A gift for someone, bought second hand and had a read to educate my architecture brain. - Parthenon had 80% of its budget spent on gold, ivory, statue of Athena, the frieze etc. In other words on decoration and features. - Chartres had 65% of budget spent on stained glass, columns and sculpture. I think their point is obvious, when considering today's buildings, how much of budget goes towards the aesthetics?
