About the author

Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti (18 March 1910 – 3 August 1987) was an Italian art critic, historian, philosopher of art and politician.

Ragghianti was the editorial director of Newsweek magazine's Great Museums of the World art series, first published in the late 60s.
