I’m a big fan of redemption stories. When an author can take a formerly unlikable character from a previous novel and bring them to an understanding of God’s grace and love, I am impressed. And that is what this author has done with the character of Brett. If you read the first book in the Misty Willow series, Where She Belongs, you will recognize Brett as an all around slime ball. If you haven’t read book one, I think that When Love Arrives could be read as a stand alone. But I think Brett’s jo ...more

Brett Somers is trying to change his life. He's not the man that he used to be. When he meets Dani Prescott outside of the children's hospital, he has no idea that she's trying to gather information that could discredit him. As an upcoming young professional, Brett mentioned in an interview that he blamed the pilot for the crash that killed his parents. He didn't know that Dani's mother was the pilot and that she was killed as well. Dani's determined to find something that will discredit Brett. ...more

Brett's cavalier lifestyle begins to not offer the contentment it once did. After a couple of sobering events, he begins to self analyze and make positive changes.

The female main character, Dani, had a difficult childhood and is filled with bitterness toward Brett and his money and what appears to be an easy life.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting up to date with AJ, Shelbey, Meghan, Jonah and Amy. There were several sweet interactions between Brett and Dani and the ending was Hallmark Movie worthy. T

I was a bit conflicted as to what to rate this one, because, though I really identified with Brett's struggle to change his life (doing it under his own power instead of God's, at first, was quite painful to watch!) from spoiled playboy to decent citizen. As far as personal preference goes, it got a little too detailed in parts—not something I object to morally; it's tastefully done—but I simply don't enjoy spending a lot of time in vapid, drunken company, and a number of scenes in the

Ahh, after reading a few not so good books, I needed this! Such a sweet light read, but with deeper truths and meanings woven throughout the story.
I loved the characters. They were intriguing and in one way or another, you could relate to them. And the fact that one of the main characters wrote a WWII short story, loves old WWII-era movies and quoted "Fiddler on the Roof" was just awesome. It made me want to just sit and be able to talk with Dani for a day. ;)

It would have been a 5-star, but th

Be prepared for a tummy-flipping, heart-dropping emotional roller coaster of a read. Honestly, I was so anxious about Dani's deception that I squirmed my way through this story. Oy. I kept ranting at her, begging her, cajoling her -- 'Just talk to him!' I pleaded but did she? Nope. Sigh. I made need counseling after this one.

But for all the angst this is a stunning redemption story. If you read Where She Belongs (the first book in the Misty Willow series) you will be familiar with Brett. Shudder

This story had a surprisingly unhurried feel to it, considering how much was going on. It’s probably best to read the previous book in this series, Where She Belongs, prior to picking this one up, as Brett’s story really begins there. But even if you don’t, you will find the pieces are filled in as the story progresses (but no info dumps, thank goodness!)

One of the main benefits of having read the previous novel in the series will be in understanding Brett Somers’ character. At the beginning of

When Love Arrives is a fantastic story of the moving and sometimes tumultuous journey through anger and guilt to friendship and then love. I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure at the start, grew addicted in the middle and by the end I was gingerly turning the pages hoping, begging for one more chapter and that, please, don't let it be over.

This is the second book in the Misty Willows series. It would be best to read these in series order. I enjoyed When Love Arrives more than I did the fir

Johnnie Alexander has done it again with a story few romance lovers will be able to resist. Dani and Brett have every reason to hate each other. Dani's mother killed Brett's family through pilot error and worse, Brett knows it and blames her. Dani will never forgive Brett for saying so in a speech and sh'e out to ruin his life -- and what better way than to date the man?

Both Brett and Dani were real, hurting characters and I felt sorry for both of them. Brett especially is lovable with his less

The story follows a young woman, Dani, who is determined to get even with rich playboy Brett for the hateful thing she said about her mother on tv. She doesn't belive her mother was at fault in any way for the accident that took her and Brett's parent's lives. It has become so tiring to see selfish, rich people like Brett getting away with anything they please just because they have money. Any dirt she can use to humiliate him, will be used.

So how exactly did she wind up becoming his date?

The storyline of When Love Arrives by Johnnie Alexander takes place in a town named Misty Willows. This book is the second in the Misty Willows series, and I had not yet read Where She Belongs, which is the first book, but based on some of the reviews I read, it would have been helpful to know the characters a little better before reading this book. Given the time, I would probably gone back and read Where She Belongs first.

I do not like giving bad reviews. Honestly. I absolutely hate it. It is the worst part about doing book reviews. But, I have to give my honest opinion on every book I read.

First things first, the overall plot was confusing. If I hadn’t read the back cover of the book, I would have been even more confused than I am now. Why is she stalking Brett? Because of any interview? What? Why? How? And honestly, if you were seriously stalking/following someone to get revenge, you would not go on a date wit

Alexander has given us a story of God's grace and second chances. The novel opens with Dani Prescott is stalking Brett Somers. His parents died in an airplane crash in which Dani's mother, the pilot, also died. He had said some pretty harsh things about the pilot, claiming the fatal accident was all her fault. Dani is out to cause him the same amount of hurt he has caused her.

Brett sees her across a street and the two meet. He is immediately attracted to her and they start spending time together

When Love Arrives by Johnnie Alexander is a sweet and well played sequel to Where She Belongs, book 1 of the Misty Willow series. Though, I surmise one can read When Love Arrives as a standalone, but it really needs to be read as part of series, in continuity. Lucky for me, I've read book 1 and I also happened to have loved it. Really, those girls, Tabby and Elizabeth are a-dorable! And I'm thrilled to see their appearance in When Love Arrives, along with their sidekick lab, Lila. The other char ...more

This is a review for When Love Arrives by Johnnie Alexander. Danny has been following Brad's because he blames her mother for the plane crash that killed his parents. He conducted a TV interview publicly blaming her. So she wants to publicly humiliate him. It backfires just a tad bit when he sees her and he ends up asking her out. An easy going, unhurried story, 'When Love Arrives' was just the book to read, when you want a lift. Despite both Dani & Brett coming from two very different worlds, they have a past that binds them. Dani is seeking to tear down the pedestal Brett has self made for himself. Full of anger and hurt she has one goal in mind. But then they meet by accident, and he gives her little choice but to become friends. I loved the contrast of their background. Some may call it a Cinderella story, however ...more

What would you do if you sought revenge only to discover the person you wanted to hurt was not at all what you first thought?

When Love Arrives brings two very different people with two very different worlds together. Inevitably sparks will fly, but whether they are healing or destructive is another matter.

I might feel Brett was too good to be true if it weren’t for his tainted past. Dani is bitter — understandably so. Both characters have growing and healing to do, and as in reality, sometimes t

Brett Somers may be the quintessential reformed rogue, but Johnnie Alexander gives his story depth as well as charm. Dani Prescott’s character plays nicely off of Brett’s personality, though her motivations did seem somewhat overly reactionary. Still, their interactions are full of flirtation and sparks and heart and all the elements that define great romance. Along with a multi-layered plot and warm supporting characters, the author’s mastery of setting helps the reader feel part of the story. ...more

This was more of a 3.5 for me. This is a book in a series, but can be read as a stand alone. The story was a little complex. There was some definite attraction between Dani and Brett, that was a gradual attraction, that led to honest, genuine emotions, and feelings. Dani and Brett both have secrets that gradually come out, and they also fight the attraction for various reasons. Brett is definitely a fallen character, that is seeking to redeem his past mistakes,

When Love Arrives is the continuation of the story that was started in Where She Belongs. This time the focus of the story shifts from AJ and Shelby to Brett and Dani. Dani Prescott is a new character and from the very beginning she's one that I wanted the best for.

Dani is torn by her past and has a plan to set the record straight. Her target is Brett. He is pretty much enemy number one but the more she gets to know him personally the harder it is to keep her anger and need for revenge at the fo

Take a moral degenerate looking to reform, a rudderless young woman who is attempting to stalk him, have them meet and begin dating.  What comes out of this, from Johnnie Alexander, is a story that holds the readers attention.  Prior characters are woven through the story, and the next book is set up well without giving anything away.

I was not necessarily convinced by the love or the pairing, but enjoyed the writing and watching the story unfold.  Dani Prescott, as the would-be stalker turned lo

My heartstrings got a workout from a few of the characters in When Love Arrives!! Readers can expect healing, forgiveness, and restoration in an engaging and entertaining story.

Dani Prescott is a hurting and lonely young woman. She finds herself in quite a pickle when Brett notices her and then wants to spend time with her.

Brett Somers is at the point in his life when the scales are falling from his eyes. For the first tim

Who does Brett Somers think he is? Dani Prescott is sick of him lying. Brett has told anyone that listened that it was her mother's fault that his parents died in a plane crash. Dani Prescott also has lost her mother because of this crash. Dani realized that she is the only one that can fix this and show that it was not her mother's fault. What else can she do? He has seen her taking pictures and has asked her out. She cannot tell him that she was actually spying on him so she says okay. Brett r ...more

For my Christian Fiction readers, a word of caution. This isn't your typical Revell read and may be offensive to more sensitive readers. There's quite a bit of Christian content and talks about God's plans for the characters but there's also quite a bit of unacceptable leering and language related to the same characters (and a couple others). Other than the content, the writing is well crafted and the general plot is interesting with a tidy wrap-up, although the believability of it is a bit stre ...more

An engaging romance novel is what this! I didn't want to put this one down and if I didn't have to wake up at a decent time in the morning, I would have finished in one night. The way the author writes about the characters, with their different backgrounds and their own stories, is wonderful and I was hooked. This is my first book to read from Johnnie Alexander and I will read more of her books.

I enjoyed the first book more. This one is about Brett who is changing his life around. I didnt like him in the first novel so I wasnt sure how Id feel about reading his story.
Even though hes a different person, I didnt love him or Dani. Their characters lacked and I thought a lot of the book was slow.
