Despite being sickly and vulnerable Toby Blake was raised to be trusting and kindhearted, so much so, that he wasn't able to see it coming. He didn't see that the woman he should have been able to trust would take it into her own hands to change his future.

However, no one perceived the other set of eyes that were watching, the hands that were waiting... waiting to catch hi

Nonetheless, as I wrote and allowed the characters and plot to develop on its own it became much deeper and needed more than just one book to fully tell the story; thus, the development of The Blake Duology. Book 1 "The Devil of Gilding" is available at www.decolombo.com and will have its full release on March 15th. Book 2 "The Fallen Angel" will release in the Fall of 2016. It is fully written, but it is currently in illustration. I hope you get a chance to read them, I do not think you will be disappointed : )(less)

Thankfully I went in knowing there was more than one book. If you are looking for HEA (Happily ever after) look elsewhere. If you want a story with characters that are totally engrossing and a setting you can really immerse yourself in however, I highly recommend The Devil Of Gilding. The only negative things that come to mind have to do with having to wait for book two which of course has more to do with my patience than anything. (I usually don't start a series unless all books are available. ...more

Incredibly captivating. The characters are so real and the plot line is amazing. I will not give any spoilers, but what I will say is that this is a must read for any age especially if you enjoy a good suspense/thriller. When you are reading you want to turn the page to find out what happens next. I cannot wait for the second book. All I can say is "Have you seen Toby Blake", if you haven't you will want to read The Devil of Gilding. ...more

I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway, and enjoyed it for the most part. The characters are interesting, and the battle between good and evil is evident throughout. The author's own story was what intrigued me the most, though...I'd be interested in reading a memoir as well as the second book in the series. ...more

A very well written story of suspense/thriller. Toby is a sickly motherless young boy in need of a governess. Enters Adelaide, cousin of his deceased mother, to care for him. Nothing is as it seems.
