I loved the last vol, then this one came along. Why Juist, why?

The conclusion of Mrs. Audrey's story is terribly bittersweet before it shifts to the tale of the doctor, which reads like a combination of Dorian Gray and Jack the Ripper. The abrupt shift works well for the overall story, however, and going so quickly from the sadness of Audrey to the horror at what come next is not an experience I'd recommend having while you're waiting for your class to come in - unless, of course, you need to prove to them that you're human.
