Tricia Stewart Shiu’s New Adult novel “Please Hold”, gives us an insider’s look at the world of high-level studio executive assistants and one woman’s struggle to make sense of it all. We see here that spirituality comes in many forms different forms and hat no one has the right to judge another person without knowing the whole story. Recommends it for: everyone
In her extraordinary new novel, “Please Hold,” 25 time award-winning author and acclaimed spiritualist Tricia Stewart Shiu takes us into both the highly competitive world of the Hollywood studio system and sensitive, belittled and searching mind of protagonist Sarah Marks. Sarah, is what is referred to as a gatekeeper, working for top level studio executives in Los Angeles, the capitol of the entertainment work. A highly competent executive assistant, Sarah is quirky, lonely and stuck – the vict ...more

This book is just such compelling reading, I just could not put it down.

We all have been victims of haughty secretaries, the ones who guard their boss better than the most highly trained Rottweiler. Treat him like he is God, and they are the handmaiden honoured to be in his presence – when he needs something.

Perhaps you have been there, got the tee-shirt as they say. Or, have you ever considered what it was like to be that person, the executive assistant, at his beck and call? What are the wom

Having chance to read Moa trilogy written by Tricia Stewart Shiu I already fell in love with author's style. Therefore when she informed me a new novel was published named „Please Hold“ I was excited to read it as soon as possible.

In short - Tricia Stewart Shiu with each new book just gets better.

Though there is no need to spoil the fun of own discovery given a novel is not too long, I can only say Shiu manages to give reader a sneak peak at the world of Hollywood studio introducing main female

As the next debate is less than a day away I can’t help to look at Please Hold by Tricia Stewart Shiu. I can’t help to think about what is considered “locker room talk” by one man and unforgivable by another. If to say this is the only time we will ever see or hear about it is to make a false claim. It is unfortunate we only see so much attention on it on such a global scale now, but that’s politics and media. For a woman in business this is just the tip of the iceberg and the beginning of many ...more

This novel depicts the life and career of a female executive assistant working in a studio where films and theater productions are made. It is described as a world of people being up, then down, where people battle over parking rights, cubicle space and jockey for position by going around, under and occasionally through others. It is clear that while the names have been changed to protect the innocent, the story is largely autobiographical.
There is no sleaze or anything approaching Hollywood
