Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.
If you love history mixed with mythology and paranormal elements then this series is for you. The author cleverly mixes a sorcerer wolf hybrid Malcolm, as our somewhat dubious hero and pairs him with Sofia, a powerful but cursed witch known as a Bruxa. They first met 400 years ago whilst studying but Malcolm arrogantly chose to believe that power would be his saving grace whilst Sofia saw the bigger picture and walked away knowing she turned her back on love. Fast forward to present day and Malcolm can no longer ignore the fierce need he has for Sofia so tricks her into an alliance. Fate cannot be denied though and those whom Sofia is indebted to set an almost impossible task that will see these star crossed lovers risking everything. I will start by admitting I wasn't too keen on Malcolm initially. He is selfish, arrogant and generally needed a good shaking ! He accepts great power at a huge cost and yet still yearns for that which he turned away from. Sofia has always put love and duty first and her fierce determination to protect her village resonated with this reader. I admit I found it a tad difficult to believe in her feelings for Malcolm as he did/does possess a cold side ( sorcerer). However as I continued reading about the evil witches that feature in the story I started to enjoy seeing this couple reconnect and there's no doubt it's a relationship full of passion . What really made it for me though was seeing previous characters step up to help as it gave the series great continuity. As for the end? Well if you enjoy action with your paranormal then the epic battle will please you but for me it was all about the misaligned couple finally getting a chance at happiness. I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review Four and a half from me
But every time he did something thoughtful, her heart thawed just a little. It was still a giant chunk of ice, no question-but today had been a reminder of what he'd been like when they were younger. She'd fallen in love with him because he'd been kind and honorable. Once those qualities were gone, her love had followed. It didn't matter how handsome he was. But if he made an effort to be the man she'd once known? That would be harder to resist, even though she knew it would end in heartbreak.
I had a surprisingly hard time choosing a rating for this one. It was good, but it wasn't great. There were some really suspenseful, face-paced parts, but some parts dragged. I liked Sofia and I could appreciate her hesitation with Malcolm, but at times she sounded like a broken record. I liked Malcolm and understood why he acted like an asshole at times, but it was annoying that he could have easily explained it to Sofia but chose not to. As soon as Malcolm's mentor told him what it would take for him to be released from his curse, I knew the direction the rest of the story was heading, but I still got a little teary-eyed when my suspicions came true. So I was back-and-forth between really into the book and not so much. It was good, but it wasn't great. I actually think the last few chapters really saved it, and I probably could have skimmed through most of the middle. I did miss the banter that some of the other couples in this series had, Sofia and Malcolm were just a bit too serious, you didn't get to see them have any fun with each other. You saw them break up, then get back together through forced circumstance and strife. They got back together with that old "one-that-got-away" mentality, but this is 400 years later, they're different people. It seemed like it wouldn't matter what had happened in those centuries apart, they would have gotten together regardless. And that took some of genuineness (real word, I think?) out of their relationship. Regardless, if the author ever comes back and writes more for the series, I'll read it. The Mythean Arcana world really is interesting, and the mythology is what kept me coming back for more.
I find myself in a bit of a conundrum with Witch’s Fate. On the one hand it was an interesting and well written read with a great plot line and it added more depth to the Mythean Arcana world, and the prologue definitely peaked my interest, but I didn’t find myself falling down the rabbit hole like I have with the previous books in the series. I had the drive to finish it and find out what happened with Sofia and Malcolm, but that need to devour it was absent. But regardless of the lack of rabbit hole feeling, I did enjoy it.
I liked Sofia from the start. She’s strong, determined and sassy and her decision to follow her heart endeared her to me, though it did cause her pain. Her duty to Bruxa’s Eye is an inherited one and at times more of a burden than anything else, but she continues because she truly does care about the people within.
Malcolm took a lot long for me to like, not necessarily because of his decision in the beginning of the book, which didn’t endear me to him of course, but his arrogance just rubbed me raw. I understood what his end game was, but dear lord did he make some bad decisions, thankfully he does redeem himself and I found that he was almost as cuddly as his half brother Felix.
Their relationship gave me whiplash, but it was a necessary evil considering what fate would do to them should they even attempt to have one, though fate does end up having a damn good time with them. I’d love to go into detail but that would require to spoil some key points to their story, but in the end I liked how it all worked out.
Though I wasn’t as enthralled with this one as with the previous books, it is still a well written and thought out book. Ms. Hall’s world building skills are excellent and though the Mythean Arcana world is immense she does a great job of sticking with the issues at hand and not taking tangents when they aren’t necessary. This book can be read as a standalone, but considering that both Sofia and Malcolm make appearances in previous books and Malcolm is Felix’s half brother, I think it’s a good idea to read them if you haven’t already.
The Bottom Line: Though not my favorite of the series, Witch’s Fate is still an enjoyable read and a good addition to the series.

OK, I have a confession to make. I actually did not read all this book. Read about the first 11 chapters and felt it was dragging and so for some reason (since I have done this only about 3 times in my life) I skipped and read the last 4 chapters plus the epilogue (there are 21 chapter plus epilogue).
Guess what, loved the story, those first 11 chapters gave me all the background and built the characters. I probably missed a bit of subplots but bottom line is I got a great story, a great romance, an epic battle, and an awesome ending so what you get with this review is a 4 Star highly recommended novel that I skipped reading about 6 chapters. I always felt that no matter what, my reviews are always going to be honest as I can make them, this is a bit odd even for me .
OK, Malcolm and Sofia are a pair of star crossed lovers that had a bad breakup about 400 years ago and have gone their separate ways but that is about to come to an end. My problem with these two is that they did not really resonate with me as a very good couple but the limitations on this relationship is part of it (no you will have to read it to understand that one) BUT in those last 4+ chapters I read it become a GREAT romance (but remember the start crossed thing).
They have some of the most powerful witches in this world lined up against them so this is gonna be hard to survive and many may not so return your seats to their full upright positions and get ready for a bumpy ride.
Bottom Line: So in one of the strangest reviews I have written, I give 4 Stars and a Highly Recommended rating to a book in which I skipped a large portion of, yeah, that is weird even for me but it was an exceptional story and you are gonna LOVE the ending LOL
NOTE: You can get the first 4 books in this series for FREE if you are a KindleUnlimited subscriber, it is listed at this address http://www.amazon.com/Mythean-Arcana-...
Basically Malcom in an abusive bastard, who gets Sofia in trouble with a clan of powerful witches, helps her, then demands sexual favours in recompense. He’s controlling, and basically doesn’t give a ship if he can get his d!ck wet. I should have just stopped at that point, but I was determined to finish this series.
“You can fight me. But I warn you, I’ll like it,” he rasped at her ear.
Eww, nope. Her repeatedly telling him no, him continuing to push her and then saying this crap? None of this is sexy. Super rapey. Then he repeatedly tells her he’ll never love her. Wow. What a man.
And for some reason he asks her name and doesn’t know what she is, despite the fate he said it in the previous pages and dated her for six months in the past. There’s a page of it that makes zero sense. I thought maybe it was a flashback scene, but nope. Repeatedly mentions present day things. I am WTFing this one.
I really hated Malcolm when the book started. Hell, I disliked him most of the way through. But the Last part of the book..well, I don't hat Malcolm any more. I loved Sophia. Her strength and independence were lovely.
When Malcom chose power over her, Sofia Viera vowed to forget him and it worked for four hundred years until he forced her to return to him in this exciting paranormal romance.
Despite fate, Malcolm refuses to be separated from Sofia any longer and the reader can’t help but get caught up this explosive romance as Malcolm attempts to draw Sofia to him and unwittingly unleashes a force of evil that will destroy everything she loves. The chemistry is a bubbling cauldron of heat and the sex scenes are scorching but the relationship is most volatile as they tempt fate and each other which has quite a bit of emotional turmoil flowing from the pages. These strong compelling characters draw the readers in and bewitch them with the story while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, action and romance.
Spine tingling tension builds to exhilarating proportions as the danger escalates when Malcolm sets off a coven of powerful witches who crave destruction which places everything that Sofia loves in path of evil which adds to all the relationship pressures making it extra spicy with some heated clashes. The well written scenes and details bring the story to life making it easy for the reader to become absorbed in the intriguing events and ensures that the reader wants to know all of Malcolm and Sofia’s story.
The Mythean Arcana series has lots of fascinating and interesting elements that make for some intriguing differences and I was completely caught up in Witch’s Fate which certainly took advantage of those differences and kept me on the edge of my seat and I am looking forward to reading more adventures in this mesmerizing world.
Setting: Earth – I say that because they seemed to travel a lot
Main Characters: Sofia, Malcolm
Supporting Characters:
Summary: To become a warlock takes sacrifice, one that Sofia wasn’t willing to make. Because the love of her life, Malcolm, does make the sacrifice they end up going their separate ways. Now, centuries later, Malcolm forces Sofia to seek him out by stealing a tribute artifact that she needs to give the High Witches to keep her village from being destroyed. As the two race the clock to appease the High Witches they find that their love can’t be withheld even with the curse of the warlock.
Thoughts: I really enjoyed this story and plan on reading more by Ms. Hall. Adventure, some suspense, surprise, and scorching HOT; what more could you ask for?

highly unlikely after Malcom made the decision he did back in 1606 when they were both training to be Warlocks. Suddenly thrust together again, through some wily shenanigans on Malcom’s part, they find attraction still exists but the hurdle to overcome in order for them to have “more” still exists, too. This paranormal adventure romance with a mystery to solve, a battle to be fought, death to deal with and fate playing a huge part in the story brings some of the characters together again for a few scenes, provides some steamy interactions between Viera and Malcom and provides tension that kept me reading without stopping from beginning to end. Ms Hall grows as a writer with each book I read and I look forward to her next book whenever it may come out.
Thank you to the author for this book to read and review.
By far this one in the series is my absolute favorite. The struggles and emotions that are in this book feel so real. To be forced to battle your own feelings because of what may come from it would be very hard. Sofia only wants what's best for her little community and will do anything to keep everyone safe even if it means to give up everything she holds dear. Malcolm realizes he only wants one thing in his life but it may just be too late. When Sofia and Malcolm are forced together after so many years apart they find that old feelings never really left. Fates are against them and tragedy is inevitable. Linsey Hall really knows how to pull someone in and capture them, never letting go. I can't wait for more of this series.
I enjoyed this book for what it was. Admittedly, Malcolm did pull a dick move at the beginning but he more than made up for it by the end. I felt the heat between them but there was absolutely no need to keep harping on how small Sofia was. I also liked that they hadn't tangled the sheets before since that added to the intensity. Since this book came as part of a box set, I didn't know about the series but I'm glad that it is a total stand alone. Even if it is the seventh book and probably all the previous couples were jammed into it, it didn't take away from the story and the previous characters served an honest purpose and weren't just padding. If I have the opportunity to read another from this series, I'll surely give it a shot.
I'm not really sure where to start with this book. I felt like the book/plot was missing depth and backstory. The author kept hinting and bringing up parts of a back story but never really fully disclosed the necessary parts to create a full picture of the world the characters live in. The plots based around love and power and a curse that comes with the ultimate power of becoming a warlock. The curse is becoming an oath breaker- any oath, promise, or whatnot will never be fulfilled because fate. The author included love as being an oath. I can see how marriage is an oath, but love.. I just wasn't following the authors logic. The book was a slow read. I'm sorry, it just wasn't for me.
So huge fan of this author…I have read and re-read her books many times…Like I need to visit old friends….this book was hard for me to start…and I have never had that problem before with this author. This whole series is full of sex…like hot sexy stuff. I like romance and a bit sex but wow (double wow) with this series. The main characters in this book at first where hard for me to relate to…like the entire first few chapters I was like he is such an ASS and why is she even looking at him… So for the very first time I took a break from one of this author’s books and came back at another time. But somewhere in the middle of this book I started to relate to the female and male main character and at the end I was so happy for them! It is a very good read even if it took me a bit. I don’t know if I will be visiting this series as often, if ever. it is hot and heavy sex stuff (like porn) and only one book in the series to relate to the main character as in the past you really get to know them with this author with multiple books. 5 stars for me, I will keep reading this series if it continues because the author is amazing. The way she incorprtates history into books is a big draw for me.
Action, romance, drama and loyalty is everywhere in this book. Sophia and Malcolm were in the Warlock apprentice program together and fell in love but Warlocks were Oath breakers. They could not ever have a relationship or promise anything to anyone as they were destined to break it or fate would deal a penalty. Sophia opted out but Malcolm didn’t. Sophia was devastated that he chose power over her. Centuries later Malcolm steals a Demon blade from Sophia to help his brother and doesn’t return it knowing that Sophia would come to him to get it back. It was the tribute to the High Witches and the tribute was late. Now they had to deal with a retrieving a new tribute or death and destruction would be wrought against Bruxa’s Eye, Sophia’s village. This story was amazing and the characters are strong and the friendships awesome. I loved this book and series. Read it and you won’t regret it!
With this being the last book of the series (even though each one was about a different couple) it has both a great love story and a great conclusion to the series. Defying fate seems to be a common theme and Linsey Hall did not disappoint in this one. Also it was fun to see all the characters from the other books in the series come in to help with the big battle at the end. Although I wish there was more books I really enjoyed the epilogue and getting to see all the characters were together and got to have their happily ever after especially after all the hell each of them went through to get there. Just like the others in this series the spice level was off the charts.
It took me a long time to get into this one. The first half the main characters say the word "bastard" like 150 times. It became a joke for me.. like it really took me out of the story bc it was so noticeable. I knew every time the main character would get mad she'd call Malcolm a bastard.. then when it switched pov, he'd say "I know I'm a bastard." It was like the author had just learned this word and wanted to use it as much as possible. But once that subsided, near the middle, the story was fine. I enjoyed reading it. The climax and resolution weren't amazing.. almost too easy.. but you got what you wanted in the end. Anyway, I'm not mad I read this. It was an easy read once you get past all the bastards.

This by far was the most emotionally intense book in the whole series! A love that was taken for granted and turned down for power.....how can someone recover from this and how can the other party honestly and truly make amends! This was a nail biting, page turning, who-needs-sleep, fantastic story beautifully tying in all the favorite characters from the series for an epic HEA! Bravo Linsey Hall.....bra-freaking-vo!
Don’t read if you expect to do anything else, ever again!
I’ve read 20 of her books in one week! I can’t sleep, decorate for Christmas, work - I’m a mess! I don’t know why she’s not as big as some of the other paranormal writers, cause quite frankly, she’s the best! She creates such a vivid world and multi-layered characters! If you’re interested in Mythology, this is your author.
I enjoyed this entire series. It is well written with great world building. Characters a fully fleshed and storyline is fast paced. I do have to say that of this series and even all of this authors other books, this one was actually my least favorite, only because of the main character Malcolm and how he pushed himself sexually. It really was borderline forced and I didn’t care for it.
Linsey is a wonderful writer. Meshing the fantastical with the fantasy so well. When reading her books it's like full submersion into the worlds she creates. Although she ends the books so well, with proper closure, I still mourn every one of them because I never want to leave. I've devoured so many of her books and series within the last couple months and look forward to many more.
What a ride. I would recommend This book to adult women...not for teens! This series was amazing with very well written insatiable sex screens! The descriptions were on point, poignant and amazingly detailed . Could not put them down! Would love to see more stories out of this series! Like the librarian.... what is her story ?
I loved this entire series. Loved getting to know the characters better throughout the series; I love that the main characters are all connected even if it's in a small way. These were all amazing paranormal fantasy type books full of twists, adventure, and love. Interesting from beginning to end and also well-written.
As I said, I knew I didn't want to finish! This series was TOTALLY AMAZING!! I have LOVED every book I have read! And will continue to read them! Thank you so very much!!
Many twists and turns in the plot with a happy ending...I liked this whole series because of the trials that the main characters had to go thru to be together.
Gods Goddesses, DemiGods, Supernatural beings its got it all. Along with action and adventures, Great sex, and Happy Ever After, what more do you need to snuggle up with.
Until this book. I kept turning pages through the copied and pasted (change character names) sex scenes as the books. I dont know what happened. I couldnt put down the others and a couple chapters into this one I was disgusted and couldnt read any further
Working from home has given me the time needed to read. I have just read all 7 books back to back. I have enjoyed all 7 books in the Mythean series and look forward to the next one.
I have read several of Linsey Hall`s book. This series is completely different than her others. HOT and steamy stories. Action filled, and tear jerking moments. I can't wait to read the next book. When it comes out.
This is a really good series. I like the flow of the series as each character is developed. As you read you become a part of the world MS. Hall has created. Great job!! Thank you!!
