Great series debut! Such a cute plot! I absolutely loved the originality. Lots of chuckles. I was surprised by the killer reveal! On to book two, now!

Let's set the record straight right away: Two things are guaranteed to spike my personal barf-o-meter. First is extreme heat and humidity; when the temperature turns upwards of 75 degrees Fahrenheit, I turn into a shrew. Second is dressing animals in human-like clothing (well, make that any kind of clothing). Never once has a bonnet or ruffled collar come anywhere near any of my furry darlings.

So given that this book is set in New Orleans, where 95 degrees signals a cool-down, and the main chara

Great book to end the year on! This was one of the best cozies I've read.

Lacy Marie Crocker opened Furry Godmother Pet Boutique and Organic Bakery in the Garden District of New Orleans. She was fulfilling her dream by designing and making high fashion costumes and baking nutritious gourmet treats for the pampered pets of high society.

When Lacy was startled by an intruder, she sprayed gold glitter paint in his face with her airbrush gun, ran and called 911. The intruder was dead and Lacy's fingerprints were

This one had a very good mystery, which upped my rating. Otherwise it would have been a step down due to some inconsistencies. I also got tired quickly of the early verbal exchanges between the detective and the mc, finding these conversations rather childish.

Loved the pet business she had created, and appreciated the pet snack recipes that were included. Though I'm not much of a cook I just might try the pawlines for our sweet but spoiled little pooch.

I’ve got to tell you. I did not plan to enjoy this book.

~ I’m not a cat person
~ “Kitty Couture” didn’t strike me as something I’d be interested in

However there was a cute beagle on the book’s cover and I’m a sucker for beagles, so I thought I’d give it a try. And I’m ssssoooo glad I did. I found a new series for sure!

I finished a brilliant cozy last night! Cat Got Your Diamonds by Julie Chase which was such a great read I could not put it down, read the entire thing, laughing, crying and thoroughly enjoying this new cozy. This book read so well, reminding me of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, I loved the relationship between the main character Lacy and detective Jack Oliver. I don't want to give too much of the story away however the writing reminds me of why I love cozies in the first place. The book rem ...more

The thing that sets cozy mysteries apart are the personalities of the characters...and there are A LOT of coziness out my delight in Ms Chase's story was that Lacy, especially, but all the characters in this book had personalities that are huge, most were absolutely hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud over a simple dialog between Lacy and Jack...the delivery was priceless:

“What are you baking?”

“First, six dozen canine carrot cakes for Happy Tails Day Spa. They’re doing a fundr

I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of this book to read from the publisher in exchange for a review. The publish date is Nov. 15 if you're interested.

Lacy Crocker moves back to New Orleans and her family after things go wrong for her in Arlington, VA. She chooses to open a Pet Boutique in a popular shopping district in NOLA, much to her Mom's chagrin.

One night, Lacy is surprised when someone enters her shop where she's working after hours on some pet costumes and she runs out of the store
I'm in love with this series already! Lacy is from an affluent family in the New Orleans Garden District but she doesn't act like it. She is very down-to-earth and her character has been written wonderfully. She has the opportunity to never want for anything but she wants to make her own way in the world. Instead of falling back on family money, she works hard to get through college and start her own business - a pet boutique. When a shady character strolls through her door, comes back later and ...more

I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley.

Cat Got Your Diamonds by Julie Chase is an explosive start to what promises to be an exciting, page turning series. We are introduced to Lacy Crocker as she tries to adjust to moving back home and getting her fledgling business, Furry Godmother a pet boutique and organic treat bakery, off the ground. Everything seems to be chugging along until a man ends up murdered with one of her glitter guns and Lacy is considered the most likely suspect

This is the first in the series, Kitty Couture mysteries, by Julie Chase. I found it to be an enjoyable flowing read that often had me smiling. I enjoy reading a lot cat mysteries but have never read one that had a pet sop which catered to dressing them in fancy attire. The author used two things that are of great interest to her, fashion and pets. I had a feeling who killed the man who broke into the shop.
I hope in the next book of the series our heroine does something about her triangle romanc

A strong start to a new series. The setting was wonderful, and I can see it staying interesting since New Orleans is so full of personality. The mystery itself was interesting with a nice twist to it. I can't wait to read the next book.

In Cat Got Your Diamonds, the first book in A Kitty Couture Mystery Series, author Julie Chase weaves an intriguing cozy mystery tale that follows the amateur sleuth adventures of pet boutique owner Lacy Crocker, when she finds herself a murder suspect after she stumbles upon a dead body in her pet boutique.

Set in the Garden District section of New Orleans, Louisiana, fashion designer Lacy Crocker moved back home from Washington D.C. after breaking up with her cheating ex-fiance Pete, and opened

How can you not smile while reading about pampered pets wearing bedazzled outfits? Add a bunch of quirky characters and a mystery to solve, and you have a lighthearted, entertaining story that kept me happily engrossed.

In general terms, this is a formulaic cozy mystery. At the center we have the innocent woman who, for personal reasons, sets out to solve the crime. We have the hot male detective torn between frustration and attraction. We have another hot male who is also attracted to the femal

I really liked setting for this story and the author does a good job of describing the town. I instantly fell in love with the characters and couldn't put the book down. The mystery is really good and I must say I was a bit surprised at who the killer was. The story is funny at times and really moves along at a nice pace.

Lacy has come home and opened her dream shop called Furry Godmother. I loved the name of her boutique and it added charm to the story. She is really good at making decadent tre

A great start to a new mystery series!

I've read several of this author's books and truly enjoyed them so wanted to see how this new series would compare. Very enjoyable! Lacy is a strong woman back home in New Orleans and running a couture and bakery for pets called Furry Godmother (love the name!). This is a big business so she should do well. And of course outfitting Llamas, cats, dogs, and other animals just adds to the quirkiness of the characters. I could just imagine some of these animals

Haute couture, hot jewels, a hot setting and great chemistry make this zany mystery an absolute winner in my book.  Even if you aren’t an animal lover, if you love cozies Cat Got Your Diamonds is certain to delight - especially if you enjoy old-style screwball comedies.  Lacy is wonderfully odd, energetically throwing herself into her pet couture business and later her murder investigation.  The antics of the highly competitive New Orleans socialites, all devoted to their respective animal cause ...more

Cat Got Your Diamonds is a lot of fun! And it has a hunky detective. And the potential for some great swoonilicious romance on the horizon. Even just the hints we get as attraction sizzles and sparks between Jack and Lacy during this novel had me reaching for my fan a few times. Seriously the most chemistry I’ve read in a while that doesn’t end in a liplock!

But this IS a mystery, isn’t it? So I should probably talk about that too lol. Cat Got Your Diamonds is a great blend of amateur sleuth and

Lacy dropped out of med school to go to fashion school and became a designer for pets. :)

Lacy likes her job even if her mother thinks it's a step way down from where she could be but Lacy doesn't see it as that she is doing something she loves. She owns a store that makes designer clothing and organic foods for pets. Things were going pretty good until she catches someone in her store and then that man ends up dead. With only her prints on the murder weapon, she becomes the prime suspect.

What's not to love about this story? You get the fabulous setting of New Orleans, with all its culture and history, plus a main character who runs a pet boutique and bakery. Then you get a murder mystery on top of that.

I knew just from the title and the cover that I had to read this book, and once I read the synopsis I could hardly wait to dive into the story. I was most definitely not disappointed by what I found. Lacy is a great character, and someone I'd enjoy having as a friend in real life
