YES I ADMIT IT I one clicked this solely because of the cover!! Yes I have a problem lol

I've never read anything by this author before soooooo this hot covered book is as good of a place to start than ever..

Dirty Shame Started off with Rylan and Keelan at their school graduation, things take a turn for the worst when he's roughed up a bit, thrown in a trunk of a car, beaten up and either get run over by a train, jump off deaths bridge or get another round of beatings, all in the name of keeping away from Rylan, Thinking that he'd left and abandoned her that night she packed up and left town thinking that the one boy she loved had betrayed her..

Sometimes love isn't enough

The coal dust, the faded jeans, they were all part of him, the boy who I had loved since the first day of high-school.

I really enjoyed this book, the heartbreak, the angst the betrayal had me glued to my ipad until I'd devoured that last page..I pretty much inhaled it in one sitting..

We were prisoners of forbidden love, just like Romeo and Juliet but without the poetic, old English double speak and Italian marble balconies.

I have such a weakness when it comes to second chance romances!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Through lies and parental interference ripped these two young teens apart, the boy from the wrong side of the tracks to the girl who comes from a prominent family. The story of a love so strong that never faded.

He'd been a teenage infatuation.

After Rylan Merritt finds her fiance in a compromising position she decides it's time for her to head on back home to Bluefield Ridge, back to the boy who broke her heart seven years ago..

It had been Kellan who dropped me, no explanation, no apologies, he'd decided to ignore my existence.

The sad fact of why Kellan walked away from teenager Rylan breaks the heart, all because he was the boy from the wrong side of the tracks.

The man who had owned me, heart and soul, since I was a teenage girl, seven years ago, we'd kissed and fooled around like clumsy, inexperienced, hormone flooded teens.

My Thoughts: I didn't really get that bad boy vibe off Kellan, he had the bad boy image living on the wrong side of town, owning a harley, getting into the odd fight but nothing that really screamed bad boy..I loved his character, when he loved he loved hard, you could so see this happening time and time again in a small town, small town mentality, the girls on this side of the track are ours, I'm so glad older Kellan fought back and fought back hard..The lengths that were taken out to keep these two apart broke my heart..

You stay on your side of the tracks and stay away from our Highlander woman.

Can't wait to read Tommy's book next *wonders what hot cover model the author is going to come up with for his book*

Dnf @ 47%. I thought the reason for separation was understandable, and I was willing to look past the fact that the H was a manwhore during their separation...

BUT the h still hadn't asked why he didn't show back up that night before the separation, OR contact her, OR why she didn't contact him herself. The second time she is spending time with him they are about to have sex -- because who cares about all the rest of the stuff right?!? and then this conversation goes down...

“You know, Kellan, I’m not that same inexperienced, semi-shy teenage girl anymore.”

"I know, and trust me, I’m already fighting with my own demons about wanting to rip apart any other guy who dared to touch you in the last seven years.”

“Did you expect me to wait for you?”

“Damn fucking right I expected it. You are mine, Lanie. You’ve always been mine. Even when you were four states away, you were mine.”

Which she took as a sweet thing even though he's been SLEEPING WITH THE WHOLE TOWN since she's been away!!!! Have some self respect woman, and don't allow for this stupid double standard! I kind of wish she was whoring around just for the sake of it!

Yep, this got me into a shouty capital rage...DNF! DNF! DNF! SO OVER IT!

Rylan is rich and popular. Her parents want her to marry a rich and popular guy.
Kellan is from the other side of town. The side where the coal miners work. These two are inseparable as teenagers sneaking off every chance they get but in public they are on opposite sides of the room.
At a senior dance Rylan is left to wonder why Kellan never returned. She's told he left with another girl. Rylan is heart broken. She leaves for college and meets a guy who later becomes her fiancé. Who later she finds cheating on her.
After 7 years Rylan has come home. Now this is where things start to fall apart for me. Rylan is home for one night and already sneaking out to go for a ride on Kellans Harley. They talk and he tells her he wasn't with another girl that night but doesn't explain anything else. Then the next day they are having sex after bumping into each other. Then the next day he picks her up at the ice cream shop after he gets dropped off from work and they have sex again. It's surgery sweet sex. Don't know how I lived with out you for 7 years sex. I could die a happy man between your legs sex. I never stopped loving you sex. Ugh! I can't go any further! lol

Rating: 3 second chance romance stars

‘We were prisoners of forbidden love, just like Romeo and Juliet but without the poetic, old English double speak and Italian marble balconies.’

‘Dirty Shame’ is a second chance romance set in a socially and economically divided town, split down the middle, where integration between the two respective factions of town is frowned upon. Rylan Merritt and Kellan Braddock together found unquestionable love on the opposite side of the tracks, shunning the divides between them, until Kellan dropped Rylan like a lit match, no questions, no answers. That is until seven years later Rylan finds herself back in her hometown - Bluefield; a backwards town of trouble and some centennial ethics. For Rylan, Bluefield isn’t a place so easily encumbered in her past, not since the love of her life made it worth it. But now, she’s within close proximity and suppressed love finds itself breaking free from the fringes.

‘I hoped, then, that I’d found the person who could make me forget all about the boy I’d left behind.’

‘Tonight, my one true temptation, the one craving that could never be satisfied, had returned.’

Want some honesty lovely readers? Well, if you’ve laid eyes on the cover you can suss my incentive for reading because that cover model is just gorgeous. No regrets or dirty shame here ;)

‘Rylan Merritt was destined for better things than me, but I wanted her to know that I had never stopped thinking of her. Even when I’d fallen silent and avoided her before she left town, I was still with her.’

Kellan is a coal miner, his modest life and dedication to the coal mine grounded into the kind of hard labour that has him trailing his late dad’s footsteps, and since Rylan left the town behind her, Kellan has drummed up quite the reputation of the promiscuous kind. But when Rylan comes back, Kellan knows where his heart lies, and it never distanced itself from the girl who stole more much more than a sliver of it.

‘My whole existence had been circled around the green eyed girl with the laugh that could ease the worst pain or lighten the darkest day.’

‘Dirty Shame’ was a bit rushed for me which is why I had some issues with how well the story flowed and I questioned whether enough was explored and explained. I must admit, I was surprised at how quickly both Kellan and Rylan rekindled their relationship. If the situation was reversed I would have been keeping well away, under the assumption of what I thought, from a man who had crushed me without explanation (even though Rylan wasn’t privy to the truth just yet). Overall this was a pleasant, readable contemporary romance between a coal miner who had little choice but to abandon love and invested in a second chance of love that never died away.

‘Kellan was never ashamed of being a Trog, the ugly nickname for the kids who lived below the train tracks. He wore the title proudly just as he wore the shredded jeans, tattered shirt and chalky coal dust.’

‘Fate had cruelly placed my soul mate on the wrong side of town.’

I’ve read a good few books so far, most of which seem to include unprotected sex. If there is going to be unprotected sex then that decision should be made with real and justifiable reason -definitely not a responsible road to take, especially when the decision is justified by both a character 'not wanting any barriers between them', unless they care enough about the consequences. Not smart at all.

‘I was still that bad influence from the wrong side of the tracks in her small hometown.’

I love the whole Romeo and Juliet, forbidden love element merged in a CR romance that is equally mired in a traditional town of social exclusion. A modern day Romeo and Juliet who have a world of social division between them. Loving Kellan seems to come with a horde of heartache and just as many obstacles but proves that love is worth and beyond any form of scrutiny.

‘During those fleeting moments of uneasiness, I had trouble facing the bleak reality that much of my adult life would be spent below the surface of the earth where the sunlight was as foreign as the fresh air.’

Trigger Warnings: Unprotected sex and swearing.

This was weird. I love me a second chance romance and I adore reading about a manwhore who reforms and is all and only about his girl, and this book had both. So I should have been in my happy place, right?

Wrong! What didn't sit right with me was how they were ripped apart as teenagers with a brutality that should have scarred them for life, made them mistrust each other (at least) and on his part her and her family. Instead after not seeing each other for seven years, and her walking in on her fiancé banging his assistant and having to move back home, she's jumping on his Harley and they're all lovey dovey "I don't know how I lived without you". See, that didn't work.

Another thing that left me puzzled is that they didn't even talk about what happened, just accepted they were back in each others lives and all was rosy in the land of coal. Nope, nuh unh, not even a little bit, especially as she still had trust issues with him on a couple of occasions and STILL didn't speak about the separation until almost the very end and then that was glossed over. Too little, too late sadly.

Weird.

This was, for lack of a better word, boring. I thought it'd be a lot more angsty, but it wasn't. Gave Romeo and Juliet vibes. Pushed apart by her father. H becomes manwhore after h leaves, and the book opens with him banging another guy's gf. Not a good look for him. And the h's fiance cheating on her forcing her back to her hometown. They're insta as soon as they lay eye's on one another. H doesn't look at another girl, but her father get's involved once again making it look like he's cheating with the girl from the beginning. Then a sprint to the end with her father's all of a sudden change of heart. Overall ok, but parts that could have been angsty, the author glossed over, or spent zero time developing.

3 - 3.5 stars. I can't make up my mind.

First of all, this cover is hot as hell. Loved it. It is what got me to look at the blurb for this book. Do more of this Tess Oliver.

So by my rating you can probably tell I didn't LOVE it. I liked it at least!

This is a Romeo/Juliet story. The H, Kellan, is from the wrong side of the tracks, but of course is hot as hell and completely in love with the h. The h, Rylan/Lanie, is from a rich and powerful family. Their love story starts in high school on graduation night when Lanie is about to leave for college. Basically they are torn apart by evil people and a nasty and horrific event. Lanie is left thinking that Kellan leaves her; Kellan is torn apart by this event and stays away from Lanie to keep her from getting hurt. Lanie leaves for college and doesn't look back.

Fast forward seven years later, Lanie is back in her hometown. Kellan is still there and working at the mine. He has been a manwhore when she was away but now wants back with Lanie and doesn't care the consequences. Lanie has never fallen out of love with Kellan and decides to risk her heart. This book is about Lanie and Kellan overcoming the past and proving to themselves and everyone else that they belong to one another.

I liked the story just fine. I found all the characters likeable enough. I just really couldn't connect with the book. I've tried to read Tess Oliver's books before and never could get into them. I believe it's a personal thing where I just don't connect with her writing. Personally, I think it was an okay book. I think the drama and heartbreak was smoothed down way too quick and was unrealistic. I don't want a lot of angst and drama, but there had to be more of a realistic way that those hurts were fixed.

I'm really curious about Tommy and Andi's story which is the next book in this series. I might try to read that because I would love to see their HEA. Otherwise I'm not sure I'll pick up another Tess Oliver book.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Tess Oliver can write the hottest, sexiest alpha guys I've ever had the privilege of reading on a page in a book (and it does help that this cover model almost melted me). And she then can follow it with some of the hottest, sexiest steam ever written. And, in "Dirty Shame" even the female lead was hot and showed little restraint. Moving back to her hometown seven years after she thought her hot high school love had dumped her, it took her less than 24 hours to forgive and forget and be groaning and moaning underneath him.

Actually a big highlight of this book for me was a fast moving story that didn't spend pages and pages rehashing old hurts and having a female lead that enjoyed the heck out of her alpha guy no matter what his past.

So, why 3.5 stars? The ending just wasn't up to the rest of the book. It seemed bland and rushed after everything else that had happened. I'm not saying whether or not it was an HEA () I just wanted more. Maybe it will be in another book about another character.

rylan and kellan’s feelings for each other resurfaced once more when rylan is back in town. their attraction towards one another was palpable and it’s obvious that they haven’t gotten over each other at all even though they were separated for so long. rylan didn’t know the real reason why kellan went missing and avoided her before she left town for her studies, and she lived that way for the entire time until she found out the reason. i liked their reunion and their intense feelings for each other.

Reread- I’m slowly trying to clean up these old reviews… without reviews. I read this several years ago but couldn’t remember it. Dirty Shame is a second-chance romance for childhood sweethearts Kellan and Rylan. The two had a “forbidden” relationship as she was a “highlander” (rich kid), and he was a “Trog” (poor kid) that ended when Kellan “ghosted” her after graduation leaving Rylan to head off to college broken hearted. She believes he left her for another girl, but we learn early on this isn’t the case.

It wasn’t a cheating situation, but for readers that hate OW action… the book opens with him getting busy with an OW (not graphic-before Rylan returns) and it is implied he was a manwhore during the separation. For her part, Rylan has dated and is engaged before breaking things off and returning home.

I thought his reason for the “ghosting” was understandable, and I found them both likable enough. My issue was the lack of conversation/development. Small things like why neither tried to reach out over the separation (7 yrs I think) are just skipped, and large things like why he cut contact are pushed off WAY TOO long to the point that it made it unrealistic.

This is a peeve of mine, I hate when the conflict depends on the characters not acting like normal people, and I think the first thing any jilted partner would do is ask why the person did what they did. Instead, we’re left with Rylan just jumping right back into things with Kellan with zero resistance or discussions about WTF happened. For example, at the halfway mark they’re getting ready to have sex, but rather than discussing why they broke up or even about sexual activities during the break… we get this…

“No condom, Lanie. Don’t ask it of me. With others,” he said the words quickly as if they might mean less that way, “I always use them. But I can’t.” His words caught in his throat. “I can’t put anything between us. I have to feel you, all of you.”

In fact, these two don’t discuss the “why” until 90% into the story and then we race to the finish line. Their HEA is because an event changes her mind, and the “villain” that caused all the problems is just forgiven on the spot with an “I’m sorry” …Poof.. all’s good… the end.

Bottom Line- There’s too much downtime circling the same pattern without any forward movement, and what little does happen skips over the work- things just happen. It reminded me a smidge of Written in the Scars with the second chance coal miners with a jerky co-worker and family like secondary characters.

I wanted to read this book immediately after I read the blurb. Luckily, Dirty Shame did not disappoint. Kellan and Rylan's story definitely made my heart hurt at times. But I love second chance romances. So it was completely worth enduring all the emotions this book made me feel. For all the heartbreaking and angst filled moments in this books, there were just as many equally beautiful and passionate moments to balance it out. You just can't help but root for these two characters who you know belong together despite any obstacles or objections they face. I'm glad this couple finally have their well deserved happy ending.

DNF... Looks like, once again, I'm in the minority but I couldn't care less. I couldn't get passed the first few chapters. The dialogue & writing were not that great & had me wanting to bang my head against the wall.

***SPOILERS***

So Rylan & Kellan were in love in highschool but they were both from opposite types of family. She came from snooty money & he came from the wrong side of the tracks. So it was a wrong kind of love that some people didn't approve of nor were there wanted together. So during on the hs dances, Kellan gets beat the hell up & threatened to stay away from Rylan, which he goes ahead & does. Abandons her at the dance, like a coward, and never speaks to her again.

Fast forward 7 years later, Rylan is living in NYC with her successful fiance until she walks in on him banging his assistant at work. So she heads back home. She ends up coming face to face with Kellan at he local bar & she spews to him right away how he shattered her. Then he drives to her house, climbs over the fence & throws pebbles at her window like an 8 year old. She then proceeds to come out to meet him & gets on his bike to go for a ride like everything is ok. Like he didn't just abandon her at the highschool dance & never spoke to her again or gave her an explanation. Ugh, gimme a break.

I just couldn't read passed that whole thing. It was lame & not believable.

Ok first off I love the cover!!! Tess's covers get sexier every time she puts a book out!!! I absolutely loved Kellan and Rylans chemistry, it really came through the pages and got me hot under the collar !!! The main characters had loved each other since they were teens but some stuff happens and they find themselves being pulled apart and Rylan leaves town but comes home after a horrible ending to her current relationship in her adulthood.... They find themselves back together but someone wants to pull them apart again... I really couldn't put this book down when I started which always happens when I start a Tess Oliver book!!! I also loved Thomas and Dawson and hope they get their own books also!!!

Not sure I'm going to write a full review on this one, so going to toss out my thoughts here. Tess Oliver always does something to me with her books. It's not a bad thing either. I can be reading one, and see something bad coming. You actually FEEL it, you dread it, but you keep reading. So it hangs like a cloud over you, and you anticipate it the whole time. It is both awesome and yet nerve-wracking.

In particular with Dirty Shame, I saw how this was going to go from the beginning, and yet, I still could not put it down. Great story, well written, emotion evoking. You know what is going to go down but you don't know HOW it is going to. I loved it. Would fully recommend Dirty Shame.

One again, Tess Oliver has done it again. Huge fan!!
Love the chemistry between Kellan and Rylan as they attempt to rekindle the love lost 7 years ago, due to lies and interference that ripped them apart.
Looking forward to the rest of the series. Will Tommy win 'Andi' the gal he has been in love with for ever, or will cuspids arrow send him someone else? Will Andi end up with her own book?
Who will win the heart of Dawson? Questions I can't wait to read the answers to.
Oh, and the cover is HOT HOT.

SINOPSIS:

Dirty Shame is the first book in a new series by Tess Oliver and it was so good I sat there and read it until I finished it. It had everything you could ever love in a book, a good plot with bumps along the way so you do not know what will happen, a second chance contemporary romance, and high school sweethearts that turn into adults and what happens to them. On top of all this certain people plotting against the main characters to make sure they never get together-ever!

Kellan in a coal miner's son, he watched his father working in the mines, until he passed away, and now here he is in his late twenties doing the same job which he started right after high school. Kellan is a handsome, hot, sexy man with blue eyes so deep , you will fall into them. Along with him, his two best friends in the world-Dawson and Tommy(known as Huck) also work there. The all live together in a run down house, but it is theirs, and they take care of it. Dawson has a twin that is in love with Tommy and has loved him since she was a kid, but he will not give her the time of day. Andi is an emergency room nurse which has come in handy as all these years she always took care of the boys and their cuts, bruises and everything else. She is a beautiful girl.
Tommy has always loved her, but knows Andi wanted to make something of herself, he did not finish high school and he feels he is not what she needs.

Then we have the other main character, the girl that Kellan has always loved, Rylan, but Kellan has a special name for her only he has ever used-Lanie. Lanie has always loved Kellan since they spent so much time in high school together and they knew Rylan was going to college away from home, but Kellan did not want to let her go. Unfortunately the night of the senior prom where they had to stay away from each other but managed to get together on the roof, he had gone to get a sweatshirt for Lanie and never came back, and then he quit talking to her at all. She went off to college a broken young girl.

The main problem is that Lanie comes from the one side of town, the rich one, that is separated by the train tracks and Kellan lives on the other side where the poor people live and Lanie's parents were horrified when they found out the two were seeing each other. Lanie's Dad puts a bug in the ear of the high school bully-Jason Meade to persuade Kellan to leave Lanie alone. Jason lives on the right side of the tracks, his father being part owner of the Bluefield Mine, but Lanie's Dad does not realize the lengths Jason will go to make Kellan do his bidding. Jason himself loves Lanie also but she does not give him the time of day and she never has. Laine does

After graduating from college, Lanie goes to work for a publishing house in Pennsylvania, and then meets a man her parents considered perfect for her. She gives up her job to follow Chase to New York where he is working at a brokerage firm and he is rising up the rungs of success. After something happens to cause Laine to leave New York and go back home, her parents try to get her to change her mind about him and forgive him his mistakes, (one no one would ever ask their daughter to forgive), but Laine will no longer talk to him.

Then they see each other again, and time stands still for Laine and for Kellan.
1 Will they try to see each other again?
2 Will Laine ever find out why he left the roof of the school and never spoke to her again?
3 Will Laine's father get involved in his daughter's life and try to ruin her love for Kellan again?
4 What happens when Laine and Kellan see each other again? Is there any love left?
5 What happens when Chase comes to Laine's parents house?
6 Will Laine leave again because of her parents?

AS all of this is going on there is also other factors like Kellan fighting in an underground ring. The main opponent is a bad biker named Jigsaw as he rearranges his opponents faces! Can Kellan even take this guy on!

Read this book, I do not want to say anything else, but the way Tess Oliver puts a book together, you- like me will find yourself engrossed in the story from the first page! There is a lot of sexual and mental angst, a lot of hot sex scenes guaranteed to keep you glued to the page, a lot of happy but sad times for all the characters and most of all it is a poignant tale of love between two people, who due to unfortunate circumstances are forced to give up the one thing that is the most important in their lives.

I gave this book 5***** stars and can't wait for the second book to come out!

Dirty Shame was about Rylan and Kellan. A forbidden love story between a rich girl and a poor guy living on the opposite side of the tracks.

The execution of the story didn't hold my interest. Too many side stories and not enough focus on the original reason for their separation. After seven years this
should have been the first question addressed. Instead they declared their love
and started back where they ended seven years ago. Many minor characters were introduced as a means to create obstacles and cause distractions. This book was several chapters too long. The driving force between the two main characters was limited to sex. They didn't seem too concerned with reasons for the original breakup nor the reason for remaining distant. The only thing driving this story was sex. Everything else was boring filler in a town where gossipmongers resided and narrow minded individuals still believed in a separation of social class.
Most the guys behaved like juveniles meddling in each other's lives. The parents
were far too concerned with controlling Rylan's life by meddling, as well.

Dirty Shame was a full length standalone story. Dirty Shame was book 1 in the Bluefield Bad Boys series. This was a contemporary urban fiction focused on the socio-economic differences between the rich and the poor in a small coal mining community of Pennsylvania. Tommy and Dawson were minor characters introduced
In book 1 in order to set the story for their own books.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Since finishing the book, within 24 hours of receiving it, I can honestly say that I LOVED IT!

Stumbling upon Tess Oliver on Amazon one rainy day I have read several of her books and love how her series flow from one character into the next. I so look forward to the same for the supporting characters of Dirty Shame. My taste in romance reading is widely diverse so I found this book refreshingly sweet and hot at the same time.

Kellan and Rylan's young but deeply passionate love is abruptly ended one night before Rylan leaves her small town for college. Then she leaves a job she loves to follow a man to New York for the sake of his career. Despite becoming engaged and planning a wedding Rylan knows her heart remains with the boy from the wrong side of town. Then a bad break up with brings her back home to her parents and back into Kellan's life.

Kellan is a man with callouses on his hands, working underground in the coal mines, illegal boxing on the weekends and filling his free time with women. Yet he is still a broken man with no room in his heart for anyone, except the one that got away. While Kellan is from the "wrong side of the tracks" he is intelligent, fiercely loyal and has given his heart away to one woman forever; whether she knows it or not. Kellan has remained in the small coal mining town and works the mines just like his father before him. Hardened by the underground mines, illegal fighting and the shattered heart he keeps hidden from everyone but his two best friends.

Rylan is the rich girl from the “right side” of town, the classic country club deb. Yet by following her heart and her fiercely independent mind she has only disappointed her parents. Rylan’s parents have big dreams for her marriage to a wealthy man that has never seen a hard day’s work in his life. Despite her wealth and upbringing she gave her heart away as a teenage girl to a boy that she was never supposed to be friends with let alone become star crossed lovers with.

Once I started reading Dirty Shame I could not stop, but for bathroom breaks. I just had to know before I could sleep if Kellan would be able to convince Rylan that he was the man she needed and that his love for her had never wavered in the seven years they were apart. At the same time Rylan has to decide whether or not she can allow her parents to keep her from the one man she has always loved at the same time getting the answers she needs to that one burning question of why did Kellan walk away from her that night seven years ago and never look back.

I believe this is the start of a great new series (I hope!). I have no hesitations in giving my full five stars to Tess Oliver's Dirty Shame. I eagerly anticipate Tommy and Abbie's tale as their side story is to intriguing to not know more.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. I just happened to come across a book by Tess Oliver one day last year. I am not sure why it never popped up as a recommendation since these are generally the books I read. After reading a couple of her books, I quickly became a fan of this author. I have since read almost every single one of Tess Oliver’s books. All of her books are fantastic in my opinion. I love her style of writing and how she creates her characters and her books series just moves smoothly from character to character.

As far as Dirty Shame, I won’t repeat what the brief description of the book says, and just give you my review without spoilers. This book had me from the cover. I mean who can say no to those abs? From the beginning of Dirty Shame I was sucked in, so I buckled up and held on for the bumpy ride. You have your high school sweethearts, there is angst, action; hot, steamy sex; laughter, tears, over-the-top controlling parents, heart break, and a second chance at love, and did I mention the hot, steamy sex. This book has it all. It truly is a must read. You will not be disappointed. If you have not read any of Tess Oliver books, you truly are missing out on some fantastic reading. Thank you, Tess Oliver for another great book. I look forward to the next one.

Best thing about this book? The guy in the cover and that's it. The whole thing is based on this dystopian-style little town where there's this villainous feud between the rich and the poor, it's so cliche and overplayed. The hero is poor and the typical I-love-her-so-much-I-just-had-to-become-a-manwhore-when-she-left trope, the heroine is rich, completely clueless and spineless. The glue that holds all the drama is the fact that by some magical force the hero cannot leave the town, there's no actual explanation for that but it's there. She is ready to go at the slightest sign of trouble. Argh, I'm honestly surprised I finished this.

With a sexy beefcake on the cover I had to read this book. Kellan is quite the possessive man, “damn effing right I expected it. You are mine, Lanie. You’ve always been mine. Even when you were four states away, you were mine.” The blurb of this book had me nervous I don't like a lot of flashback scenes and I was so pleased with the little the book had. I'm really looking forward for the other characters to get a book of their own.

4.5 Stars - I have become a huge Tess Oliver fan!! She writes such a mix of books. This book was not a disappointment! Great characters, wonderful chemistry between the couple and a nice new series I am looking forward to getting lost in. The only reason I didn't give it a 5, was that I wanted to see the bully/boss get what he deserved. I'm also a sucker for happy endings and wanted more info!! An Epilogue maybe?? Great read though, and a nice relaxing distraction.
