The third chapter book in the popular Monster High Diaries series, featuring Lagoona Blue! Dear Diary, I'm so stoked that spring break is finally here! This year, the fam and I are doing something creeperific -- we're going on a cruise! Being on a boat ON the ocean instead of swimming IN the ocean is a big change of pace for me, but I'm always up for an adventure! Plus, the cruise ship sounds spooktacular! I just hope I can make some fintastic new friends during my trip, since it will be kinda hard to be away from my ghoulfriends for a whole week! Later mates! "Lagoona " (c) 2016 Mattel. Nessi Monstrata is the author of the all new Monster High Diaries series. When she's not writing about the Monster High ghouls, Nessi enjoys going out to eat with ghoulfriends, shopping (shoes are her weakness!), and watching romantic comedies on TV.
Out of the three Monster High Diaries books that I've read, this one is my favorite. Lagoona is a likeable character and so are her family members. There was a good message throughout this book about treating people well even though they may not be treating you nicely. Not repetitive like the previous two I have read. I recommend this one. Nice little short read.
Lagoona Blue And The Big Sea Scarecation PLOT: It's spring break and all the guys and ghouls have big plans. Initially, Lagoona is a little jealous but gets over it and starts looking forward to spending her time with her siblings catching some waves on the beach. But as soon as her fins hit the front door her parents inform her the Blue family will all be going on a cruise. FINTASTIC! Only Lagoona's dream vacation is cut short with the claw-some arrival of enemy Torelli, who has it out to add a little mischief (as always) to the trip.
MY THOUGHTS: Lagoona's stories aren't my favorites but this one wasn't so bad. I have been on a cruise before. And I thought it was the perfect setting. I even thought the scuba diving and search for underwater treasures sounded like fun. I'm blanking but in the MH movie (have to go back and watch it again) but didn't Lagoona have a hidden talent that was related to singing or dancing? But I'm thinking she got over it. Maybe this is meant to take place *before* that. And in that one, her sister was also scared of the Kraken. Mostly though I liked the message of this whole book that just because people treat you bad and do mean things to them you can always turn it around and show them kindness. The kill em with kindness rule is in effect & it works. I may even apply this in my own life because it did make me think a sec. But what I really wanna know is. Why tho is Torelli so mean? We never really get that much about her life. Her parents are on the cruise and from what little we get they don't seem neglectful. Although you never can be sure. Did the MH ghouls try to steal her yarn ball or something? I know they sent her to math camp. But that was only after she did something to them first. Lagoona seems to think in this that it's her way of being in control all the time & having the upper claw. Was there an episode that shows what she has against the MH ghouls? Ah well, I suppose there has to be a mischief maker in the crew.
This was such a cute and fun Monster High diary read! Lagoona’s voice felt very true to her character—sweet, thoughtful, and a little unsure of herself in a really relatable way. I loved the underwater setting and how the story focused on friendship, family, and figuring out where you belong.
The diary format made it super easy to get through, and the Monster High humor was definitely there. Some parts were a bit predictable and short, which is why it’s not a full five stars, but overall it was charming and enjoyable.
A great pick if you love Lagoona or want a quick, fun Monster High story with heart.
This book is the third book in the Monster High Diaries series. The story follows Lagoona Blue as she returns from Monster High for Spring Break. With her family in tow Lagoona Blue has a fin-tastic Spring Break filled with sun, fun and family.
I was lucky enough to win this book, but I will admit before reading it all I knew about Monster Highwas that they were kids dolls. I had seen them in the shops but that was the extent of my knowledge. As it turned out I didn't need to know anything else about Monster High to enjoy this great little book.
The story was well written and easy to get into. The plot was fun and sweet with learning moments sprinkled in to the mix, the characters were interesting and the book had diary entries by Lagoona scattered throughout for a little something extra. As an added bonus at the end of the book there are blank diary pages for kids to write about their own adventures.
Overall I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with a middle grade aged child.
Lagoona isn’t really my favorite and the story wasn’t terrible it was just ok. I definitely was more interested in the other books. It did make me appreciate lagoona more, but over all it wasn’t my favorite.
