Ahhh...Jessie Lane does it to me agony. I always enjoy reading her books because she manages to weave together compelling, engaging, and sexy to create a story that if full contact and full throttle. And, Sweet Agony was no different.
The story has a lot of time jumps from the past to the present to show how the main protagonist's, Lucas and Ginny, relationship started, evolved, and then crashed and burned ... maybe. The story is definitely intense and just as you're holding out hope that things ...more

Sweet Mother of Mercy, author Jessie Lane what are you trying to do to me? I will happily admit I am not a fan of serials. I don't like them, I always feel like they are unnecessary and they always cut off at the best part. I would much rather have a whole book.
But it has been such a long time since I last read a book from the Ex Op Series and I have been waiting for Lucas's book. I've seriously missed this series. That even though Lucas's book was split up into a serial, I had to jump on the ch ...more

As a rule I normally tend to LOATHE cliffhangers. Mainly because of where the writers place said cliffy and the bones of the story written.
That being said, Sweet Agony is my idea of a PERFECT cliffhanger. It left off at a pivotal moment but left you satisfied. You can take this break between books to really digest the previous story. That is EXACTLY what Jessie Lane accomplished. Had she compressed everything that this trilogy into one book, it would be so long and detailed that I believe a lot ...more

Received an ARC for an honest review. This is the first book of the spin off series for Ex Ops. Jessie Lane gave me a book that kept my interest with a few tears and some laughter. She gives you a full journey with Ginny and Lucas. These two have decisions that are tough to make but can only have hope in the end. Taking this journey with these two is an adventure into the past and moves into the present. Sweet Agony is a fabulous read and Jessie Lane will leave you wanting more that is a sure th

I was so looking forward to this book. Lots of flashback chapters mixed with present day, not a big fan of this. Just wasn't very impressed, i thought Ginny would have been better moving on from Lucas, he's an idiot.

I was warned… Jessie Lane said it would end in a cliffhanger and I thought I was prepared. I wasn’t.
Lucas and Ginny are my new best friends. I need them in my life. I want to know more about them and if they manage to find each other. Can they be each other’s happily ever after? These two are absolutely perfect. I respect Lucas so much for how much for how he treats Ginny. As kids he realizes what their age difference means to them and to those around them. He is mature for his age with that t ...more

From how this first book went I am assuming the three books in this series are going to be the past, present and future of lives of Lucas and Ginny.
We’ve know Lucas since the start of the Ex Ops series. Knew he was brooding over the one that had gotten away. This book gives us what happened between and to Lucas and Ginny from when he was 9 and she 7 up until he is 30 and she 27. It actually ends where book 2 in the series left off. So main purpose here was to show us the intense love these two ...more

Can't wait until the books out!!!
Sweet Agony is a great read! It has great characters and plenty of back story. Taste of sweet first love, heart break, regrets and hope. Everything needed for a great romance. Throw in a hot alpha ops agent and you have the recipe for a read I couldn't put down. A glimpse of some old friends and it totals excellent read. Not a dull moment. Great read and great job. Bring on the next one. ...more

A pretty good start *minor SPOILERS*
**Update: I ended up reading the next book. Don’t waste your time starting this serial. It is so unbelievably unrealistic and cheesy I was sitting there shaking my head and scoffing at most of the book. Not going to bother with the third book. **
This is a pretty good start to a three part serial surrounding the love between Lucas and Ginny. This first part of their love story deals mostly with them as young adults. Both are cute characters and I liked seeing t ...more

The only thing I read was what was in the other books so your buying three when it should have been one. I swear that's what you get for your money. I'm gobsmacked that there was a person who read these books and thought they were worth printing , trust me it's not you come across as if you had amnesia. The only reason I read till the end was to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I'm sorry you have been ill but they should never have agreed to print three out. At first I thought yea good boo ...more

This book is totally titled appropriately!! This story was sooo sweet but the agony these characters go through is just heartbreaking. This book tells the story of what leads up to the club scene at the end of book 2. And as much as I had a hard time working my way through some of the repeats at the beginning of the story, it was definitely needed for the full effect of Ginny and Lucas' relationship.

I loved this book!!!
This was definitely a 5 star read in my opinion. I loved this book and can't wait to see what happens next. Lucas, I have to admit I wanted to throat punch him a couple times. I felt so sad for Ginny that she had to put up with her hero being not so great. I really hope they get their happily ever after. ...more

Holy Heart Shaped lockers! Like, okay, I'm kind of at a loss for words. Anyone that knows me, knows just how impossible that is.
So, let me thank Jessie for letting me have an advanced copy of Sweet Agony to read in exchange for an honest review. And, I hate life kept taking me from the pages of this book. So frigging good. Heart wrenching. Desperate. Full of chaos and the sweetest of agonies. The title is perfection. And now, I frigging need the next installment. Lol

Whilst I understand authors needing to make a living off their books, I am sorry but I feel ripped off by this author for this part of a book. This story is in 3 parts for some reason.
I have never and will never buy a book that has been broken down into parts. Will be refunding this book.
I have really enjoyed this author's books in this series and some of her other books but I am so annoyed at paying full price for a third of a story. If you can get the books as soon as they release at a cheaper ...more

“You all go ahead. I’ve got something I need to handle first.”
Riley’s eyebrows shot up. “You do?”
I nodded.
“You need backup?” Chase asked.
Shaking my head, I gave them the truth. “My past is flashin’ her ass in a red dress across the room and strung out of her mind. I’m gonna go find out why, and then I’m gonna be her goddamn fortune teller and explain what her fucking future is.”
“And that is …?” Kara asked, her eyes full of curiosity, although a smile was on her face.
“Me.”

Three parts series
I had no idea this would be a three part series for Lucas and Ginny. This ends at the same scene Stripping Her Defenses ends. This tells us all about Lucas and Ginny's childhood and when they're young adults. I loved reading the stories from their childhood. I even like Olivia, she's a wonderful friend. This shows how someone's actions, even brief, can change the course of the future. ...more

OMG! I loved it. Read it in one go!
The tug back and forth between the two leads is brilliant! You want to slap him for being so daft initially then for trying to be noble! Then you want to slap her for being proud and...well....that would spoil it! Now off to work so I can cone home to read the next hit! Yeay!!!!!!

A lot of backstory. A little too repetitious from a previous book, but non-the-less, a good story. I'm not a lover of serial books but do want to read the rest of this trilogy.
