I am very unhappy with this book. The premise and storyline, even the writing, is good. The problem....no ending! If I want to find out what's going on... I have to buy the next book in the series...The Duchess Contest. Will it end there, or am I to buy yet another book to learn the ending? I'm very disappointed! When I buy a book, I expect the entire story, not a cliffhanger ending.

Edited: I am going to reply to some idiot's comments which I deleted - TWICE! Why am I complaining about a cliffhanger in a series? Because I didn't expect to buy 1/4th of a book! Even in a series, there is some completion to each book, but something that carries over through the series. This was just....cut off. So yeah, that's gonna piss me off, as were your comments about my "opinion". This is a disgusting trend with new authors with ebooks. They give away part 1, then try to sell you the other 2 or 3 parts of their "series". This isn't a series as we know it, it's one book ripped apart into several sections. There is a HUGE difference and by god, I'm sick of being told I'm getting pissed off for no reason in comments. I'm allowed my own opinion. Don't like my opinion, fine, that's your opinion, but don't bother telling me I'm wrong in the comments.

Another Note: I just checked, and as of Fall 2018, two years after my initial review, part 2 is still not free, not even on Kindle Unlimited. So you still have to pay to read the rest of the cut up book. :(

The Billionaire Duke: A Jet City Billionaire Romance

BEAUTY. FASHION. WOMEN. ROMANCE.

Riggins Feldhem , is this hot bachelor billionaire he has pretty much everything. A booming business fame, money; for him his life is pretty perfect.

 photo backstage-fashion-show-raffles-graduate-2014-30_zpsvyp5ddxb.jpg
That is until one dead duke a long lost relative so to say ruins his life … and did I say he is dead ! this family member of Riggins did his homework before leaving this world. And He made sure Thorne his trusty lawyer did all his bidding after he died.

 photo tumblr_nczhxceG211u0e2vfo1_500_zpssopzxddw.jpg

So now Riggins finds himself in a bit of a pickle sense he is now duke and he must accept this because if he doesn’t, the dead duke will destroy his company and life pretty much.
That’s not all, he also has to marry the girl of his choosing (which he has chosen already) and produce an heir. What is Riggins to do he accepts but with a condition if he could find a out then the dead duke must leave him to his life with no consequences. Haley Hamilton, such a cute perky, full of personality girl has a pretty simple life. She works in a bakery. She has the biggest crush on Riggins little did she know that she would be the wife that the dead duke picked for Riggins.

 photo Blonde-pink-purple-and-blue-hair_zpssl2zmse9.jpg

Thorne explains all this to Haley she is quite overwhelmed but excited , but then she meets Riggins and he wants her as his ally to help find a out from this she is quite crushed but they put on a show foe the media and Thorne and here is where the fun begins and now Riggins has to ask himself what he really wants to do .

MY POV
I think the story is very cute so far , I like the characters in the book they are both quite lovable. Riggins might seem a little full of himself but in a harmless way . I love the fact that all though he doesn’t want to be duke or marry Haley he is still a sweetheart to her. Also love how he seems to start having feelings for Haley. Haley her character is super cute ,love how she has her colorful hair for her sister Sid that has aplastic anemia so she does pretty much anything for her. The book itself is a fun read and very entertaining. My only issue with it was that in the beginning it was really slow like I was getting inpatient but then it picked up around 15% percent , and there is when things got really fun.

Overall totally recommend the book it’s a super cute story full of some twist and turns .
Cant wait for the next one.

This could have been great -a neat twist on the usual 'marry or lose the money' trope, but then it ended and..................

No. I don't do cliff-hangers. I think readers deserve better.

at first this was a slow start. Somewhere around the 20% mark things have picked up and got interesting.

Truth be told, Riggins might be nice but it is Hailey I like a lot. she's honest, loyal, fun, a loving sister (Sid is really great too), a person of integrity.

Add to this the fact that I'm a sucker for the "arranged marriage"/" marriage by contact " plot and this is an easy winner.

My problems are two:
1. Riggins is a little less "it" for me. I do not find him hot or desirable at the moment and his voice is just a little not to my liking.
2. The ending. I just totally need the next one five minutes ago.

I do have to point I found myself highlighting quite a lot here, quotes about love and some devilish sentences. This Dead Duke was an evil genius. I adore his plan.

Cidden hoşuma gitti. Konu tabi ki öyle çok farklı bir şey değil ama yazılış biçimi beni hiç sıkmadı. Direk ikinci kitaba geçiyorum.

I really liked it. It's not so different from the current romance novels but I didn't get bored. It was well written, I will begin the next one.

2.5 Stars

I didn't mean to play the devil’ advocate, but I don’t like this story, some part of it was too superficial and bland and mild. I know a lot of people gave this book good ratings, but I’m going to give it 2 stars, more towards 2.5 stars, and I know some people might not agree with my opinion, but… meh

There are some reasons. I actually really love the premises and synopsis. The story got so much potential and I can see why people gave this one a good rating. But that’s the main problem, I had so much hope in this one, I know I shouldn’t but thing happened and I was disappointed. It’s definitely my first time reading a book from Gina Robinson, thus I’m not accustomed to her styles. I will rate it based on my personal opinion and taste.

Cliffhanger
Cliffhanger definitely one of the main problems here, I don’t hate it but I don’t really like it either. especially how short this book is, it doesn’t help.

Characters
I love it the character. I like Haley, we could definitely see that she’s a good character and sister (yes, my weakness in a book is sister-love), she works so hard to take care her ailing sister. Riggins on the other hand, was okay…(?) I don't have any impression about him! and that’s the problem, other than he was a billionaire turned duke, I can’t seem to recall what his other trait. I mean I know he’s handsome irresistible and filthy rich, I mean that what is it always about in billionaire kind of romance right?

He (Riggins, our hero) doesn’t want the dukedom, but he was and offer Haley a big sum of money to help him. And I can guess, that Haley would attract to him and drama etc etc. The character was good, it came from good foundation and background, but it’s too bland and simple and cliche. I can’t really understand the emotional problem that happened, I need more convincing.

Other else? when I read it, I felt like it’s too impossible to happen. I know this is fiction, but I still just can believe how lucky the heroine, that she was connected to the old duke first wife by blood…? and the new duke itself… they happened to be in the same country in the same city… cool.

Just because I was disappointed in this book doesn’t mean I won’t read the next series, who knows maybe I will like the continue of this book, but I need to get my hand on it first to decide. Once again just because I’m disappointed doesn’t mean I don't like Gina Robinson, I might read her other books in near future (if I could find some of her books), and maybe I will find one that suits my taste.

Would I recommend it? If you have similar taste with me, you might don't like it, but who knows. If you're Gina Robinson's fans you might like it.

Cliffhanger

I absolutely hate when author do this! Yes this first "book" , It's the start of a story was free, good thing because you get to the end and the story isn't finish you have to purchase the next book! I don't know why authors do this it's just turns me off from reading anything else from this author.

I don't care for alternating first person. The one redeeming feature of this choice is that the story was formatted so it was impossible to miss the change from one character to the other, which was what I thought I so disliked about the choice, but it turns out, that's not it. I just don't like both viewpoint characters being "I." The story lost a point for that.

It may be my fault that I didn't realize this was only the first installment of a longer story. I did check and the Amazon description makes that clear if you read it all. Had I done that? I doubt it. Even if I did, it sat on my kindle long enough that I forgot. But that's not the real sin in my book. While this installment is free, to read the entire story, it will cost $13.

Yeah, that's not going to happen.

This was only a 3.5 story to begin with and it's already lost two points.

I thought 4 books, not 4 parts. It was ok.

It was a decent short story.
But I was expecting 4 books about billionaires, not 4 parts of the same story.
The remaining books are a little pricier, considering they don't have as many pages as you'd expect for the money.

Higgins Feldham owns the fashion company, Flashionista. High fashion clothing to suit all budgets.

Hayley Hamilton works in a bakery.

Riggins gets a visitor who informs him that he is the last remaining relative to a British Duke. He doesn't believe it. Obviously!

Hayley gets a visit from the same visitor informing her that she is the last living, child bearing, female, of his late first wife.

The late Duke wants them to marry and proud an heir.

As you can figure out, neither is particularly willing. But the wily Dead Duke has put certain measures in place to ensure that his decendants follow all the rules.

Includes, questionable racial statement on page 7 line two. Very unimpressed I would most certainly like to confront the author on this statement. Also according to my research she was born in Baltimore which has its high profile racism issues both in the past and of late.

Very disappointed with this.

The Billionaire Duke was a very unique book to read but thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. I enjoyed the fact you could read the story from both sides so you could see how they both felt throughout. This was the first book I've read by Gina Robinson and if this book is anything to go by i will definitely be reading this again and her other work she has done.

There's something funny about the formatting of this book. The way the user uses " at the beginning of a new paragraph in a continued run of speech really threw my reading and made me pause and work out which character was speaking EVERY DAMN TIME!
There's also some lazy bits of writing where the author casually throws in things happening an hour earlier for the sake of the plot but which weren't in fact mentioned at all an hour earlier in the story.

It's a fun read which will appeal to some, but for me I think it needed the firm hand of both an editor and a copy-editor before really appealing to the masses.

I wanted to like it, and I was cheering for the author right up until the dance scene which just did not evoke in me the emotions the author was aiming for. I felt awkward and a bit weird and unbelieving of the whole thing, and the 'sexy dance moves' just sounded embarrassing - but maybe I just haven't tried them myself, this didn't really make me want to though.

I gave up at 43%.

The writing was pretty engaging. The conflict logistics made little sense.

Haley is taking care of a sick sister, who needs access to medical care that non-rich people can't gain. Riggins, the billionaire in question, could lose his business through corporate sabotage. All this orchestrated by a Dead Duke who reads like a Regency villain (think Elizabeth Hoyt).

Riggins: a working class hero with suddenly larger responsibilities. Except the duchy makes a huge amount of money already and the Dead Duke was extremely wealthy from his mother's side. Not quite a billionaire, but a lot to lose money on.

And I liked the plot idea! A lot. However, I couldn't get into the meat of the story because it was all world setup. At 143 pages, I expect a little bit more movement. Apparently, it's a serial, but I didn't know that meant cliffhanger. I didn't get that far, thankfully.

No star rating. Just a DNF to add to the pile.

A working-class girl fantasy

This is a single story told over multiple books. I didn’t initially realize that, but it makes sense as I was getting toward the middle and not much had happened to bring the protagonists together.
All the stipulations involoves for two Americans to suddenly be involved in British aristocracy makes sense —and why they feel forced into agreeing to this arraigned marriage.
I’m probably not going to continue with this series because it feels like it will be “perfect for each other couple who keeps getting obstacles thrown at them, so they don’t think they can’t trust each other until close to the end of the last book.”

It is well-written. The heroine is plucky just the right amount of insecure and clever. NThey both want to do the right thing. They are cute together. And The Dead Duke is a heck of a matchmaker.

Riggins Feldhem is an interesting character and another reluctant duke. His unlikely meeting with Haley Hamilton, a woman ten years his junior, is not as coincidental as one might think. Watching the two of them navigate this relationship that has been forced on them is sometimes humorous and sometimes heartbreaking. The schemes the two come up with are great fun, but the situation they've been thrown into isn't as easy to escape as they believe it will be. And there are more than hearts that could be broken. Lives are on the line.

This first book was such a tiny morsel of the story that I couldn't wait to taste the next one. In fact, as soon as I finished this one, I jumped right online to buy the next. I can never get enough of these stories, and can't wait to read the next one.

AN INTERESTING TWIST ON CINDERELLA

Riggins Feldham, a boy, abandoned by his father grows up to be a self-made billionaire. A common enough theme in the romance genre, but wait, along comes a very proper British solicitor (lawyer to us Americans) to break the news that not only has is neglectful father died with no other children, but that his father had been the, to that point, sole heir to his cousin, the Duke of Witham, and now Riggins is the last male of that line with the death of the Duke only days prior to the Solicitor appearing in Riggins’s office.
How this news affects Riggins Feldham will not be disclosed by, you’ll have to read this book to find out!

I had no idea when I started this book it was a series and had cliffhangers. The story started off kinda of funny Billionaire is told that he is a Duke by a lawyer from the estate of this duke who was related to his father and because his father is dead and he really never knew him, only that he was British and that he left him and his mother when he was a young child. Then the idea of him having to marry before a certain time is kinda dramatic. It was okay but I hope it gets better in the next story because I wanted to really like this story. So far its good but not great. I am pulling for Gina hope this series turns out to be worth getting all four books.

There is neither a cliffhanger nor an ending. Did someone tear out some pages?

Really!! Can you call it a book when the author stops dead in the center of the story with a note to buy the next in series for more. Since there are 4 book so in the series, it's like buying chapters. More like a soap opera. Hate it when they do that. The story line is good, captivating and held my interest. This preview had no ending, it stopped in the middle of the outline! Consider selling the rest as a set

I thought it was the end of the Chapter not the end of the book. I felt like they had only just set up the premise of the book in those chapters not that it was the whole story. There wasn't a challenge or something to overcome, and there weren't any setbacks or victories. Realistically if they merged the entire series into a book they would potentially have a novel that included all the components of a novel.
I should have read the comments prior to starting, however it was good character builds and premise, just execution was lacking.

Despise non stand alone

1st I struggled to get through this short book. 2nd I despise run on books. There is a huge difference between a book series, and a never ending gotta keep buying just to finish 1 story. I own several of the first, anywhere from 5 books to one that is at 25 and not ended yet. I will delete this and block the author so I don't screw up and waste my money on her again.

CLIFFHANGER

This book is well-written with an interesting plot, good character development and very few editing errors. It’s big failure is that there was no resolution of the storyline.
I despise cliffhangers and the authors who think it’s OK to sell part of a story. I will not read any further publishings from this author and no longer care what happens with these characters.

Hmm..

Honestly I'm not sure WHAT to rate this book as. It didn't grab me but I read the whole thing. I don't have to know what happens next because it definitely left some open questions. In fact I'll probably forget it in the next few minutes but it wasn't poorly written. It just wasn't.. I'm not sure what.

Continuation to the Seattle Billionaires

This is Riggins Story. If you don’t have a lot of money to spend don’t read this book. The cliffhanger leaves you hungry for more and there are 5 books in this series. Then the story continues with Lazer, 5 more books. The stories are challenging and cute but very expensive to get caught in this web.

The Billionaire Duke

I enjoyed the book immensely and the story of the billionaire and his new appointed title of duke. His dilemma is abiding by English law and aristocracy. He has to marry and have a child all according to the last deceased dukes wishes. As you see it's a cliffhanger and I'm not happy about it, however I'm a sucker for HEA and will continue with the sequel.

Am I a billionaire?

I enjoyed the book but hated that I didn't get to read the ending. Why make a book into a series when we want to know the ending when we are finished with it? One book should have beginning, the storyline and the ending, don't prolong the book something might get lost in the writing.

Conspiracy. Or is it

Rags to riches. The series starter enthralled me, and made my purchase of the remaining titles easy. This title awoke my inner conspiracy theorist and I’m curious about the agenda of all the other characters that were introduced. I can’t wait to see how it plays out.

Well, what can I say. I love the story. But I hate a book that ends with you needing to read the next one to find out what happens next. I such got so invested in Hailey winning her bloke and then they threw in this. OMG. Now I am off to get the next book. Enjoy people!

I'm getting really sick of this 'part of a book' happening on amazon. If I get the first book free then I'll probably happily buy the rest of the series but I refuse to pay for part 2, 3 and 4.

Such a shame because the female character seems lovely and I would be interested to see how things turn out.
