From the author of "The Tainted Series", comes a new thrilling paranormal romance series.

Megan Caplan never knew her father, but he left something behind--a ring. Her mother told her that it was a fraternity ring, but when Megan is kidnapped by a strange man and questioned about the piece of jewelry, she knows there's something more to both it and her father.

Megan is unwillingly thrust into a world where demons exist. Her new bestfriend turns out to be a demon hunter, and she discovers that she herself is a half demon. Her heritage catches up with her, and soon she's set up with a pure blood mentor. Megan learns that in only a few months she'll have to make the biggest decision of her life. She has three choices: become a pure-blood demon, become a demon hunter, or death.

Good steady pace throughout the entire book. Entertaining. A lot of action. Humor sprinkled in among death, betrayal, and even time for love.

Our young woman is taken from her completely dull, lonely struggling existence working on a community service project one moment only to have her life completely thrown into chaos and hell from that moment on. What she encounters, sees, learns, experiences, and is faced with all in the coming months... well, it is something either only read about or what you wake up drenched in sweat after having a terrifying nightmare!

I needed to reread and at times just accept I didn't understand exactly what was happening as I am still struggling to learn what all the creatures are and what abilities they have. I do feel the author explains much of this well, but it may be taking me some time to put it all together. (I'm unsure on this one. Still new to this genre.)

😁 Okay, one of my favorite parts of this book is beyond childish. For someone my age, I am so tired of the foul language people throw around these days and I found this book beyond refreshing. The following are examples of the main character cussing in the book:

🚨🚨🚨

***SPOILER ***
***SPOILER ***
***SPOILER ***
***SPOILER ***

🚨STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE ANY QUOTES. 🚨

"HOLY GUMDROP, MANTA RAY, PUFF BALLS!"

"OH, MY GOOEY TINBALL MEAT SANDWICHES."

"JESUS CRUNCHING CRAP NUGGETS!"

"HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER!"

😂😂😂 I love these. A demon's cussing frenzy. lol

The plot line of this book is very good. It has a unique take on demons and hell and how that world works and looks.

Here is what I liked:
1. The main character, Megan, she always knew she was different, she just never knew how different she is.
2. The POV of Megan is good, it feels like she tells her story and her thoughts well and the pace is quick.
3. The pace and writing style of the book is good. It moves quickly, therefore I stayed interested throughout the book.
4. The way this book ended and set up the next book...it makes me want to read the next one quickly because I have to know what happens next!

Here is what could have been better:
1. The editing and proofreading could have been a little cleaner. There were a lot of sentences that were missing words or had extra because the structure of the sentence was changed.
2. Although I liked Megan, she could have been a little more sure of herself over time. She was very insecure throughout the entire book. (I am hoping she gets stronger in the next book)
3.The character growth was a little lacking, but again, I am hoping the next books will fix this perception.

Overall, this was a very entertaining and easy read. I appreciate the entertainment value and unique perspective Tarisa Marie took on this seeming usual plot.

GRRRRR.... I was fighting DNF this one from the start and I'm still trying to figure out if I should have just dropped it or not!

The h is an annoying pain in the ass who flips between rambling ditz to plummy sliver spoon with not design or purpose. There were only a few characters I liked, some of the time, but most of them were support, and they all had their moments.

The story was just annoying too for the most part. It did pick up about half way thru, which was what got me over my 'I'm done' moment then. There were so many times I almost threw the book in the DNF pile, but then something was said or done to make me wanna see what was next, and then I'd go 'huh, :/'. Read a bit more and think, yep, done, and see something else that looked like another uptick... only to get to the 'huh, :/'.

I don't have book two and looks like book three hasn't even been released. I wouldn't pay for them for sure, but I might have had a look at reviews to see if there were any average reviews for bk1 that improved for the follow ups. But if bk3's late anyway, I think I'll just move on.

The main character was frustrating and stubborn. She was like a kid, you tell her not to do something and she’ll so do it. The plot, however, was intriguing and a lot of the characters were challenged based on their beliefs. I still have some questions about the book but overall I enjoyed it.

The main character was 22, but she acted like a 16 year old.

This book is amazing.
It was so beyond what I was expecting, I couldn't put it down. The characters and plot evolved and developed so much from where it started at the beginning of the book, there was literally never a dull moment.
This author definitely keeps things interesting, just when you think one thing and you're starting to get used to what's happening, the main character, Megan, is kidnapped and forced to deal with a new crazy reality that keeps adding even more awesome layers to the story.

Halfling has a very unique, and interesting plot- and is like nothing I've read before in this genre. I was hooked from the first chapter, and even though the book is great from page one, after finishing it, I will say that it REALLY cranks up the heat a bit further in once all the conflict between the Hunters and the Demons is revealed more fully.
This book has action from pretty much the very first page, and also does a great job bringing not only the main characters, but the secondary characters to life.
I will for sure be picking up the second book- April can't come soon enough.

I received a ARC from the author which in no way affects my opinion of this book. I really loved Halfling. I actually liked it a lot more than any book her Tainted series. The book is almost twice as long as the books in the tainted series too which is nice. The main character is relatable, another plus.

I can't wait to read the second book so we can see more romance between Megan and Mr. Badass as I'd like to call him. The world that Tarisa Marie has created here is interesting and definitely pulled me in. I can't wait to pick up the next book. I strongly suggest this book to anyone who enjoyed the tainted series or anyone into paranormal romance. We haven't seen much of the love interest yet but I can feel it coming. I think he might just be my next book boyfriend...
