It's about time for Friends on a Rotten Day , the first astrology book to focus entirely on friendships. After all, lovers come and go, but our girlfriends sustain, nurture, and protect us from cradle to grave. Friends on a Rotten Day explores the supportive, uproarious, and sometimes complex, relationships between girlfriends through an indepth astrological analysis of each Sun sign. DixonCooper shows readers what makes their friend tick on a soul level, revealing each friend's inner character, friendship style, love style (including what to do or not do if a pal picks a loser), and party style. She offers suggestions on the best gifts to buy your friend, how to calm her down, cheer her up, and return the unconditional support and love that she gives you. Readers will discover why their Gemini buddy changes her mind so often, why the Virgo gal pal sweats the small stuff, why a Scorpio girlfriend sometimes seems distant, and why the Leo chum needs frequent headpats. They'll also learn why a Pisces pal should never be forced to make a snap decision, why a Capricorn girlfriend might seem too serious for her own good, the truth about a Taurus friend's hidden anxieties, the competitive side of an Aries chum, what causes Cancer pal's emotional train wrecks, why the Aquarius buddy has a rebellious side, and why the Sagittarius girlfriend has occasional angry outbursts. "Dixon-Cooper reveals what every astrologer knows but none has dared say. (She) takes us on a seriously humorous ride through the land of truth and consequences. I highly recommend it." Have you ever had a friend do something odd or act in a way where you are saying to yourself "WTF"? Well I have and that is why I picked up this book. First of all I turned to the Gemini section (mine) and read up on myself. What I love about the "Rotten" books (Yes, I also have Born on a Rotten Day and Love on a Rotten Day) is that they give you the negative side of your sign as well as a small bit of the positive side. I like to see my downfalls so that I can be aware of them and hopefully change or catch them before they happen. I found myself shaking my head at how my friends must view me at times but also feeling good that now I knew what to watch for in myself. Then I turned to my friends' signs and my sister's sign and it really helped me to see why they acted they way they did at times. These are all fun books to read. Hazel is the Cosmo astrology girl so if you like reading about astrology with some humor pick one or all of these books up. :)
This was a great astrology book, but keep in mind the author does write for Cosmopolitan. Meaning, it comes across as girly at times.
For instance, the part of this book that was the weakest was the “Bitch Factor” section on each one of the signs. Even the writing dwindled.
The terminology or made up nicknames were cheesy (“Know-It-All Kate”, “Wishy-washy Juanita”, “Deceitful Donna”) and detracted from the valuable information that this book actually consisted of.
Otherwise, I have no doubt the author is an excellent astrologer.
This book doesn't hit as much as Born on a Rotten Day: Illuminating and Coping with the Dark Side of the Zodiac and Love on a Rotten Day: An Astrological Survival Guide to Romance. Though the other books don't take themselves seriously, I could relate and find them more "accurate" - I can draw connections from the descriptions. I can't say I had a similar experience combing through this read though I still love the author.

I loved this book. Finally an astrology book that helps you navigate friendships. I enjoyed spotting the character traits in most of my friends (only one seems to not fit their profile) but at the same time I can see the negatives and quirks and understand why it makes them this way. It's light and fluffy and won't tax the brain. As a wannabe writer I also found reading through the star signs that I had the basis of quite a few new characters.
