You get the idea after one or two of these stories, never mind four of them, but my six-year-old was delighted with all of them.

Each book starts with Roscoe in time out and then expands as he explains how events led him to his punishment. There is a certain amusement as Roscoe grapples with trying to work out the complicated rules that grown-ups seem to expect him to live by. After all, did you know there was a rule which said you couldn't glue your friends to their chair?

3-3.5 stars. A fun book to read with kids or for kids to read on their own. I even found myself laughing at some of the antics Riley came up with. Some of the stories were definitely better than others, we were not a fan of the second book, “Never Swipe a Bully’s Bear.” The kids lost interest in this one halfway through and I didn’t personally care for the premise. I’d say Roscoe Riley is a boy version of Junie B Jones. Cute and enjoyable.
