This was an interesting story, but I'm used to happy ever afters. I definitely didn't like the ending.
Jargon by Max Brand Feb 11, 2023 I guess I didn't understand the ending. Some stories are like this. Great detail in the beginning and then the ending come so fast, you're still confused when it's done. The parts I understood I liked.

Again the ending was lacking for me. But the rest of the story was very interesting.
The small biographies of these writers were almost as interesting as their books!
The narrators did excellent work! I enjoyed them very much!
As with all short story compilations, it is a mixed bag. "Tappan's Burro" is easily the best western short story I have ever read and I am so stoked to read everything Zane Grey has ever written now.
