On the whole I thought it an honest portrayal of the history of Universalism. I find that I identify with many of the theological principles and beliefs of 19th Century Universalists much more than I agree with the ultra-liberal direction the church has taken as of late.
It was enlightening and refreshing to read, if a bit dry in content. With minimal commentary and a focus on the historical documents I think it is a great introduction to anyone seriously considering the adoption of Universalist beliefs.
A wonderful collection of writings from the Universalist Church of America before it merged with the Unitarian Church. It showcases the Trinitarianism and "Conservatism" of some of the earlier leaders.
