Misunderstood: Based on a True Story

Rate this book
Since early childhood, Laura was never allowed to express her feelings without being accused of backchatting. Her mother was suicidal, and her father liked his drink. To escape from all this, she would often daydream and go into a fantasy world of her own. Laura was often bullied at school until one day, she learnt to stick up for herself. As she grew up, she fell madly in love, only to be rejected when she was four and a half months pregnant and had to bring up her daughter on her own. She eventually made the biggest mistake of her life when she found herself trapped in a loveless marriage. Laura was divorced after three years, only to be trapped again when she met someone whom she believed could love her unconditionally.

Walking alone is never an easy journey. I think a lot of us find it’s easy to be misunderstood, but those who have experienced a rough childhood find it the hardest to trust those around us and let them in.

Throughout this book, I found myself relating more and more with Laura’s journey. It’s never easy to not feel as if you have anyone you can confide in, anyone you can trust. While turning inward makes it easier to protect ourselves from facing the hardships in our lives, it also makes it harder to experience the joys.

Overall, I found this book to be deeply emotional, a journey into the depths of not only the human psyche, but the human soul and what it means to find your place in this world.

a compelling story detailing hardship, faith and inspiration!
This book is a compelling tale detailing the many hardships the author has experienced throughout her lifetime. An inspirational story that is very well written, captivating, and compelling. I loved how faith intervened to usher the hardships and adversity into a  new light filled with hope. Highly recommended!
