A well researched account of the many and varied French expeditions in the Southern Oceans. It was fascinating to discover the reasons why there are 400 French place names around the Australian coastline, and to realise just how close France came to claiming part of Australia. Also a reminder that we have only learnt the English version of the history of our continent.
