The simplest stitch--the most spectacular results!

Featuring a foreword from knitwear designer Holli Yeoh!

Garter stitch is the first stitch pattern we learn as knitters--and now, we celebrate the beauty and sophistication of this simple stitch with Garter Stitch Revival .

In this gorgeous collection, each project highlights garter stitch in its detail work, as a supporting role for other stitches, or as the star of the show. In projects such as Be True Fingerless Mitts and the Flapper Cloche, the beauty is in the details created with the use of the garter stitch. In the Beachcomber Braided Poncho, the Santa Monica Cardigan, and more, you'll discover how perfect the garter stitch can be for offsetting other stitch patterns. And when used as the main stitch in designs such as the Festival Halter Top and the Autumn Evening Shrug, the texture and lovely repetition result in stunning finished pieces.

Whether you've always loved the garter stitch or you're returning to an old friend, the twenty gorgeous projects in Garter Stitch Revival certainly show that it's a classic for a million beautiful reasons.

The 20 projects in this book lean heavily into the accessories/wrap category - and I honestly don't see many of us wearing wraps/shawls unless we're at a knitting conference... A couple patterns (poncho, cowl) would really benefit from a simple schematic. That said, most of the items are basic with hints of interest to jazz things up. Great that there is a range of gauges and lots of color photographs. Some of the darker yarns make it hard to see the stitch patterns. I don't think I'll be doing anything from this book but it does show that garter stitch can be the "main star in a design."

This is a nice book with attractive patterns and a good presentation. The patterns aren’t really my style, though. They’re very young. For knitters who want trendy projects.

Lovely patterns that include patterns for cowls, shawls, hat and gloves, and several really beautiful cardigans which feature garter stitch design accents.

If the patterns were as awesome as the photos, this would be something. As it was, I think the cover pattern is the only one I took away from this. The sizing for the attire was paltry.
