Little Chick and the Secret of Sleep by Malachy Doyle takes young readers on an imaginative journey through a bedtime story as a wide-awake chick follows the moon’s silvery glow on a nighttime adventure. In her search for the secret of sleep, chick discovers three new friends who share her problem. The story builds with each new friend as chick unravels their varied sleep problems and culminates with chick, monkey, dragon, and elephant finding the perfect night’s sleep snuggled together.
The quiet voice and gentle language create a soothing experience for youngsters. The charming colorful pictures fill the pages with simple, but appealing imagery.

This story teaches the components and importance of sleep. The central character is a chick who is unable to sleep. She ends up traveling around the world and meets many other types of animals who have trouble sleeping as well. Each characters cannot sleep for a different reason. Eventually it is determined that the secret of sleep is being tired, safe, cosy and quiet to sleep.

This story is one which would likely be used for very young students who are in preschool or early elementary grades. That being said, the illustrations are very rich and the story is very simple to follow.

Little Chick had learned the secrets of sleep which are you need to be tired, safe, cosy and quiet. My granddaughters favorite animal friend helping little chick was the dragon with its bright green color. Amazing and colorful pictures. Very inviting for your little one to want to know the story. Back page has notes for discussion about the book. It's a nice time to spend with your children. I highly recommend this book. Malachy Doyle hat's off to you!

I was given this book from QEB Publishing for a honest review.

The secret of sleep. TIRED-SAFE-COZY-and QUIET!
Yep...that works for me! Cute book with nice pictures. A great bedtime story or for kids that struggle falling asleep. The chick goes on an adventure and asks other animals how to fall asleep!

Mały kurczaczek nie może zasnąć. Wyrusza w nocną podróż do małpek, słonia i smoka, by odkryć, że trzeba być zmęczonym, czuć się bezpiecznie, musi być cicho, ciepło i przytulnie.

It’s really nice that all of the other animals help him go to sleep.
