I'm D. Camille and I am an avid reader and author. I started reading romance books when I was thirteen and since then I've read hundreds. I wanted to write a series that contained the culture and history of the African and African American people.

I like to utilize historical information, science and ancient beliefs. I write for people to enjoy, think, analyze and learn; not only about the characters but hopefully also about themselves. I love to hear from my readers. Write me and tell me about your favorite characters and what you love about them. Me, I love all of them...they came from my heart.

Ase! (so let it be)

Rion Shaw is a sexy Alpha. Tauri Patterson is fierce sister, These two are a well ordered match. When Rion discovers she carries a gun, he is hooked. These two are drawn by an attraction born in the stars.

Rion is a driven man who desires to change his hometown, Detroit. Tauri is a lawyer who is all about her home, Detroit. Rion's plan to make his hometown better will involve him , his brother and several friends. In this age of subtle hate of African Americans, Rion is all game to end a portion that tries to put limits on the dreams of many. Tauri is his support and ally to help him obtain his dreams.

I loved this story with the HEA and the drama in between. Great job, D Camiile.. I look forward to more in this series. It was great to see Marc, Jordan, Sage, Diamond , Ray, Trent and others make an appearance here.. Few typos...but a great read..

After reading the "Black Diamond" series, I was so happy to see D. Camille's new series, "The Lion." Overall, I thought the book was good, but not great. I liked that the book was set in my hometown of Detroit. I really liked the cameos from the "Black Diamond" series. I liked the premise of the book, the idea of a black man being the first to own a major league baseball team.

But, other things about the book disappointed me. One, I would have liked the book to be more descriptive. For instance, when Rion and Tauri are having dinner to celebrate. It would have been nice to know what restaurant he took her to. What they ordered and ate. How it tasted...something. Not just they went out to eat and talked as they ate their food. And, when Tauri cooked for him or when he set up the romantic dinner on the roof. It would have made me envision the scene better with a description of what she cooked or the food he'd chosen. Also, a description of the cars they drove would have been nice. Because, that gives the reader a better insight to the character, by the kind of car they drive. In the book the author just mentions, that they get in their car. Usually, I think some authors are too descriptive, but in this case not enough.

Also, I didn't feel the connection between the two main characters (Rion and Tauri) as I did Jordan and Sage in "Black Diamond" books. This book dragged to me. It had a lot of filler, but nothing moving the story forward. I started getting bored at times. The demise of the villain was anticlimactic to me. I would have liked more action, more intrigue. I would have liked to actually see how dangerous and badass Rion and his friends were instead of the author just mentioning it over and over. Let the reader experience it, like with Jordan, Sean and Ray and even Sage in the "Black Diamond" series.

Tauri, is prosecuting this big case, but it's glossed over. We don't get to experience what it would take to put on this case, how the prosecution would prepare, etc. We get her in her office a lot, and her telling Rion she has a lot of work to do. But, nothing actually happens to show the details involved with preparing a case. Missed opportunity. It felt like filler, no substance. I've read other books where a lawyer was a main character, done much better, like author, Pamela Samuels, Vernetta Henderson book series.

Although, okay the book fell short to me. I hope in the first book of the "Uncut Diamond" series due out in the spring, the author brings the action, intensity of the Black Diamond books.

..And They Keep Coming!

The Lion (The Black Land Series Book 1) did not disappoint. For anybody who was skeptical about this book after the tremendous debut of the Black Diamond Series, there should be no doubt. D Camille knows what she is doing!
The characters are fierce, handsome, and beautiful! The storyline captivates and pulls the reader in with drama, suspense, intrigue and love!
The characters, Orion, Tauri, Brandon, Khalil, Corvus, Lance, the parents and grandparents are dynamic and unforgettable. As an added bonus, we are introduced to more of the Khemetic culture. How about that Negus! I loved the way some of the Black Diamonds had cameos in the story. This book is a 5 Star winner all the way! It gives the reader a whole new look at the D! I can't wait for the next book.

Oh That Lion can Roar

D. Camille hit that out the park. Orion, called Rion former Baseball superstar and Tauri, Lead Prosecutor spark from the jump. I love how D. Camille threw in a nice surprise. I highly recommend this book. It will make you laugh, angry, and make you believe in love at first sight. I loved it start to finish.

Dcamille is the truth!

I love the characters that she creates, you have to love the Black warriors in her books. If I wasn't married to the man of my dreams, I would fall in love with Rion.

I am once AGAIN CAUGHT UP in a D. Camille series...The Black Land series has captured my FULL attention and kept me turning the page...Rion and Tauri have an INTENSE and fiery first meeting...despite their less than cordial first encounter...Rion is POSITIVE that Tauri Patterson is the goddess he’s been searching for all his adult life...and not even their less than enthusiastic meeting is going to STOP him from making her his...once they get past the brief animosity the SPARKS fly...The FULL cast of characters is very entertaining and quite COLORFUL...and the mystery and suspense kept me engaged...and it’s ALWAYS great catching up w/the Black Diamonds and Uncut Diamonds...I’m so looking forward to the next book...KUDOS on another GOOD series!

Amazing

This author continues to amaze me with her story telling ability. She has really given me a passion for reading and researching my history. This book has really put life, society, economics, social perspectives into a bigger light for me. A lot of the questions that Tauri has I have often asked myself in regards to relationships, dreams, goals, destiny, & purpose. This book has showed me the meaning of “you have to stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything”. I hope she continues to write more phenomenal books about romance, love, social inequalities, Justice, dreams & religion.

Epic

The storyline was an awesome read from beginning to end. I love the man in this story. His determination and drive for change in his community. He is a true representation of a King in his woman's life. Orion put his woman on the pedestal that every woman should be on when it comes to her man. I love how strong and protective Tiere was for Orion. I love how the characters are protective of each other. A true representation of a family. Everyone role was represented. Loved It!!!

A fascinating story of the triumph of love and excellence over hate , fear and greed.

The theme of this story is so timely in this age of blatant racism and discrimination. The happy ending is temporary fictional relief to an age old systemic worldwide problem that faces people of color.

Good Book

I enjoyed reading Rion and Tauri's story. They were perfect for each other. I'm glad that Rion was able to accomplish his dream of owning a baseball team. They went through a lot to get the team but they made it. It's sad that racism is still alive in this world today.

The Lion

I felt like I was in a blacksploitation movie and I could not get out. Don't get me wrong, I love some Blacksploitation movies, but there were some things that annoyed me about this story. Even though it started out slow and I picked it up and put it down several times, it was a decent story.

One of my favorite scenes was when Rion and his friends were talking to the young people. But, what kept me engaged was the mystery and suspense in the tale. The romance felt forced, but it improved as the story progressed. And if you are wondering will I read the other books in this series, yes I will. I'm curious to see what happens to the of the other members of the Negus.

I love the smart, strong, sexy, tall dark & handsome, not afraid to show love and express himself, protective...oh and wealthy helps (smirk) Alpha male that's not controlling but is respectful of his love interest. I love a smart, fearless, strong, ambitious, compassionate never a doormat woman. This was a power couple that had one another's back from beginning to end. I wish more authors got it like this. No thug drug dealing ex con lovin. But strong hardworking honest smart black men that are loyal providers and protectors... YEEEESSSSS!!!!

So So Good!!!

How do you say this was the bomb without screaming every time? This story was so sexy funny steamy good that I couldn't believe when it ended. When you read stories of successful men and women, that are so in charge of who and what they are you just want to hold tight. What do you say to a man who knows what he wants? If it was me and Rion was that man yes would be written on my forehead. This is how you hit it out of the park ,when introducing a new series and a whole crop of sexy people. This was a wonderful way to spend my reading time.

God and Goddess by Denise Anderson (BRAB)

D Camille gives us history lesson on the Khemetic culture which is awesome . Tauri and Rion is a power couple that faces a corrupt government system in their home town of Detroit. The novel gives suspense ,drama, betrayal, deceit, romance and protecting loves ones. The secondary characters are the Negus who don't play. Love the grandparents and Rion parents which plays an important role. This debut novel sets the stage for the next chapter , Read this novel Ms D Camille writes novels that will keep you up all night!

This book was just okay for me! I have read all her other books and they were really good, but this book I felt something missing, I kept waiting for something big or unexpected to happen, but it didn't! I did however enjoy the characters and the storyline, it started off a little slow, then picked up pace. I wasn't surprised about Lisa, it was something off about her from the moment she made her appearance. Okay read!

It was great to hear from Jordan, Sage, Trent, Diamond and Marcus from The Black Diamond series. Can't wait for other stories about the rest of the Negus. Great book!

Outstanding!!

This was my first book by D Camille and it definitely won't be my last! I found myself laughing out loud and on the edge of my seat. The only complaint that I have is that the ending was a bit rushed. I was kept on edge throughout the story, only for the ending to be just a quick "oh, by the way". But even with that it was still worth 5 stars because the story was just that great! On to The Bull!!
