I write spicy romance books that end in an HEA. Contemporary romance, historical romance, paranormal romance…I write it all. The two things my books all have in common is lots of emotion and spice. Last year, I fell in love with a new subgenre: mafia romance. Since I write what I love to read, I started a new standalone series, Syndicate Rules where you’ll meet over the top alpha heroes in the Italian and Greek mafias as well as the Irish mob. There are arranged marriages, forced marriages, enemies to lovers, stalkers, forced proximity and lots of mafia intrigue. Morally gray is my new favorite color.

I’ve been published a while and most of my 90+ books have hit the Nielson Bookscan bestseller list, a few ended up on the USA Today bestseller list and some even hit national bestseller lists in the UK and Australia. My books have been translated into numerous languages and are for sale in dozens of countries around the world. I’ve won awards and been published with most of the big houses in New York, but my greatest achievement is touching readers’ hearts. When I hear from a reader who got caught up in one of my books, I know I’m doing what I’m meant to do.

I love writing emotionally deep stories with snappy dialogue and solid plots. I’m more grateful than I’ll ever be able to express that so many readers have taken my stories into their hearts and put my books on their reread and keeper shelves.

For me, this was a bit of a train wreck. Sandor and Ellie have been dating for three months. One night at dinner (with roses, a trio of violinists and all her favorite foods) he proposes marriage....Ellie is shocked because he has never shown any signs of physical attraction and she is convinced he doesn't love her. So what could be motivating this proposal of marriage? Ellie soon finds out it is a dowry that gives him her father's company upon their marriage. To make matters worse, he accuses Ellie of infidelity while she is on vacation in Spain. It seems he had her followed by a PI and was given pictures of her being intimate with another man. In a fit of anger, he breaks their engagement. But wait...it turns out the woman in the pictures is none other than her kidnapped twin sister that Ellie never knew about.

What is really sad about this story, is Ellie was an emotionally starved young lady that was denied the love and attention she needed growing up from her father. Consequently, she doesn't know what love is, because she has never been loved. Because of this she settles for a hero that really isn't worth loving. He was nothing more than an an arrogant, selfish man that floated between being a mercenary asshat to a devoted mama's boy.

To make matters worse the whole secret kidnapped twin plot went beyond ridiculous. I know that you have to be willing to suspend belief when reading these books, but this was all just a bit much.
I typically like everything Lucy Monroe writes, but I would recommend a pass on this one.

This is a mixed bag of a book. The first half concerns the rather stilted courtship between the H/h. H is a Greek businessman who wants to move up the social ladder. Heroine is the poor little rich girl who never found love because her mother died in childbirth. Hero doesn't know how to love (his daddy left his pregnant mother in a lurch) and can't promise heroine anything but fidelity, respect and hot sex. Heroine goes to Spain to think things over.

Then it gets interesting - or moderately dramatic.

Honestly, Hawk the investigator was the real hero of this story - and the most interesting. The heroine's longing for love makes sense, but I could never warm up to her - same with the hero. There was a spark missing somewhere.

The next story is the lost twin's. I remember it was a downer with an eating disorder on top of a miscarriage and a jilting. Wheee. I don't remember if Hawk was there to help out or not. :)

Just did not do it for me. He's made arrangements with her father to get a big deal done if he marries her then is surprised when she dumps him when she finds out. Unfortunately, her spine decays; she develops brain damage and she takes him back.

Toss in an unknown twin sister kidnapped at birth and Hawk the detective and eh. Not up to Lucy Monroe's standards. What I do like is the detective Hawk. This is about the third book with a detective named Hawk. He needs a book.

It was okay

I didn't know if I liked Sandor for the entire book. I wasn't sure why but I just couldn't like him. The whole misunderstanding and doppelganger storyline just was too much. I was actually a little bored even though it was a good twist but the book was just so so. He was marrying her for a company and that is it. I didn't like that he wanted her to be a virgin when he wasn't and even though I prefer my heroines to be virgins I was a little disappointed that he felt that way. I also think her Father just saying it's alright about something that happened 24 years ago that is a federal totally deplorable crime was just off. Then you have the HEA with all of them there and magically happy and unfortunately my reality gene kicked in with a vengeance and it was just too much. And I love the fantasy of romance but believe me the fantasy of everything else just was too unbelievable. Yes. I sit give it three stars because the heroine was awesome. Very strong and quite a backbone too. I liked that. And Sandor won me over at the end. The very end.

2 stars for a story better than book 2 (Taken: The Spaniard's Virgin) but not great.

The extra star is for LM's well done dialogue.

3 ⭐⭐⭐ - OK decent reads.
=======================
The truth was, though they had been dating for three months, he had never pushed for the ultimate intimacy and he’d ignored her subtle hints in that direction.

Sandor knew instinctively that if he mentioned the business deal with her father, it would make Eleanor balk.

“Why not? It is the truth. But only part of the truth. Papa caught us together and he beat my love until he could not get up.” Tears filled Hera’s eyes. “I tried to stop him, but Papa slapped me hard and Jimmy told me to leave.

“So, he didn’t leave you voluntarily?”  “No. He had no way of knowing I had become pregnant. He was only a teenager himself. A young boy on holiday with his friends. He tried to see me once after that.”

“There are women who are open to sex without commitment.”

“I have had sex partners. Even when the same woman met that need for more than a few nights, the relationship would never be something I would describe as lovers. Or even a relationship really. We scratched a mutual itch.”

“You are so far from prim, my little Boston princess.”

“You belong to me, Ellie.”

“You don’t love me. That is going to cause me pain. I have to decide if it’s going to be worse than the pain of letting you go.”

“I know you believe that, but it’s not true. You can’t give me the most important thing of all.”  “What is so important?”  “Your love.”

“There’s never been anyone like that for me. No one to love me. No other family after my grandparents died. No long-term friendships to fall back on. Life without love is so lonely, Sandor. I don’t want that kind of loneliness in my marriage.”

She was going to marry Sandor. The alternative…life without him and life without the mother’s love she would be gifted with in Hera, was an untenable choice.

“Sandor, it’s Hawk.”

“Your father wants an heir for his business. You refuse to be that heir, so he went looking. He found me.”  More shards of ice pierced her heart and somehow she knew this wasn’t done. “What?”  “He offered an impossible to resist dowry. Half of his company upon marriage to you and a will stating the other half would go to our children upon his death.”

“Patently. You love her and I am nothing more than a pawn my father and you have played between you. I could hate you, Sandor. I really think I could hate you.”

The sender, a person named Hawk, no last name given, was not in the office. She left her name and both cell and home numbers with the answering service, requesting he call her immediately. She told the service it was an emergency.

Apparently she and her sister both had lousy taste in men because this guy had dated a half dozen women in the last year that he’d been photographed with. Who knew how many others he’d been with? There was no follow-up article to the one with his mystery woman.

“If you hadn’t screwed up, Sandor never would have told me about the business deal he and my father intended to use me as the contract guarantee for. I might have married him. That’s the first thing. And because you took those pictures, I now know I have a sister and even where to start looking for her. If you weren’t in New York and I hadn’t come to the conclusion that all men were a waste of good DNA, I might be tempted to kiss you.”

Hawk called the next morning with the news that he’d found Ellie’s sister. She went by the name Amber Taylor and she was staying on Miguel Menendez’s yacht with him. They’d just come into port after spending more than a week at sea.

“I’m glad my sister escaped having a childhood like mine. I’m glad you were there to love her.”

“I will be your anchor and you will be my sea, surrounding me, washing over me, keeping me always with you.”

“You found your father.”  “More precisely, Hawk did.”  “He wasn’t married.”  “Never had been. Apparently when a man in our family loves, it is for a lifetime.”

Apparently I read this and never left a review (or possibly GR ate the review which it has been known to do before). This was a re-read, but it's still been about a month, so bear with me.

Eleanor has gone largely unloved her entire life. When the book opens, she has been dating Sandor for several months, but he's never "sealed the deal" wink wink nudge nudge. When he takes her out for a romantic dinner, she believes it is a precursor to seduction and is all aboard, but as those wacky alpha heroes are prone to do, he is actually offering a marriage proposal. Ellie is surprised, since they haven't even had sex yet and doesn't really want to buy the car that she hasn't test driven yet (no Lucy Monroe is not so crass as to use that analogy -- but I am!) and anyway, how can Sandor want to marry her when he doesn't love her and clearly he must not love her since he hasn't plowed her yet.

Sandor declares he hasn't seduced her because you don't seduce virgins until they're married and that's all well and good, I guess, but Ellie reveals the wonderful truth so rarely found in romance novels -- she's not a virgin!

So rare in HPs!

Anyway, so Ellie turns him down because she wants someone to love her, convinces him she's not, in fact, a virgin, and he decides that he's gonna seduce her and marry her, so it's all good. The angst factor comes in toward the end when (spoiler alert!!!) .

So if you decided not to click that spoiler tag, I'll sum up by saying Ellie's kind of a bad-ass (at least as far as HP heroines go -- don't go expecting miracles here) and Sandor has to do some scrambling and unhoisting of his own petard (although not nearly as much as I'd have liked, but since Monroe was probably limited by page count, I will let it somewhat slide) to win her back.

It's an HP and a Monroe, so know that it can get a little wacky, but it's still one I thoroughly enjoy reading and even though the angst and grovel isn't quite as satisfactory as in Taken: The Spaniard's Virgin it doesn't have the first half of semi-boredom that the second book did. Also, Ellie was much more fun to read about than Amber.

Four "I'm going to hide my shame at how much I enjoyed this ridiculousness" stars.

Only one stupid part to this book.

The heroine has been dating the hero but he's never bothered to take it farther.

So she's shocked when he proposes marriage.

He doesn't love her, but he does want to marry her, and for her, she does love him.

Ellie has spent her whole life never really being loved, she loves Sandor and he wants her for his wife but she doesn't know if she can spend the rest of her life never being loved.

I really liked how strong Ellie was. She didn't just jump at Sandor's offer but needed to think long and hard about it. Sure she loved him, but knowing he didn't love her was bound to cause her lots of pain in the long run.

There's a lot more introspection than action happening, so not everyone's cuppa. But it is a lot of angst so it's right up my alley.

The only stupid part was the kidnapping and how it was handled in general. Amber has her own book, but I didn't like it nearly as well as I liked this one.

Sandor Christofides and Eleanor Wentworth have been dating each other for three months. He hasn’t even made a move on her other than kissing and perhaps the first kiss had been a little more involved. However, since that time he hasn’t pushed for anything further despite the fact that Eleanor “ellie” would like for him to. She is shocked when he proposes marriage one night and she needs to think about his proposal. Sandor doesn’t seem to like this as he thought she would immediately accept. Yet, Eleanor is a bit reluctant since she has been burned in the past, Sandor doesn’t seem to know her well, he doesn’t appear to be overcome w/ lust around her either, and she really would like a declaration of love. Sandor gives her time to think and during this time Ellie has taken off to another country and soon pics of her surface w/ another man! Sandor, of course, gets very upset and in return so does Ellie. Some truths come out and a mystery is brought to light.

At first I didn’t like Sandor and thought he had ulterior motives as well. I especially didn’t like it when he states that he doesn’t lie nor does he like those that lie. Good quality but a lie by omission is still a lie. Yet, not in Sandor’s book. My feelings were smoothed over a bit when Sandor acknowledged at least to himself that he and Ellie defined honesty differently. I enjoyed the fact that we got Sandor’s POV and knew when he worked things out and how he stood beside Ellie even through the rough time. I also liked that he acknowledged that he wanted Ellie for herself and that he was a pretty decent honorable guy. He just didn’t want to admit to love because he felt that made a person vulnerable and he didn’t want to be open like that. I liked that Ellie stood up for herself and told him to get out. I don’t think she would have spoken to him if her world didn’t crash down around her. She needed a friend and I believed that she could trust him at that point or else she wouldn’t have leaned on him. I suppose the turn at the end was to show the complete turnaround for Ellie’s father, I believe it is plausible for him to change like that especially after what he went through. It would appear that Ellie’s love was truly unconditional at least w/ her father . . . okay maybe even w/ Sandor. She doesn’t want to hang on to anger/hate – reasonable. But the twist involving Sandor’s past . . . I would have liked that fleshed out a bit more instead of just springing it at the end. Overall this was a heartwarming read w/ a bit of angst thrown in for good measure and I liked how Ellie stood up to Sandor in that part as well.

Fabulous book! Knight in Shining Armor, lost and found twins

Again, Lucy delivers another emotionally charged book, her first her book in this series…..the other being Taken: The Spaniard’s Virgin. This one is truly a meaningful book, about a stubborn Greek who does not trust and is afraid to love. In the end, he is truly a knight in shining armor and will steal your heart with his passion and newfound love, Ellie.

Ellie is sweet, caring and has never known what is it to be loved by her father. Then on top of everything, she is not only attracted to Sandor a Greek billionaire but she is head over heals in love with him. He wants a compatible marriage and believes Elle is just the person to become his wife. However, he will not give her his love and that puts up a roadblock in their relationship.

Ellie needs some time and takes a short trip to Spain to make her decision. Upon her return, she is confronted by Sandor who produces photos, which he believes to be Ellie. Of course, they are not; they are of Ellie’s twin who they did not even know existed, with the exception of her father.

This is a lovely story, and you will be reminded of the power of love thanks to Lucy Monroe and The Greek’s Bride!

Book Description

Just no. I get it is a Harlequin. But the wording is freaking horrid. You’ve been together 3 months. We argued for 2 pages on if we’re a virgin. We’re immediately nice to the lady that kidnapped a kid. It’s makes me glad I spent .50 on this one.

This was okay - not very memorable and it didn't seem like a whole lot of effort went into the book either. It starts out with two people who seem like they're complete strangers together - the heroine talks about how she doesn't know anything about the guy but then she's lamenting about how she's fallen in love with him, but she can't marry him because he doesn't love her. Ummm...okay? And if you don't know him, why do you love him? Then there's this whole other missing persons plot that gets dropped in here and a bit of subterfuge that gets our hero in trouble and he's honestly shocked about what a disaster it creates (even though he'd monologued about how he couldn't tell her because she'd be devastated). And she just keeps right on loving him. Whatever. I didn't really care all that much... By this point I couldn't tell if he was an alpha male who didn't believe in love or soft fluffy teddy bear who doesn't understand the consequences of his actions.

I thought this one was pretty decent. Characters were pretty good--I loved the h. I thought she was very intelligent and very rational. H seemed very robotic, especially at first. I did not enjoy him as much as the h, but I felt he definitely came around in the end. There were a few plots in this story revolving around betrayal. I'm one of those readers who really prefer a good grovel over a simple "I love you" and a quick resolution. However, in this story, I actually found the reasonings behind all the drama to be pretty understandable, and forgivable. There were no long, drawn out apologies, but I felt things got resolved in a more mature matter. I'm not saying the h was a total push over--she did not make it totally easy for the H to get back in her good graces. I just thought it was handled in a way that made me happy to see the characters move on with each other.

This pains me beyond belief, but I really did NOT enjoy this Lucy Monroe story. LM is one of my favorite HR authors, and her stories usually fill that angst void I'm craving. This story wasn't enjoyable at all though. The Hero and the heroine had such a wooden and awkward relationship. It was impossible to believe they were really even close to being in love. And the story dragged on way past the 50% mark, filled with awkward and cringy sex scenes. 🤮 The catalyst that caused Sandor to rudely and hurtfully dump Ellie had very little angst.

Not bad, the first part was a little slow and boring. Sandor proposes to Ellie but she's not sure because he doesn't love her. So she goes to Spain to think about it alone. When she comes back, Sandor, who had her followed, has received some photos where she's with another man, kissing him, embracing him, and he leaves her, revealing that he agreed to marry her because her father, a billionaire, offered him half his company. Ellie is furious and tells him not to come back. Seeing those photos she understood she has a secret twin, and her father confirms she has a twin who was adbucted after their birth. Then there's is a heart attack, a reconciliation, and Hero is always around because he understood that he loves heroine. All is smooth, his groveling is not enough. She accepts him easily even after his deception. Not much passion here, but not a bad book anyway.

2 1/2 stars. Lots of dialogue as the h, born into wealth but unloved by her father and the H born from a loving unwed mother try to sort through their relationship fears that are the legacy of their beginnings. The H doesn't believe in love or think it's necessary for marriage to the h. The h only needs love. Their relationship is tested by faulty information that seems to point to infidelity on the part of the h. Investigating the information leads to uncovering secrets. The h seems to be willing to turn to the H as her world implodes. An OK story with little angst.

Allie and Sandor

Allie has been dating Sandor for 3 months but he hasn't attempted to move their relationship to a more physical plane so when he proposed she was shocked. When she decides to accept his proposal he accuse her of infidelity and breaks up with her telling her that the only reason he proposed was to gain control of her father's company. Amazing read with some twists and turns that will let you gasping. Highly recommended

I was really enjoying this - among other things, the heroine is actually not a virgin and sensibly drags her feet when the hero proposes to her after three months of dating - and then it went completely off the rails and goes downhill from there. Started out great, then went balls-to-the-wall category romance crazy.

I usually love Lucy Monroe's books but this one just didnt do it for me.. It was actually good but then idk it just got weird. I love happy endings and all but that ending made my head ache with the kidnapped long lost twin. Like everyone thanked the kidnapper for what she did and like, they were like "too bad you couldnt take both kids". 😖🙄 and they lived happily ever after.
