Finn O'Brien is a MMA fighter heading toward the Championship title. He's fearless, confident, cocky, bold, determined and with a huge ANGER boiling inside of him. The anger keeps rolling on and takes the depths of the horrible event that Finn experienced as a 10 year old. It's all a mask under which the rage is surfacing and not even the fighting outlet can relieve him of it. He ends up in a counseling program.

Sol is a student reaching toward her master's degree in psychology and an intern in a clinic. She's driven by a personal matter and a presence of a mental illness in her family that she wants to help and find a better solution for, to make an effort in making a difference and easing the fast deterirating process of her loved one. But the whole situation is slowly and progressively eating her alive.

Because this woman, who doesn't laugh, who no longer remembers me – who can't even look at me in the eye is no longer the mother I remember.

Finn and Sol have crossed path before, they know of each other through his family member connections, as Finn's older brother Killian's wife Sofia is Sol's first cousin. They eye each other and there's noticable attraction between them BUT Sol is reluctant cause of her own family situation and her schooling plans and Finn somehow feels that she would be more than just a mere one night stand so even though he's not ready to go there yet, he can't stay away.

“So why did you kiss me?“
„Because you're really pretty, cause I wanted to, and because you let me.“

Yet still, they develop a friendship based on humor, support and listening as they pull each other from the clutches of lurking sadness of their everyday's pain

“It's my way of thanking you. For giving me a smile I didn't know I had in me."
...as I watch her walk away, i realize she did the same damn thing for me.

So even though I shouldn't, I give his hand a squeeze, offering him and me a little bit of perfect in our less than perfect worlds.

and slowly their bond crosses the boundaries of more than a friendship.
For Finn she's more than support, she's the missing link in his healing of a burdened past, and he feels strong and invincible in the fighting arena too.

This...this is where I belong.
Invincible is what I am at this moment. Alive is how I feel. And strength is all I own.
It's because of Sol.
This woman has been the breath I didn't know I needed to take.

But proceeding with the sexual connection brings the old demons back and Finn finds himself crossing the thin line with bordering rage, frustration, depression leading toward emotional breakdown,

...how do you control a bloodthirsty beast who can't be satisfied –who's so crazed, so mindless, so fucking angry.

and for Sol the situation escalated after she was faced a nearing tragedy that made an impact on Finn as well, and she makes a horrible decision leaving them both a bad way as they are both falling down, disintegrating towards the mental and emotional dark abyss of hopelessness.
Sol needs to face the fact that sometimes it's not enough to want to help, it's not enough to fight, it's not enough to will it to happen, when the situation gets out of her hands, she's met with a decision to make a choice - sometimes you need to let go and make peace with yourself and focus on the ones that need you more.

"Let me help you, okay? Let me love you like you need me to...Finn...please let me."

And the only way for Finn and Sol to bring themselves back is to lean back towards each other as two broken halfs making their way to mend them whole again as one.

“And I swear to God, if you let me, i promise to love you forever..."

This was a second book in the O'Brien Family series and the second book I have read by this author. This was a story dealing with many heavy issues and complex problems and the ways of more or less coping with the same. I loved the way the characters were portrayed, they were three dimensional and „real“ the emotions they expressed were palpable and vivid and you could empathize and relate with them. They were vulnerable and humanly realistic. I very much enjoyed reading this sport romance/drama and would like to read more of the mentioned characters in these series.

I can't tell you how much I ached inside for what Sol, and especially Finn, had to deal Confession: I'm a little obsessed with the O’Brien Family. Addicted, you might say.

I can't tell you how much I ached inside for what Sol, and especially Finn, had to deal with. However, among the hurt, the residual pain, the fear of the future, was a couple that were so perfect for each other. Their banter was enough to have me cracking a smile and huffing out a laugh on several occasions. Their chemistry was scorching hot—and they burned up not just the sheets but my kindle, too. And their relationships, with each other and with their family and friends, were the beating heart at the center of a deeply emotional story.

Cecy Robson did a wonderful job of illustrating how hard it can be to let go of the past, how hard it can be to give up control, how hard it can be to move on and say goodbye, all while giving these moments of lightheartedness that easily mixed the feels with the funny.

That's EXACTLY what I hoped for from Let Me. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I knew something of (the good and bad of) Finn from Ms. Robson’s previous works, and I didn't want this book to just be angsty or just be amusing. I wanted it to feel like real life, like any progress made was authentic—not rushed or forced. I wanted Finn and Sol to be human, and have a fighting chance at happy and flirty and forever and love.

And human is exactly what they were. That's what Let Me was; a wonderfully balanced book that touched on some seriously hard subjects and still managed to be humorous and sexy. Add in the rest of the O’Brien Family, and this book managed to be one more thing…

I have a confession. I have not read bk1 in this series, although, I did find Let Me very easy to read and to get into.

The first thing that attracted me to this book was the cover, I mean *HELLO!!*, you'd have to be blind not to notice that work of beauty. And, the word MMA. After seeing that, I was sold!!

For my first Cece Robson adventure, one of the themes, I feel that I think everyone can relate to is that we all have a past. We all have a story.

Finn is a MMA fighter who has done pretty well for himself inside the ring. But he is haunted by a very traumatic past. His demons have caused him to turn to alcohol and other destructive behavior. To stay on the right track, he is trying therapy. He doesn't feel like he can open up to his therapist, but he has a strong family around him for support.

Sol is almost done getting her masters degree is psychology. She has an internship as a therapist, in the same office of Finn's doctor. Through mutu Finn is a MMA fighter who has done pretty well for himself inside the ring. But he is haunted by a very traumatic past. His demons have caused him to turn to alcohol and other destructive behavior. To stay on the right track, he is trying therapy. He doesn't feel like he can open up to his therapist, but he has a strong family around him for support.

Sol is almost done getting her masters degree is psychology. She has an internship as a therapist, in the same office of Finn's doctor. Through mutual friends, they know each other, and Finn is very attracted to Sol. But Finn's anger over his childhood is hard for him to work past. He knows his flirtation impacts Sol, but it's hard for her to reciprocate at this time in her life. Besides school, Sol's mother is very mentally ill. She has been unstable for much of Sol's life, and it's a full-time job keeping her safe. Trying to care for her mom and her dad, leaves Sol's life very busy. But Finn is persistent.

Both Sol and Finn have a lot of stuff going on in their lives. I like characters that have messy pasts and dark issues - but - I never felt my emotions get tugged in this one. I think we needed to be immersed in Sol's mother's life a little bit more. We are told about the struggles she goes through and the horrible things Sol has had to witness, but I needed to see it a little more. On Finn's side - again, very bad things happened to him in the past but the core of it felt a little skimmed over. Not that love cured it, but it sure made it better. The dark issues are presented, but I wanted them fleshed out more.

The romance in this one is sweet and sexy. There isn't a lot of build-up, they get together pretty easy, but it's cute. It was a little frustrating that they didn't share more about their current situations - the lack of communication caused some conflict. I also had a hard time that Sol at one point tells the reader to not judge her for wanting to sleep with Finn, yet Finn on numerous occasions tells us how many women he has banged in his years. I'm not a big fan of the heroine feeling she has to be sexually innocent and the hero always having to be the sex god.

Finn has a hard time with intimacy when he is not in control. This causes conflict because Sol thinks she isn't good enough for him in bed. A little communication and this would have been settled, but I guess that is why Finn is in therapy.

This is a sweet romance, light on the MMA action, heavy on darker issues swirling around. I just never felt a big connection to their romance or their issues.

This is one of my favorite books by Cecy Robson. She weaves a tale entwined with two broken souls who find not only love but acceptance of their tragic pasts. The story was beautifully told with raw emotion and poignant moments of wit that had me engaged from beginning to end. Another wonderful story by a super talented author.

Finn has always been seen as the charming and jovial O'Brien brother popular with women and a rising star in the MMA world. Behind that facade though hides a little boy still dealing with the anger and fear of being sexually abused. Those feelings are now bubbling ever closer to the surface and resulting in dangerous behavior and violent outbursts that may jeopardize his career and his life. Each smile has become a lie as darkness is overtaking his soul, even when in the ring the punches no longer make him feel anything other than numb. The change in his demeanor not only scares his family, but it's starting to scare him too as he's forced to admit he needs help. He's always been attracted to Sol and her warm smiles and caring nature, but he never made a move before out of respect for her being like family. Being close to her brings him his only glimpses of brightness and her smiles bring him warmth from the coldness of his grief and anger. Though he worries his darkness will hurt her, he'll do anything to claim her. Using all his sweet and sexy charm he wages a sensual war for her heart and soul that had me grinning one moment and frustrated the next as fate rears it's ugly head to mar their journey to HEA and forced Finn to deal with his past once and for all in an ending that was heartbreaking yet uplifting. Finn is immensely appealing, sexy and funny, and I adored how special he made Sol feel. He was charming and only wanted to make her happy, supporting her in her own emotional battles. Being with Sol brought out a lightness to his soul and when apart I feared the darkness would overtake him. The issues he dealt with were believable and packed an emotional wallop and it is with a respectful hand that Ms. Robson depicted his emotions. It was a vivid portrayal that had me sharing his pain and proud of him for surviving it.

Sol has her own issues to deal with as her mother's mental illness is getting worse and she feels as if she's the only one who can help her heal. It leaves little time for her to have a life of her own as guilt is her constant companion, but Finn is too tempting of a distraction. Just as her smiles become important to him, so too does seeing his happiness as she senses the darkness overtaking his soul. If she can't heal her mother, she'll be there for Finn as their relationship morphs from flirty friends to sexually combustible couplings. Being with him gives her a chance to escape from the sadness of slowly losing her mother to her mental illness. When tragedy strikes though, it tests them both and puts their HEA in jeopardy. Sol's reasoning at this juncture left me frustrated but I chalked it up to her guilt speaking and didn't hold it against her for too long as she was there for Finn when he needed her most in an ending that was emotionally draining but powerful. Sol's a strong-willed woman who's immensely loyal to those she cares about. Being so caring of others has her putting her own needs and desires aside as seen by the slowly evolving relationship between her and Finn as her mother's needs weighed on their time together. She's a dutiful daughter which sometimes blinds her to the truth of her mother's illness and left me sometimes frustrated in her dealings with Finn. Despite everything she was there to bring Finn back from the edge which ultimately won me over.

This was a fast-paced story full of intense emotions both in and out of the ring. The issues Finn was dealing with were palpable, his descent into darkness heartbreaking. He wasn't alone though and with each family member making an appearance it shows how close-knit they are and how supportive they are of one another. I enjoyed these scenes, and their realistically loving yet playful banter, as they provided an update on previous couples and gave readers hints of future storylines. I adored Finn for his sweet and sexy nature and for his all-consuming feelings for Sol that radiated off him even as he had trouble speaking them aloud. Sol was a very caring woman who was willing to sacrifice her happiness for others in actions that left me frustrated but empathetic to her reasons. Together, Sol and Finn are combustible with interactions teeming with witty banter and scorching encounters. Seeing them together brought a smile to my face as they brought out the best in each other and I was rooting for them through all their ups and downs. Ms. Robson handled the weighty issue of childhood sexual abuse with a caring hand in expressing the powerful emotions Finn dealt with as an adult. His emotions were visceral and pulled me into his darkness completely. It resulted in a painful journey to HEA that was richly rewarding for the empowerment it ultimately gave him. The MMA world was equally vividly depicted in exhilarating fight scenes that had me feeling each punch along with hearing the cheers of the crowd. It's a bloody world at times that Ms. Robson didn't shy away from. From start to finish this was a story that captivated me and had me falling in love with another O'Brien brother. It showed a powerful man reeling from his past saved through the power of love which makes him the quintessential hero. The emotions were powerful with a message that was uplifting and has me thinking of this story still and the engaging characters that made it possible. Each new release in this series brings me the blend of humor, family, heartache, and romance that I have come to expect and crave from this author. Finn and Sol's story broke my heart and made it whole again.

This is the second book in the O'Brien Family series which is in itself a spin-off of the Shattered Past trilogy. I recommend reading them in order starting with the Shattered Past books and making your way through the O'Brien Family because the connections are strong even if the individual Each new release in this series brings me the blend of humor, family, heartache, and romance that I have come to expect and crave from this author. Finn and Sol's story broke my heart and made it whole again.

This is the second book in the O'Brien Family series which is in itself a spin-off of the Shattered Past trilogy. I recommend reading them in order starting with the Shattered Past books and making your way through the O'Brien Family because the connections are strong even if the individual stories wrap up the plot in each book because the characters past books and future ones are present and continue in the stories.

So, this book tackles the youngest O'Brien, Finn, and the cousin of the Tres Santos', Sol Marieles. Finn was sexually abused as a child and it left deep scars that still affect him into adulthood because he never fully dealt with it and tries to ignore it. As an MMA fighter, he lets off his anger and pain in the octagon, but he does it numbly until the situation is beyond ignoring and he's forced into counseling where he runs into an old family friend who has sad, pained eyes to match his own.

Sol is working on her internship to get into mental health treatment and counseling. She is driven by living with a beloved mother who has psychotic breaks or is barely there when she is on her meds. Her mother doesn't recognize Sol and losing her mom to her mental issues has been hard on Sol and her dad. She can't possibly take on anything else between her internship and her mom's illness when she encounters fun-loving and flirty Finn O'Brien who has been her secret crush for years. Sol doesn't know what has driven Finn into counseling, but she wants to shy away from another person needing help in her life even as she feels the attraction and connection so strongly.

Finn has never been able to talk about his past and the counseling doesn't seem to help, but being around Sol has a different affect. He opens up to her and they start to spend time together. She becomes his everything until a sad twist and it is all gone. Finn doesn't know if he even wants to pull himself back from the edge this time after Sol pushes him away. And for Sol, she is convinced that love isn't enough and that she is really showing Finn just how much she loves him by walking away.

Yes, this one was enough to crush my heart. I felt so badly for this pair of hurting people. But in the midst of such a story, there is also humor, family togetherness, community, hot MMA action, and passionate romance. The raw emotions match the situation and I didn't mind that as a result.

I like how the author develops the characters, the romance, and doesn't shirk on an actual steady plot to tie it all together. I really enjoy the love and camaraderie of these two families- one Irish and the other Cuban- who grew up in their old Philly neighborhood still close and there for each other. Each new book features a new pair of lovers, but yet it is the ongoing story of all of them. I am eager for whatever story comes next.

All in all, this was another fantastic, heartwarming read. Feisty and Flirty Finn and Sunny, Caring Sol were a wonderful pair. Those who love to be touched deeply with the emotional side, those who love MMA sports action, and those who love a strong sense of family should definitely pick this one up.

WOW!! Just WOW!!! I have to say that Cecy Robson has completely blown me away with Let Me. I’m an avid reader, and I love all sorts of books, but this one has probably touched my heart in ways that no other book has. Robson took me to dark places within her characters’ minds and broke my heart, then she put it back together as her characters put their own hearts back together. I cried like a baby…ugly, ugly cry from my heart breaking and cried just as hard with joy when Finn and Sol ~5 +++ Stars~

Like the synopsis says, Finn is almost beyond broken. He’s an MMA fighter who is on his way to the big leagues, but he’s not only fighting opponents, he’s fighting the darkness that threatens to overtake him. He’s fought this since he was a child, but as he’s grown older, it’s getting worse. He feels only numbness until Sol comes into his life. They’ve know each other since they were kids, and now their families are connected by marriage. Finn now reigns as #1 on my book boyfriend list! Not because of his sexiness, drop dead gorgeousness, or his naughty mouth…it’s his heart! It’s broken, and he fights every day to live a normal life. He’s fierce in the ring, but his bravery in reclaiming his life trumps every punch his throws in the octagon. How this broken man can bring a smile to Sol’s face and my face as I read the book is beyond anything I’ve seen. And, Sol, she’s just as fierce as Finn. She loves him and her feelings for him never change even when she learns of his past. As she fights for him, she fights for her family, and herself. Both of them are amazing people individually, but together, they are unstoppable!

Robson couldn’t have picked a better title for this book! It really sums up the relationship between these two…they have to let each other in and lean on the other to heal. I truly don’t think I have the right words to describe this book. At times, it’s incredibly difficult to read, but I’m so glad I did. When you read that last chapter, you will see there really are no adequate words to describe how incredible this book and the characters are. I pray that someone who has gone through anything like Finn and Sol have will find hope and know that even though bad things can happen to you, you can heal, and you can find happiness and live a life filled with joy and love! Thank you, Cecy Robson, for writing a book I will NEVER forget. Finn and Sol will forever remain in my heart!!!!

Let Me is the raw and emotional second book in the O’Brien Family Series by Cecy Robson, which follows the lives of the O’Brien brothers. I did not read the first book (although now I really want to) and felt that this was easy to follow as a stand-alone novel.

Let Me brings us into the world of Mixed Martial Arts fighting, as the hero, Finn, is gearing up to be the next MMA champion. One of the reasons that he has grown into an undefeated fighter is his troubled past, which fuels his aggression Let Me is the raw and emotional second book in the O’Brien Family Series by Cecy Robson, which follows the lives of the O’Brien brothers. I did not read the first book (although now I really want to) and felt that this was easy to follow as a stand-alone novel.

Let Me brings us into the world of Mixed Martial Arts fighting, as the hero, Finn, is gearing up to be the next MMA champion. One of the reasons that he has grown into an undefeated fighter is his troubled past, which fuels his aggression in the arena. The emotions he has buried deep inside benefit him in the ring, but naturally not in the real world. This aggression leads him to trouble and he finds himself being mandated by the courts to see a therapist, which takes him right to Sol Marieles. She’s a family friend, so there is some hesitation between the two of them, but the chemistry was definitely sizzling between these two! Sol is completing her Masters in Psychology internship and feels overwhelmed and fearful that she will make mistakes- especially since she will be effecting the lives of her clients. She’s also dealing with family issues of her own, helping her Mother, who is suffering with mental illness and her own guilt of not being able to help her from the deterioration that comes with that sickness.

Finn and Sol begin a journey together filled with raw emotion and personal growth- along with some super-sexy romance. They share fun banter, which I always love in my book relationships, but they also have this amazing passionate connection. It’s such a “can’t put it down” story and I guarantee you will enjoy every minute- even the scenes that may bring you to tears. Cecy Robson does such an amazing job with this novel- it is real and tragic and painful and at the same time full of light and hope and love, because we get to watch Finn and Sol grow with the help and strength of each other.

There is the topic of childhood sexual abuse trauma, but it doesn’t go too deep into details. For some I know this can be a trigger, so I just wanted to put that out there.

I give Let Me 4.5 stars, it’s a powerful novel- one you’ll definitely need a box of tissues for.

Finn is a rough and tough MMA fighter. He is also one the sexiest men in all of Philly with his brothers taking up other spots on that list. Finn is hot but he is also hot around the collar. He has rage and anger issues that are caused by a past that haunts him still.

Let me just tell you this book took me on one emotional ride. The author did an amazing job on pulling out the emotions of the characters. My heart just bled for Finn and Sol. They are both damaged souls that could use some light during their darkest times. The strength that they give each other is just something to see. I am not going to lie I love every book I have read by this author! I think she puts a lot of effort into her character development that makes them stand apart. This was no exception. An emotional rollercoaster for me. I laughed, cried, and had to fan myself a bit.

I’ll admit right up front to being a big fan of this author. Her Weird Girls series is one of my all-time favorites in paranormal romance. And I’ve read all the other books in the O’Brien family series and loved them. So, it should come as no surprise that I enjoyed this book as well. Here’s the stuff that worked for me:

I’ll admit right up front to being a big fan of this author. Her Weird Girls series is one of my all-time favorites in paranormal romance. And I’ve read all the other books in the O’Brien family series and loved them. So, it should come as no surprise that I enjoyed this book as well. Here’s the stuff that worked for me:

1. Sol is Latina. I think there is a staggering lack of representation of non-caucasian heroes and heroines in romance today. Sol was smart and tough and caring and everything a reader could want from a romance heroine AND she wasn’t white. (Take note of that, publishers who say characters who aren’t white “don’t sell.”)

2. Both Sol and Finn have some pretty horrific emotional damage to overcome, but the details of all that horrific emotional damage were somewhat muted, so I didn’t feel traumatized by the read. (Just so y’all can’t say I didn’t warn you, this book includes discussions of past child abuse, suicide, mental illness, and violence. Child abuse is a hard limit for me, and even I didn’t feel triggered by this one. It was handled well, and no gory details were given. I REALLY appreciated that.)

3. I enjoyed seeing little glimpses of the rest of the O’Brien family, but their presence never overpowered Sol and Finn’s story. And this book stands nicely on its own. If you haven’t read the rest of the series, you could pick this one up and not feel like you were missing crucial parts of the story.

4. The angst level was just right. It was angsty, but not so angsty that I felt exhausted after reading it. (I can’t really handle high levels of angst. I’m too old and grumpy for that.)

5. MMA-fighting heroes are hot. That is all.

So, Romance Rehab, you’re probably saying, if you liked the book so much, why not give it a 5-star rating instead of 4? Well, the only thing that didn’t really work for me was how easily the couple’s problems were solved by love. It seemed like all that emotional damage was overcome by this couple falling in love. Yes, Finn went to a few court-mandated therapy sessions that probably helped, but it was ultimately Sol who “saved him” from his destructive behavior. I kind of felt like if she ever left him, he’d instantly revert back to his old ways. I would’ve enjoyed it more if Finn had figured out how to “fix” himself (maybe with the help of his fantastic family) and not used Sol as glue to hold himself together.

But, minor quibble aside, this is a great addition to the O’Brien family series, and this author remains one of my favorites. It’s a rare author who can bounce back and forth from paranormal to contemporary, and I admire the hell out of her for being able to pull it off so flawlessly.

We follow one of the O’Brien’s brothers here and it’s Finn’s turn to come on stage, accompanied by Sol, someone close to Theo. This is how we find all the characters we have discovered and it is a pleasure to know what they became. But back to our two main characters, two people broken by life … Finn had a trauma in his youth, something he still wears today and is impossible to forget. To get rid of his rage, fighting has become a loophole. Yet, lately, this is not enough anymore and after an incident, he is now obliged to follow a therapy. Thus he crosses the path of Sol. This young woman tries to get her master’s degree in psychology to help her family. Indeed, her mother is sick and although father and daughter try to take care of her at home, the situation is getting worse and worse … So a story between her and Finn seems impossible, especially when he is known for going from one girl to another very quickly, and yet … An indescribable link is created between the two characters and even though our hero is determined to make Sol succumb, the latter is much more suspicious. It is important to say that their problems take an important place in their lives and they will have to move forward, make choices and perhaps even help each other to heal.

I really had a great time with this novel. It is very difficult to see everything our two characters have endured. We are nevertheless taken by the story, following the two characters and waiting to see their next actions. It was a really touching story and I was hoping that the two characters would find their happy ending. It will not be easy and they will have to work on themselves but it was a really touching sequel. Once again, Cecy Robson presents us with a very good book and I will now be able to get into Crave Me! ...more
