The first few chapters were 🔥🔥, the last few chapters were 🤯🤯. The chapters in the middle lost me a bit, due to my lack of understanding of the reformation and its different strands. Even though the author did his best to explain these clearly, it was a bit tricky for someone who hasn't got much background knowledge on this.

Full of gems, though, and well worth the read for anyone. I particularly enjoyed the chapters on the early church!

Excellent. A great introduction to the development of Christian thinking and writing through the centuries. Each great work has an introduction and selected extracts, allowing you to savor each one without having to tackle the complete work. It often tempts you to do just that though.
