Families with tots would probably give this a higher rating, but for me it was just a little bit too simple. And I wanted the answer to each riddle to be written in the text under the flap, instead of just revealed by the illustration. And I wanted more text from this under-appreciated poet.

But the pictures are wonderful and the verse-riddles lovely to read aloud. And the structure of the hardcover is accessible to little hands, on sturdy paper with simple half-page folds. Recommended.

Great animal riddles with fold out flaps. Alissa loves those. We each liked this book so much we brought home 2 copies from the library without realizing it.
