Anne Civardi was born and educated in Africa and has lived in America, but has spent the majority of her life in London. She studied art both in Colorado, USA, and London, where she graduated from Heatherley’s School of Fine Art. Anne writes children's books and is associated with Usborne.

This book is excellent. This book has two separate versions which may be read independently or as a longer story. The version at the top of the page is a simple sentence version of the book and is approximately a first grade reading level. The version at the bottom of the page is a more complicated and detailed version of the book and is approximately a second or third grade reading level. A great way to read this book to a baby or toddler is to read only the top line. As the child gets older, read the bottom line as well. When the child starts to read, have them read the top line and you the bottom line. This will give them a great sense of accomplishment which is so important for success in reading. Thought it'd be funny to pluck this one off the shelf, since this is what I'm experiencing this very moment--and boy is it a first experience.

Pros:
Demonstrates responsible puppy care, such as taking a new puppy to the vet for his shots.

Cons:
The family in the book gets their puppy from someone who has bred their dog, not from a shelter or rescue. (But at least they didn't go to a pet shop!)

Also: That's one strange lawnmower.
