Valerie and Alec are besties who haven't seen each other in a while. There's always been something there, though Alec was the first to recognize it. Alec changed and became famous after pursuing his music dream and plays in a rock band. Valerie is awaiting a reply from the London philharmonic while they both attend a high school reunion together. A random spin the bottle game thrusts them into an intimate encounter that gives their spark the right amount of catch. They begin the new facet of the ...more

One of my favorite romance trope has always been best friends to lovers and I have always been a sucker when it comes to this specific trope. And Candy Sloane has delivered. She has more than delivered because she has written a love story that truly captures the essence of this specific genre. Ms. Sloane has layered her story, Best Friends With Benefits with heart, raw emotions and of course a plethora of hot steamy dirty sex!!!!!

Best Friends With Benefits is a friends to lovers story set against a backdrop of a high school reunion. I like to live vicariously through stories about unpopular kids who make good, and then attend their class reunion only to find fawning, jealous former bullies. Toss in an unexpected hookup and it seems like the perfect combo. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel like the story lived up to its potential.

Alec and Valerie became best friends in high school. They were two social outcasts who bonded over

I have to come right out and say I absolutely love this book. As someone with a best friend who happens to be male I can really relate to the concept of the story.

The author did an awesome job setting up the entire storyline and character development. You really get to know these two and feel everything that they are feeling and going through. A difficult job for an author to accurately describe the angst and anxiety, heat and passion two people can have together.

I love Alec. He is so sure of hi

2.75 stars. hmmm so this didn't quite work for me at times. I didn't really feel the connection sometimes. it was just ok. it was cute and sweet at times (when hero was singing to her )but not enough. The constant we can't because we are friends or he or she isn't good enough for me was frustrating the heck out of me.. oh the epilogue left me wanting more. not nearly enough into the future:/

First thing I’ll say about this book is that it’s sooo sexy that I feared I’d have a heart attack while reading it because it was doing strange things to my blood pressure. So if you’re looking for steamy sex scenes, dirty talks and intense sexual attraction, you have a winner.

The title is pretty self-explanatory. This story follows the friendship

Forever…who isn’t looking for forever but with your best friend?! Class reunions are hell as it is but when you were an awkward, brace wearing band geek with another dorky band geek as your best friend they can’t get any worse especially if you see yourself as that person you were ten years ago. Valerie had made good on all of that band practice as she became quite the accomplished flutist playing with the Philadelphia Philharmonic and just waiting for her chance at the big times playing in Lond ...more

She was kissing him now. Screw her stupid rules. They couldn’t stop her from this feeling, from this want. From responding to the sweet gesture he’d offered her that morning. She leaned in to him, slowly at first, so he’d know exactly where she was going—for his lips, his sweet, hot, naughty lips.
She brushed against them lightly, testing, but when Alec pressed against her with more force, opened her mouth with his tongue and dove in deep, she could do nothing but meet his demand—nothing but rid

I'm not really sure what to say about Best Friends with Benefits. It started fairly well but then The Curse of the Dirty Talk raised its head.

"Those are some great fucking tits"

I don't expect a hero's words in declaring what marvellous mountain-like peaks she has to be poetic, just a bit less crude, and generally I was torn between cringing, laughing and crying as the dirty talk just sank this for me. For a start Al calls Val Dirty Girl which I thought a bit naff, and the image impla

Did you ever play Seven Minutes in Heaven when you were growing up? What if you got stuck in a closet with your best male friend? That is actually what happens to our hero and heroine in Best Friends with Benefits by Candy Sloane. Typically this is the point when I would tell you that the cover is what jumped out at me, but for this book, it's not. It was the synopsis. I already love a good friends-to-lovers book, but this one took it a step further. You throw in the adolescent games that you pl ...more

Al and Val's story is the on my list of PERFECT friends turned into lovers trope.

This is my first read from Ms. Sloane, and I have to say I am so looking forward to more of her work, in particular in this series. She set the ground running with two characters that were not only well developed characters, but a story that keeps you intrigued and engaged with both a friendly and heated banter.

What spoke to me the most in this particular story? The emotional dilemma that
I didn’t immediately reach out and grab this one, but I kept coming back to it and finally decided to take the plunge. I don’t know if it was because I have my own high school reunion to go to this summer (the year isn’t necessary) and I needed to gear up for it or I was just in the mood for a friends to lovers story. In all honesty it was probably both. But what I do know is that once I started it I couldn’t stop. It was a fun, quick and extremely smexy read with likeable characters that had me ...more

Valerie and Alec have been best friends most of their lives. They know each others joys. They know each others sorrows. They know each others secrets. They haven't seen each other in quite sometime except for Facetime. Valerie plays flute for the philharmonic and Alec is lead singer and guitarist for his successful rock band, Chronic Disharmony. When they attend their class reunion weekend, some things have changed, but some things haven't.

One of my favourite romance books I've read in a long time!! I am a huge sucker for any Entangled romance novel. They are always a book I know that I am going to enjoy no matter what the plot.
This book is definitely no exception.

To start, this book is a friends to lovers story, which I love. There is something to be said about having a real connection with your lover other than purely physical.

Don't get me wrong, there is tons of physical connection in this book. Candy Sloane knows how to write

This is going to be a weird review because quite honestly, the book was neither good nor bad. It was just there ...
Friends to lovers story should have enough pent-up tension and anticipation that their union should WOW the reader, at least once. Not so much in this case. The story was fun and entertaining, but the sexual tension just wasn't there. So if we take that out entirely from the book, it turns the book into a great read.
Best Friends with Benefits is exactly the kind of book I love to read: funny, sexy as sin and best friends to lovers romance. The book certainly lived up to my expectations---it was FAB! Alec and Valerie shared wicked chemistry and you could see their mutual love for each other throughout the book. Their connection was realistic and easy to relate to. Candy Sloane infused humor throughout the book, making me laugh out loud several times. Cockfuscious is probably my new favorite word, I will neve ...more

This one was Excellent!! I enjoyed it so much and I really like the authors writing style. I'm looking forward to reading more from her. It has a nice pace and the characters were fantastic!

Alec Rogers may be a big time rock star but his best friend Valerie Barkin has always kept him grounded. They are back together again at a high school reunion only now sparks are flying and sexual chemistry is off the charts. They try to fight it but some things can't be denied. Can their friendship survive

I really liked Alec and how possessive her could be, "he pressed the back of his body against it. “No one is getting in here.” He would keep that promise, but his position made it so she would have to come to him. “Get over here so I can ride that first rule out of you, Dirty Girl.” I love when a man can admit when he's wrong, “yes,” Alec said, “someone who means something to me.” He touched her arm, forced her to turn to him. “Sometimes you need to be able to admit you’re an a**.” I liked this ...more

Fantastic! Candy Sloane's Best Friends with Benefits was steamy erotic, emotionally angsty tempered by lighthearted humor but overall readers will fall in love with Val and Alec.

Best friends since fourteen, they parted ten years ago in not so pleasant circumstances and have just slowly rebuilt their friendship (longdistance) in the last five years. They grew up and Alec is now a successful rock star while Val is awaiting whether she has been accepted in the London Philharmonic. It was easy to s

4.5 stars - I seriously enjoyed this story! I love friends to lovers stories. I think it is because the history is already there with friends, and you can immediately get a sense of the depth of the relationship. This is true for Valerie and Alec. Honestly, I can't imagine why they weren't together a long time ago. I mean, reasons are given, but it just seems so obvious. They are open and honest with one another and their affection is so clear. Their love story is long overdue and well worth rea ...more

A HOT read from Candy Sloane, Best Friends with Benefits was a sexy, short, but sweet friends-to-lovers story. I was intrigued by the high school band nerd vibe. Who knew they could turn out to be a rockstar and a professional flutist? Glad Val and Alec worked through their past hurts to get their HEA. The prank on the reunion coordinator was hilarious!

I hardly ever read these sorts of books, but my friend recommended it. I enjoy the "best friends to lovers" trope. Unfortunately I need more romance or tension, even in friends-to-more stories. The instant lust and panting here overwhelmed everything else. True best friends would have had a little more to say to each other, IMO. I'm also slightly tired of the male "sex god" and the relatively inexperienced woman who suddenly turns into a sex goddess herself because of him. In this case she'd had ...more

It's no coincidence that some of my favorite fictional couples started as friends before making the (terrifying) leap to a romantic relationship. The friends to lovers trope is an all-time favorite of mine. From Ron and Hermione in the Harry Potter books and movies to Oliver and Felicity of the CW’s Arrow TV series, the journey from best friends to more is fraught with anxiety, tension, and vu

Candy Sloane has taken me on a wild and exciting ride too love and of course yuminess. This is the first book I have read by this author and it for sure wont be the last. Miss Sloane is a great writer and has a great gift.

Valerie Barkin and Alec Rogers have survived allot but what made it better was there friendship. But with the unexpected chemistry as well as sexual tension which is o so suddenly sparking between them, surviving their ten-year high school reunion together might be well a diffe

I'd call this 4.5 stars. I truly enjoyed this story. Val & Alec were best friends in high school. They've kept up their friendship virtually, though they haven't seen each other in person in 10 years. They agree to meet up to go together to their high school reunion. Alec is now a big rock star and Valerie plays the flute in the Philly Philharmonic, so they share a love of music. In fact, it's what brought them together originally in school. Where to start with this review? Well, the first thing which caught my attention was the book's theme - best friends to lovers. If you guys know me, then you know that it's one of my favourite themes! So I was very eager to read this book. So did it live up to my expectation?

In a way, it did. I really liked the past history between Alec and Val. It did add complexity to the characters and the necessary background to know them b

Valerie and Alec have been friends since they were kids in school and now they are getting ready to attend their high school reunion. They have seen each other in person since graduation and when they finally do see each other they are extremely attracted to one another. Alec is now a front man in a famous rock band. After a drunken game of 7 minutes in heaven they decide to have a friends with benefits situation for the weekend.
