Stomp, stomp!

Rate this book
"Stomp, Stomp!" Hee, Hee. Thump. Whump! Look at me!

The little dinosaur is on the rampage, slamming out of the house and crashing through the jungle, felling trees and terrorizing the jungle animals in his wake. He's having a wonderful time wreaking havoc wherever he goes, until -- with a tremendous Stomp! -- his father puts his foot down, ending the little dinosaur's riotous reign of terror.

Hilarious cartoon-style pictures and a brief, bouncy text combine in a raucous romp that will delight any child who has ever longed to run amok.

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 1. One morning, a young dinosaur wakes up in the mood to have fun stomping and tromping over everything in his way. He starts by slamming the door on the cat's tail as he leaves home. Then he jumps in the pond and splashes the other animals. He frightens them with his jumping and pouncing, until he suddenly hears a loud "STOMP!" Someone much larger and louder than the little dinosaur has arrived on the scene to subdue him?his mother. With just a few words per page, the jaunty watercolor illustrations convey much of the story line?the dinosaur's glee in harassing the other animals, and his chagrin when Mother makes him stop. Children will identify with the little reptile's desire to feel "big" and important. Good as an enthusiastic read-aloud, where the rhymes and energy of the text can be appreciated.?Elizabeth Trotter, Scott County Public Library, Georgetown, KY

A colorful book about a dinosaur on a rampage - until big dinosaur stops it. Daddy finished it, and asked me, "They published this?"

We weren't that impressed.

Kids in love with dinosaurs, or children that are more interested in making up their own stories would enjoy this book the most, as the pictures are bright and colorful, and full of dino action. But not something that will hold interest very long.

Not a fan. The little dinosaur goes and causes all sorts of destruction and stress to his/her surroundings and neighbors and all that happens if he/she is taken home by the dad. No apologies. No real moral. Great illustrations, but I don't think I recommend the book.

A definite fan favorite amongst the little kids, both in our Mother Goose Monday demographic (ages 0 to 2ish) and in our StoryTime Thursday demographic (ages 3 to 5ish). They particularly enjoy joining in on the stomping and chomping bits, so be prepared for active (and vocal!) engagement.

Even the biggest dinosaur fan might find this a bit underwhelming.
