The journey to solve this ancient mystery begins when two British archaeologists, Dr Jonathan Kendrick and Ella Kaczka join a team from the Bulgarian Archaeology Institute excavating an ancient tomb. Inside a sarcophagus they discover a skeleton retaining skin residue. Lying alongside the cadaver is a scroll, a map and a jug containing a strange white powder. Together the map and scroll tell a tale of longevity and the possible source of the miracle powder, hidden in the mountains of Turkey. Before long, Kendrick, Ella and former Australian Special Forces soldier, Simon Harte, a recovering adrenalin addict, find themselves embroiled in an epic struggle against looters, kidnappers, and a Mafia backed relic collector, all trying to get their hands on the miracle powder.

Take action packed events, some disparate threads, in the hands of a talented author see how skilfully he can weave them together to create a riveting thriller that keeps you turning pages right to the explosive ending and engaging epilogue. That’s certainly what happened for me in this, the first novel I’ve read by Rex Grainger and, having said that, I definitely hope it won’t be the last as he’s certainly created an enthralling read!
With a diverse range of well developed characters seeking the miraculous white powder said to prolong lifespan, there’s danger, daring and disasters awaiting, especially as a billionaire secretly schemes to obtain it for himself. As mercenaries and a blood thirsty assassin strive to obtain the excavated secrets, this turns into a thrilling adventure and the start to what promises to be a great series. The search is slightly reminiscent of that for the Philosopher’s or Sorceror’s Stone in the first Harry Potter book with that title, but without the magic or teens involved, but the desire to prolong personal lifespan is the ultimate goal. The author’s writing demonstrates his sense of humour and some of the exchanges between characters are hilarious, keeping the story a riveting read with a great mystery to be solved.
I have no hesitation in highly recommending this to anyone who enjoys fast paced thrillers with plenty of mysteries, danger and so much more.

Epic reading
I look forward to much more from Grainger, and the team of Ella, Jon and Simon. This is full of intrigue, climactic plots and excitation. What a great story, and the adventure is well-detailed. Grainger writes a well put together story and I like how the characters interact together. It looks like the start of a series, and it's off to a great start. More great things to come from this author, indeed.

Elixir Stone is the 1st of series bu Rex Grainger. This is the 1st of his books that I have read but it won't be the last.
Jonathan and Ella, archaeologists, to to Bulgaria to join a team that is opening a new tomb. Attacked by looters who unknowingly been hired by the team, loots that newly opened site taking the most important discovery. A discovery, that if proves accurate, could change life as we know it.
Elixir Stone is packed full of adventure. Looters, assassins, a man wanting to reverse aging and one seeking revenge is what Jonathan and Ella up against. They are joined by Harte, who had been hired for security.
The interchange between these three are very comical at times. Mix comedy with adventure and danger in a well written book and you have a book you can't put down.

This is the first book I've read by Rex Granger, another excellent recommendation from Amazon.
The book finds us in Bulgaria excavating a tomb with a strange mix of characters, but as the story progresses we get to learn more about Harte, Kendrick and Ella, their interaction and growing chemistry is great. But with mercenaries, an assassin and a billionaire searching to halt and reverse the ageing process the scene is set for a great adventure and the start of what we can hope will be a great series. Looking forward to the next instalment

A fast-paced action adventure with some great characters. I hope there are more in the series soon.
