I found the stories he told about his journeys with people and spirits engaging and interesting. One of the aspects of the book that I appreciate is his insistence on inner work for everyone. There are some questions that he challenges you to ask yourself after many chapters to help us internalize the core concepts that he was discussing in the chapter by seeing where we have them in our lives. One of the many lessons that resonated with me is the idea that we should observe the things we love and the things that we consider "bad" about ourselves to help us understand the soul's journey. This in turn helps us to see how and where we can be of service to others.

I had started this book several years ago and I thought I had finished it, but apparently I stopped a couple of chapters from the end and never went back - not on purpose, but I find my books on Kindle easier to set aside and forget about than my print books laying around in stacks with their bookmarks. Anyway - I just finished it, and it was so interesting to read the author's last couple of chapters in light of the last several years of world events. If you are someone interested in modern shamanic practices or perspectives, I think you won't want to miss this book. I'll probably re-read some parts of it that I bookmarked as particularly thought-provoking.

I could not be happier with this book. Very lucky to have been raised by parents who were knowledgeable and kept to very spiritual teachings that allowed me to experience my own spirit as it is for the most part. My intensely visual brain is often interpreting guidance, spirits, and presence with imagery. I have very good dream recall. There is a foundation I can build on and the call in this book is for us to all attempt to reconnect to our spiritual side from any background. God, or whatever have you resides within. Take the inner journey. Integrate yourself. Know your path.

The best parts of this book are when Hank describes his mystical experiences. The parts where he talks about Jungian psychology gave me ideas to think about. I may need to do some research and come back to this book and reconsider some of his ideas. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is devoutly Christian.

A strong case for individuals, and society, making a change in orientation - toward inner knowing, exploration of reality through experience, and a re-enchantment with the divinity of existence.
Gets a bit in the weeds regarding the old paradigm, else I would go five stars on the rating.

- A good book, some of the stuff fairly obvious if you're a student of shamanic arts; however, I found his chapter of egregores and the origin of evil very fascinating.

The anecdotes really are enchanting. I just I didn't read Wesselman's references to other books that he wrote. Though, all in all, I do appreciate his perspective because he does have a good understanding of peoples and their use of shamanism in their culture

Hank Wesselman is a hero to me. This memoir sums up his lifetime experiences with shamanism and is a wonderful cap to his career.
