Grace Henry needs a reboot. Laid off and unable to find a new job in her native NYC, Grace heads West to Wishing, Texas to run her best friend’s bed and breakfast. But before she hits the city limits, to her luck, Grace rear ends the chief of police’s truck. As the mouth watering western dream peels off his shirt to clean her cut, she reminds herself what cops are like—cynical, inflexible, curious and controlling. Her NYPD father taught her that fact.
FBI agent AJ Quinn is undercover in Wishing to catch a forger. Though his best friend lives in Wishing and he always longed to buy land there, Wishing is an annoying detour from his purpose, working major cases and fulfilling the vow to his father to make a difference in the world. But when Grace crashes into his life, AJ suddenly finds himself questioning his direction and determination to remain single.
Though Grace and AJ insist they don’t want a relationship and are wrong on too many levels to count, when the head says no, the heart says yes…..
Wishing, Texas series Book 1: To Love a Texas Cowboy Book 2: To Catch a Texas Cowboy Book 3: To Marry a Texas Cowboy - Coming soon Book 4: To Tame a Texas Cowboy - Coming soon
I wanted to really like To Catch a Texas Cowboy. I was looking for a romance to just take me away from reality. I like cowboy romances set in Texas, so this seemed a perfect fit. I liked the main characters, but this book was so slow to develop. I never was able to get lost in the book.
Grace's life in New York imploded after her boyfriend embezzled funds from the company they both worked for and she was enlisted by cold, unfeeling FBI agents to turn informant on him. Now she's come to Wishing, Texas, at the invitation of her best friend, the heroine of the first book in this series, to run her bed and breakfast. AJ is an FBI agent, working undercover as the Sheriff of Wishing while investigating a possible forgery operation.
The first meeting between Grace and AJ had me hooked and laughing as Grace crashes into AJ's truck, and then, without giving him a chance to tell her who he is, tries to convince him not to call the police.
"All the police will do is complicate matters," she insisted. "In a town this size an accident has to be big time excitement, and they'll make a federal case out of it. Isn't that how small town cops make a name and advance their careers?"
I quite enjoyed watching them dance around each other, deny their feelings, make excuses to themselves about why they can't be in a relationship, and finally, inevitably, come to their senses.
Grace Henry has seen her share of hard times. She has been laid off, and unable to find a new job. She was questioned several times by the FBI because of the crimes of her ex-boyfriend. Her best friend invited her to move to Wishing Texas to help her friend Cassie run a bed and breakfast. She packs up her car and heads to Texas. Before she hits the city limits she rear ends the small town’s sheriff. Grace had never seen a sheriff look so good. He was a fine site to see. I enjoyed the banter back in forth between AJ, and Grace. This was a fun book to read.
The Town is famous for a legend. If you dropped a coin into a well, and made a wish, the wish would come true helping you find your true love. AJ didn’t really believe in the legend, but he thought why not, and gave it a try. Could Grace be his true love?
His horse stole my heart throughout the book. The old horse would escape and come find AJ. She just wanted to spend time with him. I also enjoyed the characters in the story. This was a fun book to read.
Loved it!! This is the second in the Wishing TX series and it's excellent, has me looking forward to the next one. This one can easily be read standalone. The characters are fantastic and the writing is great. Has me wanting to move to the small town.
Running into the rear end of the chief of police's car probably isn't the best way to announce her arrival in Wishing but that's exactly what Grace Henry does! And what a nice looking male specimen he is. Too bad he's a cop. Grace's one relationship rule - no cops!
AJ Quinn is acting as temporary chief of police in Wishing while secretly working on an undercover investigation for the FBI. As soon as he can wrap up his investigation he's back in Houston working larger more meaningful cases. So that means he has no time to start something with the pretty newcomer. Too bad, really!
Published in 2016. Grace Henry has known all her life that cops are not into solid relationships. And, that’s okay with her. Any relationship that gets too serious is too much for her. She likes to control all situations and leave the guy before they leave her. FBI agent AJ Quinn is all business. He has to be, he doesn’t want to know what happens to the victims and informants of his cases when the case is closed. He just moves on. When Grace accidently crashes her car into AJ’s, every view they had about relationships will change but will love conquer all? This was a great contemporary romance with a cowboy flair. I love the fact that the heroine didn’t just sit and cry about her circumstances but changed her life for the better. AJ is the cowboy every woman dreams of meeting. I need to put this series on a list of must reads.
This was very good, a much better story then the first book I thought and I did like the first book. Much more intense then the first book. Just wish that the 2 other books in the series we out now too!
The initial meeting begins with a "Bang", their second encounter verges on hostility, and the third is filled with sexual tension. Eventually, AJ and Grace begin to like each other, even though Grace is adamant that she will never date anyone in law enforcement. AJ is acting as the temporary chief of police in Wishing, TX, while secretly working on an undercover investigation for the FBI. To escape her troubles in NYC, Graces accepts her best friend's offer to manage a Bed and Breakfast in a small town in Texas. Grace is looking for a fresh start and not a relationship, especially one with the Chief of Police. Even thought this book includes an FBI investigation, the author never really takes the opportunity to make this a true mystery romance, and keeps the plot rather simple. The best scenes are the ones that include, AJ's friend, Zane.
What a nice surprise. This was such an enjoyable read. An unexpected twist near the end but then put back on course. I feel though that the investigation by the hero in the story was resolved very quickly without really many clues. But i really enjoyed this and can't wait for the next book in the series.
Grace has had a bad turn of events. Her ex is arrested for embellishing and she had to be an informant. AJ is back in his friends hometown acting like Chief of Police trying to find forgers. She runs into the back of his truck and it is up and down from there.
I found guidebook to be prednisone boring. The characters are not well developed or interesting. It was at best a C- version of a Danielle Steele wanna-be. Lots of other choices Out there.
Grace ran to Texas from New York to escape the fall-out of being an FBI informer. The first thing she did in Wishing was to rear-end the police chief. What happens after that makes a story worth reading.
I am loving this series. What a great book. Storyline is entertaining, the characters are warm and you get pulled into the book in no time. Definitely a yes on my list.
Enjoyed this book. I laughed & giggled a lot as well as felt the sadness surrounding Grace & the frustration around AJ. The chemistry between Grace & AJ was immediate right from the first meeting....a rear ender. Grace's life has imploded since she's did what she thought was the right thing & helped the FBI, now she's looking for peace & quiet in her new life. AJ is playing Chief of Police in Wishing as cover for his with the FBI to find a forgery ring that's working around the town. Grace & AJ are fighting a losing battle when it comes to their chemistry but it's the secrets that they're keeping that are tying their hands even more. With their best friends wedding coming, they're going to be thrown together even more, now the heat & sparks they're throwing will ignite. This book was fun, sweet & emotional all the elements needed for a good story. Looking forward to reading the next installment.
Plot: Grace is moving to Wishing, Texas, where her best friend lives. She was caught up in a fraud investigation of her boyfriend and is now guilty by association. The company they both worked for folded and she lost her job. Nobody else will hire her. So she's going to run her best friend's bed and breakfast. On her way into town, she runs into, literally, the chief of police. AJ is the chief of police, but he's also still (secretly) FBI, working an investigation in the area. AJ and Grace proceed to engage in a classic push-pull relationship, but what will happen when Grace finds out the truth? When it's time for AJ to wrap up his investigation and go back to Houston?
Character development: Neither character made a good impression on me at first. They were both so prickly, and it was easy to understand why each of them separately might be running on a bad mood, but I didn't understand why they needed to be so rude and mean to each other. That lasted for much longer than I expected, even when they already admitted to themselves that they found the other attractive. I did appreciate that at the end, they went after each other, instead of having just one of them run back to the other.
Nice romance between two strong-willed characters having to find out for themselves what's important in life. After losing her job in New York, Grace agrees to manage the bed&breakfast inn for her friend in Wishing, Texas. Bumping into the Police Chief's car on her first day there is not what she thinks might be a good start, even if AJ, the Chief, is everything a woman can dream of. But - he is a cop, and as a daughter of one, she vowed to stay clear of this type of men. AJ himself is only in Wishing undercover and does not really intend to stay there. Sympathetic, very likeable protagonists, a slightly stereotypical description of small town life, and a nice plot make this an enjoyable read for a couple of hours. Some humour in the dialogues only serve as a bonus.
I discovered I had this in my Kindle after I read the first one in the series. If these were in Kindle Unlimited, I'd probably read the others to get all the friends' stories, but I don't like them enough to buy them. I spotted a continuity error fairly quickly. In the first book, Cassie bribes Ella with Starbucks. In this one, Grace complains that there is no Starbucks in town… This was kinda sweet. I liked that AJ didn't even consider using Grace to catch the forgers, as his boss suggested. It did tend to go over the same ground a bit. it was also weird that Grace was hired to run the B&B, but it didn't seem to have any guests apart from AJ when he has to move out of his rental for repairs and the other friends when they come for Ty's wedding.
Grace's entire life needs a make over. When her best friend offers her the job of running the bed and breakfast, Grace leaves NYC as fast as she can.
AJ is working as the town's chief of police. What no one knows is he is actually undercover working for the FBI. He is searching for an operation of illegal documents. He is coming up empty until Grace literally runs into him. AJ soon learns Grace makes him look at things from a different perspective. What he wasn't prepared for was having any feelings for the little spitfire~
It's holiday time so it's freebie cowboy book time. This was a fun story and I enjoyed it. Yes it's predictable but if it wasn't I wouldn't have wanted to read it. The characters were quite good and all in all it was a good read. However I thought the end would have been way more dramatic than it was. I thought I was in for a life in danger whilst catching the bad guys and saved by the wandering horse. Alas no, catching the bad guys was almost a throw away sentence. Bit disappointed really.
The cover ruined it for me. This looks like teenagers not a college grad post military man in Afghanistan much less old enough to be FBI/Sheriff. This guy is going and scrawny where near described in the book. This was a simple basic but sweet story escaping the tawdry, over sensationalized usual crass sex, which was a nice change!!!! There is a mini mystery going on but was not embellished. Easy read, nice story.
Grace Henry leaves NYC to move to Wishing, TX. Grace has been unable to find a new job in New York after being under suspicion at her last job. She is now going to run a B&B for her friend in Texas. Before she even arrives at Wishing, Grace rear ends the Chief of Police’s car. Chief AJ Quinn is an FBI agent working undercover in Wishing. For someone who is leery of all law enforcement officers, Grace finds herself strongly attracted to AJ.
The story of Grace and AJ is a pleasant read filled with an interesting insight into the FBI and their tactics. The reason I used the word pleasant it is not filled with angst and steam it is a genuinely good flowing journey. The supporting characters too are enjoyable and whilst not a lot of back story what there is blends them very well into the story. 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars well earned recommend.
Grace Henry's life is in a tailspin. She loses her job and travels to Texas to help a friend run her Inn. When Grace arrives in Wishing, Texas things get more difficult as she finds her brakes don't work and she rams into the back end of a large truck belonging to none other than the towns chief of police, AJ Quinn. I enjoyed seeing how each character developed and where their stories lead them. Beautifully written cowboy romance. I will be reading the next in the book set!
O loved this book! It was a very enjoyable read. Talking about the difference between city life and small town life. The plot revolves around forged government id's. And the cop/via agent working the case. While at the same time falling in love.
Quirky, interesting town characters, town themed on main tourist attraction, main characters working on resolving the past and crime solving. Not bad but I feel Ive read a similar theme town that was based on a gemstone & weddings so not so unique.
This is a story all about denial. Two people who have there priorities all wrong. They are in a crisis in their carriers and have to do some soul searching but both make a choice that's right for them. Likable argumentative characters. Good read.
