2019 Daily Inspirational read. This one has been an absolute delight. On the practical side it's small and tucks into my pocket if I'm taking my practice outside the deck or to my glasshouse. I love books with ribbon book marks. Also like that it has actual Dates E.g. December 31st not Day 365. I can make sure I'm on the right day without having to do math in the mornings. It's definitely one I will read again.
This book contains a ton of mostly superficial information about yoga. A book like this isn't expected to contain a lot of depth, but to give a person direction in the practice of yoga. I liked that Ms. Harwood Rubin gave a lot of suggestions on applying the yoga concepts to life in general. I liked the stories about the Hindu gods and goddesses, but they aren't something I'd necessarily share with my students.
I like the way Ms. Harwood Rubin gave practicality to poses and symbolism to extract from poses into daily life. I especially liked her thoughts on gate pose.
I read this book cover to cover in a matter of a couple of days, which I recognize is not how to use this book. I wanted to read it through before using it as a daily tool, so I know what to expect in the future.
I did find this book to be very repetitive, which did disappoint me, because yoga is a discipline in which there is a vast collection of concepts and practices to share, and I think this book misses that in a way with its repetition.
This book will be a good resource for me to use both personally and with my students.
Full of the wisdom of yoga with a practical approach — a focus on how to bring the practice of yoga and meditation into your everyday life. As a yoga teacher, I often use one of the readings as the theme for that day’s yoga class. Short, succinct, and well-focused.
This is a stunner! Gorgeous and simple, it goes straight to the light of beauty and insight. I got it on my kindle, and then realized I needed the print version, which is so cute. I often use it like a tarot deck, or just open and read the page for todays date. This is one of my favorite yoga books ever! <3
