The story follows two very different people, Allie James and Pete McCarney and their coming together following the breakdowns of their individual relationships. Allie is a strong, independent woman lawyer who is still recovering from her divorce from her cheating husband, and is sent on a five week, forced vacation from her law firm. Pete is a successful TV news anchor who had booked a three week, six city tour across the world, only for his girlfriend, also called Allie James to dump him before ...more

The premise of this story is pretty unique. A guy's girlfriend breaks up with him shortly before they're supposed to be going on a once-in-a-lifetime dream trip to Europe and Asia, and the poor guy has a deep aversion to traveling alone. So what does he do? Interviews other women with the same name as his ex, until he finds a suitable travel companion who can use the tickets he's already purchased.

As soon as these two strangers meet, you just KNOW they're gonna get along famously, and will

Disclaimer: Romance novels are not really my thing. I read this book because it was a book club book. If someone would have gifted me this book, I probably would have read it because the premise did seem interesting, but this is not a book that I would have picked up on my own.

This book had potential. Even though this is not my usual cup of tea, I enjoyed that the author used a viral internet post to kick-start the story, but I feel like the book was poorly executed. There are a few examples

Preamble to the Review

Wow! Well, after reading some of the other reviews here I can't decide if I'm Jeuvenile, have an attention span which could be held by a parade of ants, or simply recognize an enjoyable bit of fun romance when I see it and don't expect every written word to drip from the pen of Christopher Marlow! To that end let me say of this type of fiction I would normally give this book five stars, but being the delicate idiot that I am (there's actually a book one and book two in this

Witty, charming, entertaining and well written. The alternating narrators bring a fuller dimension to the novel.

The story hits all the expected stops, doesnt disappoint and has two people finding themselves and maybe each other. B

Fun little book. I was a little annoyed when the ending kept skipping time periods but other than that, it was good.

Funny and clever this was just the right audiobook for a long weekend run. Although I am not sure some of my single friends would agree that it is quite so easy to find a handsome and charming man to whisk you off on an around the world trip.

I was recently introduced to Heather via a mutual Facebook friend, who described her books as "new works of art". It took a second for the implications of that to sink in (I blame the picture of Justin Treudeau that this was all posted with), but then it dawned on me--a REAL-LIFE, PUBLISHED AUTHOR?! This is like, Nerd Girl Heaven for me now, talking to a REAL-LIFE, PUBLISHED AUTHOR! So with all of the tact of one who spends far too much time lost within the pages of a book and not nearly enough ...more

A few months ago I had the pleasure and privilege of editing The Ticket for Heather Grace Stewart. Every time I open a book by her, I know I'm in for a hilarious adventure with engaging characters. The Ticket delivered this and more.

On the first read-through, I could hardly put the book down. During the actual edit, there were true laugh-out-loud moments.

The idea of the novel is loosely based on a broadly televised social media event: The Ticket follows the story of a man who has two tickets for

There are some books that arrive in your hands at exactly the right time; The Ticket by Heather Grace Stewarts one of those books. When my copy arrived last week, I was in need of a warm, feel-good read with a touch of romance and my needs were amply met by this story.

Lawyer, Allie James, and news anchorman, Pete McCarney meet when he is looking for someone to share an amazing holiday with him after he has been let down badly by his girlfriend, also named Allie James. He has already interviewed

This was such a fun book to read! I loved the main female character, Alison James. She is Strong, Sexy, Smart, Quirky and Responsible. What a combination! Pete is looking for someone to use the ticket for a trip to major cities in the world that was intended for his ex-girlfriend. He just needs another women with the same name. Allison just happens to have the same name and was pushed into this situation by her best friend. Both Pete and Allison need a change in their lives and The Ticket gives ...more

This book was such an easy read and VERY light. If your looking for a quick beach/airplane read, it suffices. I feel like the story and character development was very flat and predictable. I wasnt expecting much when I picked out this bargin book, but dont have high expectations. This is a basic story of two strangers who fall in love, get in a fight, and so on.

I would have liked to see the author put more time in some other areas of the book, and focus less on cliche things.

This is the kind of story that we all wish would happen to us. Karma happening not only for us, but also for those who have let us down in major ways.

I did not like this book at all. The style of writing and content was shallow and limited. The book was from two points of view, his and hers, but other than using male pronouns I could tell the book was written by a woman. The male characters perspective was written in a way that a woman hopes a man would think and act rather than one does. There were way too many sub-plots which all conveniently ended happily and quickly but none were explored in-depth. I had no desire to read and/or finish ...more

"Humorous Trip Toward Love"

Newscaster Pete McCarney buys two plane tickets for a round-the-world three week trip for himself and his girlfriend. But, just before the trip, they break up their relationship. He can't get a refund on her ticket, so ... he'll have to find someone to take her place ... and she'll have to have the same name of his lost love, Allie James! He finds a feisty, headstrong recently divorced attorney who thinks she needs a break from the law office. Oh, this is a wild, funny

Laugh out loud and realistic

I loved this story! So many times I laughed. I loved the alternating first person with Allie and Pete. Both characters were family oriented, fiery, and very real. They made mistakes, were clumsy and funny. They had fun together and it was obvious they were meant for each other from the beginning.
This is also a story about Allie and Pete finding what excites them and what theyre passionate about since they dont really love their jobs. Through their trip together,

Nice Little Read

A predicable love story with the nice exception of the tension not being dragged out. You have time, for once, to enjoy the couple being in love together.
Well written and edited. Fine character development. Fast paced and humorous dialogue. Great scene setting.
For sure recommended for a Sunday afternoon read, or a beach book. Certainly not a story I'll always remember, but definitely worth the short term pleasure.

I don't know that I'd call this a rom-com, but there is humor. I liked it well enough and the audiobook was very well done by CJ Bloom and Gary Furlong, both of whom had to do both Irish and American accents while reading, and neither of them ticked my "ugh, bad accent!" box. ;-) In addition they were generally good narrators, which is so nice. I'll look out for more of their work and would definitely give other Heather Grace Stewart books a try too.

The Ticket was the perfect laugh out loud romantic comedy to help me temporarily clear my mind from the worries of my day to day life. I immediately felt a connection to the main character Allie, whose thoughts and missteps are hysterically relatable, and fell in love with her counterpart Pete, the total package. I hope a filmmaker caches wind of this book; it would make a fantastic movie. I can't wait to read more of this series!

"Shes so hot, I couldnt take my eyes off her. When she was drinking the froth off her beer, it was so sexy I wanted to do her up against that old pub wall, right then, right there." If that's the book you want to read, it's all yours. Stuff like this ruins a perfectly good story line.

What an incredible trip!

This is a jewel of a book, with a very inventive plot, and warm-blooded, lovable characters. I was engrossed from beginning to end. It was exciting and enthralling and professionally constructed by best selling Canadian author Heather Grace Stewart. I intend to read them all. I lucked out when I chanced on this in Kindle Unlimited. I recommend it.
