This book, about an idealistic couple starting out in the wilds, carving a place for themselves, is one of my favorites.
This time I shared it with my children. It is real, sometime raw, and not Christian, but was suitable as a read-aloud for ages 10-17, with only a few minor edits. We all enjoyed it.

One of my favorite books. The family stilol lives in Saxtons River, and the place written about is about 5-10 minutes from my house. Just a really nice storey, I have read it at least four times.
