? The essential volume for anyone intending to travel around Europe by train ” - Sunday Times Updated and revised every second year Europe by Rail is the best selling guide to exploring Europe on a budget. It offers detailed destination breakdowns together with unique route-based itineraries and logistical timetable information from the world-famous Thomas Cook European Timetable team. Suggested journeys are designed to include the cultural and scenic highlights of each country, along with plenty of detours to plan individual tours.
This book is excellent for anyone wishing to take a trip by train within Europe. The book contains 50 routes across European countries (for example, Barcelona to Lisbon, Budapest to Istanbul and Berlin to Krakow), and a guide to hub cities across Europe (London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Budapest, Belgrade etc). I have found this route very useful; it explains the scenery of the routes included, the trains you should take and the best places to visit along the way. You should definitely buy this if you're considering making a particular journey in Europe but do not know exactly which trip to do and you are in need of ideas.
Provides brief overview of train routes for travelling in Europe. I did not like this book because it did not provide enough detail. I would only recommend to a very seasoned traveller.
