The Creeps #3

Curse of the Attack-o-Lanterns

Goosebumps meets NERDS meets Scooby Doo in this graphic novel mystery series about the power of misfits. The Creeps are in trouble, again. When rule breaking during one of their investigations lands the detectives in “service detention,” the four friends find themselves lugging pumpkins off a foreclosed pumpkin patch. To thank them for their service, Sheriff Obie allows each Creep to take home a pumpkin to carve into a jack-o-lantern. Bad idea. Once carved, the jack-o-lanterns come to life—and attack everyone within reach! It turns out the pumpkins came from a cursed patch, and to stop the Attack-o-Lanterns from destroying their town, the Creeps will have to team up with the patch’s unpleasant owner, Old Lady Bitterwood, who happens to be a witch.

Loved this fantastic mystery. Love all the saucy charters and great artwork. They have a great way of teaching valuable life lessons while telling these darling mysteries.

This series is a bit odd. It seems aimed toward younger readers, yet a lot of side characters are depicted getting maimed and killed. For older readers, the plot twists may be way too predictable. Despite this frustration, there are lots of action scenes and enjoyable characters.

This is a goofy, awkward book and maybe it's because I haven't read any of the other Creeps books (but picked this one up because Halloween is right around the corner).

So I got the general gist and was mildly entertained.

Love the Creeps series, and I think it would be cool to see in a cartoon format.

As always, I liked the characters and their interaction with the sheriff. The humor's spot-on, and the book doesn't treat kids as stupid. Yeah, the premise is kiddy but the tension that stems from it is real. I'm always ready for more Creep books!

Warning: A character dies in a pretty graphic cartoony moment.

What a neat graphic novel and it surprisingly interested me throughout the 30 minutes it took me to read. It's great for all ages!

These books are fun. Creepy mysteries with plenty of danger. For a kids book, plenty of people eat it in these. This one has killer jack-o-lanterns in it. Fun stuff.
