When my copy of New Testament Challenge arrived I was surprised by how slim the book itself was. Quickly flipping through it once, I knew immediately that it was designed to be simple, comprehensive and adaptable. As I read through the ten sections more slowly I realized that what Orr has produced is infinitely valuable if for no other reason than that it exposes the reader to every page of the New Testament. In an age when printed words on the page are vying for our attention every moment with fast-moving, colorful images and nonsense sounds, the Challenge to get back to reading God's Word directly was never more important, or more endangered. Perhaps more than at any other time in our modern age of widespread literacy, knowledge of the scriptures is gathered randomly, and second-hand.
If you've never read through the New Testament, Orr's study will give you a way to keep track of your progress, with each day requiring manageable portions for reading and reflection. In fact, the questions are not daunting, but rather they aid the reader in reading deliberately. Instead of simply reading just to get through the task, you are made more aware of what you're reading as you go. Some of the questions are precise, others are more open-ended, but all of them help you keep your eyes and mind open as you go. If you have read the New Testament, this places the chapters in a unique reading order - sometimes leading to unnoticed connections and fresh associations.
Like any good bible study, this one can be easily adapted in the hands of more experienced bible readers. In fact, after going through it yourself it could make a simple source or outline for a group study, with many of the questions ideal for initiating discussions. Those who are always looking for a store of lesson outlines or thought-provoking prompts will find plenty to work with.
Orr's book captures something basic to the Christian life: following Christ is a challenge; studying his Word is a challenge; persevering and trusting him is a challenge. But the challenge is never greater than the reward, and with this book you can find both.

Easy to Use

This is one of the most straight forward Bible study's I have ever used. The author doesn't bog the reader down with lengthy reading assignments, the questions at the end of each lesson help the reader to retain the Word, and I loved the verse memorization.
This book is perfect for anyone wanting to read and understand the New Testament. ☆☆☆☆☆

I was given a copy of this book for a honest review.
I have all was wanted to tackle reading the bible and I've really tried but I always seem to loose interest so this workbook is a blessing.
It is broke down by ten weeks with six days of reading and of course one day of rest If you follow the guide it is simple to read the new testament in 10 weeks. Each day breaks down what looks like about a hours worth of reading (based on my reading habits) and then about four workbook questions. (I would guess might take me a half hour on a bad day) so yep I am going to finally tackle the one book I always wanted to finish but my attention deficit disorder wouldn't let me.
This is just a workbook so if you don't have a copy of the bible you will need one by the way. (Keeping my opinion to myself on that subject)
This book would be great for a study group or a individual just wanting to finally read the bible.
