The study guide gives a background introduction and overview, including character synopsis. In-depth questions on each chapter along with a helpful commentary will guide the reader to a deeper understanding of the plot, background, themes, and characters of the novel. The questions are primarily designed to stimulate group discussion, but can also be used for self-study. Teachers may wish to use the questions in a variety of ways including assigning some for homework, group discussion in class, formal presentations, written answers, etc. Possible student answers are provided.
