I am struggling to review this book.

There were times when I thought it was great and times when I was rolling my eyes.

In the category of "A good beach read," I will say that it is well written and has good character development.

However, as a former pediatric oncology nurse, I found the patient-nurse relationship disturbing. This story could have been told without using a young, dying patient as the catalyst for an adult relationship. Hence, my 3 stars.

With that being said, as a dog-lover, I

A nicer love story

Kristen buys a lovely older house in a leafy suburb. As a nurse of cancer patients, she needs times to relax. Her next-door neighbour is grieving after losing his beautiful sweet wife to a brain aneurysim after only 10 years of marriage.
He is persuaded to go out for drinks and womanizing one night, and ends up sleeping with a very young woman.
His neighbour sees her leaving in the morning. She in turn is seeing a man 18 years older than her. He is a 50-year old specialist. Ne

Ryan has been unlucky in the love department. His beloved wife passed away and now his friend is encouraging him to go out and meet women. Too bad it is at the bar and the women are young!

Kristen moved in next door. She has an ex-husband and a new boyfriend, who is a busy surgeon.

Kristen and Ryan develop a friendship thanks in part to Ryan's dog, Sam. Sam loves Kristen and she takes care of him when Ryan is away and takes him for walks to the park.

The characters in this book are very likable an

I LOVE books that feature a dog as one of the main components of the story.
It was a good book in and of itself - filled with hope that even after tragedy, good can happen and happiness can be found.

Sweet romance

I loved the storyline. Being a 'dog' person, I knew I had to read this one! Both Kristen and Ryan had been through tragedy, yet they fought their way through to their happy ever after.

For ten years, Amanda was Ryan’s wife, life, and soul partner, until three years ago, when Amanda suddenly passed away. For Ryan, besides his tech sales job, his life since then has been the suburban home with Amanda’s preserved office in a backyard cottage, several photographs of Ryan and Amanda carefully placed in every room of the main home, two frisky cats, Punkin and Spice, and a gentle female golden retriever named Sam. However, friends and co-workers are pressing him to move on, and Ryan ...more

Oh my, I don't know where to start, other than to say that I should have started this book on the weekend. Once I got started reading it, I didn't want to stop! I loved it! I felt so very comfortable with the characters in this wonderful book that I never wanted to leave them. Ryan and Kristen are people that I wish I knew in my life.

They are both such caring, down to earth, loving people but they are both dealing with loss. Ryan's wife passed away very suddenly 3 years ago and he's having a rea

This book was enjoyable, nothing exciting or mysterious but it made for an easy and pleasant read. Typical romance story when you pretty much know how it will end, however it was nicely written....and great for a lazy, book reading tea drinking kind of day.

Manufactured angst....still readable

I loved the hero.....Loved Sam. I had a hard time with the heroine. I have three heroine characteristics I just really Dislike. Hypocrisy is one of them. Kristen was more than a bit hypocritical....and toss in self unaware....and need to like my characters. Also, friends do Not let friends drive drunk. Period. Someone of Ryan's stellar character would have taken Jon's keys. That was a real glitch in the storyline. Nonetheless, the book was m

Walking Sam

Loved the characters in this book. Hoping Jon and Nicole get together in a new novel. The love of the main characters was depicted without all the graphics.
I fell in love with this story, especially Sam from the very beginning. Sam, the golden retriever seems to just love both his owner and the neighbor. He like most dogs always seem to know when they are needed to make someone feel better. Sam pulls his two favorite people together for a sweet romance that neither of them saw coming

This is a very uplifting story that kept a smile on my face and kept me wanting to read more.

A nice story that could have been great with some editing & with the help of a writing coach to stop the super-descriptive tic that the author works into her writing. Also, some recipes at the end would have been a nice touch. The author must really love dogs, because she wrote this story as a love story to Sam, and I liked it!

A Fabulous Read!

From the moment I started reading this, I got hooked by the flow of the characters involved and how the plot stayed intact til the very end. A great romance read without the use of pornography or explicit language. A complete and wonderfully refreshing read! Excellent, highly recommend!
This was a sweet book. Perhaps a "beach read" or "weekend read" if you are looking for something quick and not too detailed.

The writing is a little "thin". It could be developed a bit more. is perhaps a "Harlequin" read, rather than a Susan Mallery, Debbie Mason or Jen Gilroy.

Sweet love story

A nice clean romance. I liked that the main characters weren't too young. What an interesting concept...bonding over a dog.
