So, this book is actually very similar to other titles like "The Writer's Market" in that it lists literal places you can sell your crafts. The other advice, such as how to take pictures, marketing, and other aspects to find success in this venture are decent, but really short.
to be clear, i'm NOT interested in selling my crafts or creating a business. i just paged thru it at the library and saw a section for online marketplaces and online communities and wanted to take a closer look at those sections as places to shop or reference patterns. so i'm not giving this book a rating.
-it has a big section listing in-person craft fairs, and thru the appendix i was able to look up those in my state. such as the edina art fair, elk river fall craft show, minne-faire: maker and diy exposition. so few listed in my area. disappointing as a reference book.
-the online marketplaces section had 4 pages listing 31 websites like cafepress, craftsy, etsy, folksy, spoonflower, and some details about them.
-the online communities section had 7 pages listing 57 guilds and associations with membership fees, and some free communities.
-sadly, a lot of the websites no longer exist 7 years after the book was published. which discouraged me from looking up more of them.
There are several short chapters of setting up and managing your (craft) business and the bulk of the book is a directory of websites or physical venues to sell your crafts. The business chapters are too superficial to be useful except for the most unschooled and I think many of the websites and venues (shows, fairs, magazines) may be out of date. So, maybe a pass on this one, I just flipped through this and read a couple articles.
