here's a fresh and funny retelling of the beloved classic! A vain Emperor is duped by two tailors who make him a "magic" birthday suit. While everyone in the land pretends to see the new suit, a brave child shouts that the Emperor is wearing nothing at all! When the Emperor realizes his foolishness, he makes the child his new adviser, giving this classic an added twist.
This is a fun version of the classic tale - the illustrations are whimsical and the narrative is long, but simple enough for an elementary school-age reader. Our oldest read this book aloud to our family, including a visiting Auntie and girlfriend. We had fun reading this book together and our girls loved the story.
This would be a good book for intermediate readers. This is a very common story that I am sure many of heard. I remember doing a school play version of this story in Elementary School. It provides children with the important lessons of telling the truth and not being afraid to stand up for what you know is right. I think this a good story for children to know.
