Now THIS is what I call fabulous fantasy romance! Action, conflict, heat and page after page this one revved up and powered through with me hanging on every word.
DARKNESS UNDONE by Georgia L. Hunter everything I adore in paranormal, over-the-top reading! From Reynner, an immortal warrior who has survived the twisted attentions of a goddess and has no room for a female in his life, let alone, a mere human, to Eve, who is the key to finding an ancient artifact and unlocking the frigid warrior’s heart.
Can an immortal and a human find the happiness they deserve? Will their combined forces be enough to find the artifact that could help save the world? Will their time together be enough to last an eternity?
Georgia L. Hunter has absolutely hit the bullseye on riveting reading and a sizzling romance that began as a cold as ice necessity. I actually didn’t like Reynner so much in the beginning, but his character became one of my favorites! Filled with heart, heat and intensity, I highly recommend this one for anyone who wants a solid read that leads into what promises to be a solid series!!

È con immenso piacere che oggi vi parlo di L’oscurità spezzata, primo volume della nuovissima serie Warlords of Empyrea di Georgia Lyn Hunter.
Prima di entrare nel vivo della storia, mi preme ringraziare la Hope Edizioni, che ha scelto di far sbarcare nel nostro Paese questa talentuosa autrice, e chi si è dedicato al progetto grafico della fantastica cover. Dulcis in fundo, un grazie particolare va alla persona che ha curato la traduzione: senza di te, molte lettrici (me inclusa) sarebbero perse!
Prima di concentrarci su questo volume, è necessario premettere che la serie della Hunter si inserisce, ed è strettamente collegata, con la Fallen Guardian Series, i cui primi tre libri sono già disponibili nel nostro Paese. Anche se questo capitolo riguarda personaggi solo nominati nella serie appena citata, sarebbe opportuno leggere prima i tomi già pubblicati, in modo da avere già un quadro del worldbuilding creato dall’autrice.
Detto ciò, possiamo cominciare! Il nostro protagonista è Reynner, un guerriero empyreo millenario, la cui missione è ritrovare un antico manufatto che rappresenta l’unica possibilità di salvare il suo regno. In pieno stile dell’autrice, anche questo personaggio ha un passato travagliato: legato a una dea vendicativa, Inanna, che lo ha marchiato come sua proprietà, Reynner deve ogni giorno combattere con il dolore che la gelosa dea gli infligge per i continui rifiuti di piegarsi alla sua volontà.
Il guerriero non ha, quindi, alcuna fiducia nelle donne e l’ultima cosa che desidera è dover collaborare con un’umana, Eve Leighton, che sembra essere l’unica in grado di trovare l’antico manufatto perduto.
Eve, dal canto suo, non è poi così ordinaria. Pur essendo umana, ha acquisito degli strani poteri quando un incidente l’ha lasciata con l’abilità di vedere nella mente degli altri attraverso il contatto fisico. Il dolore che questa capacità le provoca l’ha portata a evitare qualsiasi tipo d’intimità e a ridurre al minimo la cerchia delle sue amicizie. Nonostante ciò, quando l’algido guerriero sostiene che lei è la salvatrice del suo mondo, decide di aiutarlo.
L’attrazione tra Eve e Reynner è innegabile sin dal primo incontro, ma il cuore dell’empyreo sembra essere davvero impossibile da conquistare.
Devo ammettere che ho capito che avrei amato questo libro già dal principio, quando l’autrice ha esplicitamente dedicato il volume “alle lettrici che amano gli eroi spezzati”. E io sono, senza ombra di dubbio, una di quelle.
D’altro canto, è impossibile non innamorarsi di Reynner. Voglio limitare al minimo i dettagli del vissuto che l’autrice ha pensato per lui, ma sappiate che ci troviamo di fronte a un personaggio che, da un lato diffida delle donne, dall’altro si ritiene indegno di essere amato. Entrambe le motivazioni lo portano a respinge in maniera quasi crudele la nostra Eve che, dal canto suo, presume che il rifiuto dipenda dalle sue imperfezioni fisiche, di cui tanto si vergogna.
Inutile dirvi che ho trovato i due protagonisti perfetti insieme e che non ho potuto non fare il tifo per la loro relazione.
L’oscurità spezzata conferma poi l’abilità dell’autrice, già evidente nella sua precedente serie, di creare un universo di personaggi secondari altrettanto validi. Ho adorato soprattutto le due care amiche di Eve, e ho il vago sentore che sentiremo parlare di nuovo di loro molto presto…
La Hunter non pecca neppure nella capacità d’intrecciare, con logica e originalità, le storie dei nuovi protagonisti con quelle di personaggi già conosciuti e amati. Ammetto che mi si è scaldato il cuore quando sono apparsi Echo e Aethan, protagonisti di Ultima resa, primo volume della serie Fallen Guardian.
Per tutte queste ragioni, non posso che riconoscere 5 fenici piene a questa nuova pubblicazione della Hunter, e pregare la Hope Edizioni di non farci attendere troppo per i volumi successivi!

Fantastic read!
My applause to Georgia Lyn Hunter. Her writing skill amazes me. The sentence structure within a dialogue is utterly refreshing. I have come to admire the talent of authors. I'm continually impressed with their ability to tell stories. However, most of the time you have to put aside poor grammar, extensive detail that's nothing more than fill of senseless chatter, and so much of he said, she said.
Not with this author, her stories flow like a gentle river filling your mind with all that comes with the balance of action, narrative, and dialogue. There is no doubt that Georgia Lyn Hunter is an excellent storyteller.
Reynner... Our hero is a blonde haired hunk of honey. But, he’s also like the others an emotionally broken Empyrean, and he’s harsh, and completely self-loathing. He thought he had to exclude himself from love and a relationship. – Full of Self-sacrifice.
Eve... Our heroine had no self-confidence due to her disability, but she still had plenty of sass. She fell in love with someone that could not respond the same way. – Full of Self-deprecation.
Best line in a scene...."Yes, I'm very sure you didn't." Usually, my favorite lines are humorous. Not, this time. They were spoken out of hurt, and a heart that needed to numb the pain.
The story... Page one started out with a quick hook for me. Having read the Fallen Guardians books I understood exactly who our hero was, and the blend of both series came together perfectly. A villain appears right on page 1, and I'm instantly moved to excitement. By the end of chapter 3, Eve said her heart was pounding, uh-huh, and so was mine! The suspense of who would make the first attack on Eve gripped me. At one point I got goosebumps thinking about what Eve might go through for Reynner. The relationship was slow building, but kept me wanting to read faster to get to it. And, I was not disappointed when the good stuff happened. This story, of the Empyrean Warriors was an emotional one for me. Maybe because I'm invested in all the characters. I can't wait for the next warrior story rather it be the Fallen Guardians or the Warlords of Empyrea.

Ho inziato questo libro subito dopo averlo ricevuto, perchè avendo letto e amato i precedenti ero curiosa e fremevo dalla voglia di tuffarmi in questa nuova avventura. Ammetto però che l'inizio è stato un pochino frenato dato che i suoi protagonisti non mi hanno conquistata fin da subito, ma per ogni storia che si rispetti le cose devono procedere con calma e quindi ho continuato la lettura, e di fatti già dal sesto capitolo entriamo nel vivo della storia e sono stata catapultata nella storia e mi sembrava di essere lì affianco a Eve e Reynner nella ricerca della pergamena, ero con loro nei momenti di difficoltà, e durante quei momenti di serenità. Ma come ogni storia ci sono anche degli antagonisti, che entrano subito nella lista dei personaggi più odiati in una storia da parte dei lettori.
Con questa autrice non si può stare mai tranquilli perchè ogni riga riserva qualche sorpresa. Dopo la metà circa del romanzo ho compreso il significato che si cela dietro il titolo del romanzo.

Ms. Hunter amazes once again! A tale of desire versus duty and love overcoming all. Darkness Undone is a fast-paced and captivating read that had me clamoring for more. I am craving more Warlords of Empyrea and, if it's possible, I think I love these characters even more than her Fallen Guardians.. Highly recommended!

A beautifully told story with fast paced, heart gribbing twists and turns. Loved Eve from the moment she meets Reynner! Couldn't get enough of their chemistry and the real emotions of feeling flawed and imperfect! 10/10!

I’m not even sure why I read this as I don’t read fantasy but I really enjoyed it.
Reynner and Eve. My curiosity was piqued with these two.
I’ll admit I did have to look up words I didn’t understand through no fault of the author as this is a genre I don’t normally read.
Well done to the author in capturing my attention and holding it throughout. I wouldn’t say this is a genre I will read loads of but this author has such a way of storytelling that I’m gonna read more from her.

Le fan del paranormal romance vecchio stampo lo ameranno; se cercate una lettura appassionante ma senza troppi scossoni, fa sicuramente per voi! L'oscurità spezzata, il nuovo romanzo di Georgia Lyn Hunter, in uscita oggi per la Hope Edizioni, è il primo volume di una serie paranormal romance che si innesta nella precedente dedicata ai Fallen Guardian.

I can't get enough of the Empyrean Immortals. The Author, Georgia Lyn Hunter didn't disappointment in her fourth installment of these flawed immortals. In Darkness Undone, the main character Reynner has spent an insufferable amount of time in his own personal hell. Warding off the advances of a goddess that yearns for him as her personal boy toy, although, Reynner is hell bent on rebuking her.
Reynner and his immortal cohorts are on the lookout for an artifact that can save their world, and they find it in a lowly human named Eve. Action and fast paced fight scenes abound and I became enthralled with each swipe of the page. Ms. Hunter is a strong and prolific writer, which captures the reader not only in the turbulent action, but also in the hot, sizzling intimate sequences.
Since I've read all of the Empyrean Series, I'm having a hard time deciding which formidable, delectable, and tantilizing Immortal I love the best. If you like this type of genre, then you'll be mesmerized by Darkness Undone. I highly recommend this book.

WOW! Ms. Georgia nailed it again! From the start up to the last, I was hooked on this book. The first part on the book is ok, but as the story goes, it keeps getting better and better!
I kind of don't like Reynner on the first part, but as I kept on reading, I started to like him more and more. Because of his mission to save his world, he will do anything to succeed. But with the mean goddess trailing/making his life hell and Eve making him feel, things will get more complicated.
Anyway, in this book, I saw some of my favorite characters in the other books. =)
What I love about this book is that it's full of surprises and there's no dull moments in every chapter! Loved it! Ms. Georgia really rocked it!
I can't wait for more of the Warlords of Empyrea!

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. The relationship that develops between Eve and Reynner is perfect, and while I couldn't wait to find out what happens to them in the end, I felt a pang of loss when it did. While I loved the other books in the Guardians world, Reynner and Eve's story is the best yet. I can't wait for the next one!!!

Detto ciò, possiamo cominciare! Il nostro protagonista è Reynner, un guerriero empyreo millenario, la cui missione è ritrovare un antico manufatto che rappresenta l’unica possibilità di salvare il suo regno. In pieno stile dell’autrice, anche questo personaggio ha un passato travagliato: legato a una dea vendicativa, Inanna, che lo ha marchiato come sua proprietà, Reynner deve ogni giorno combattere con il dolore che la gelosa dea gli infligge per i continui rifiuti di piegarsi alla sua volontà.
Il guerriero non ha, quindi, alcuna fiducia nelle donne e l’ultima cosa che desidera è dover collaborare con un’umana, Eve Leighton, che sembra essere l’unica in grado di trovare l’antico manufatto perduto.
Eve, dal canto suo, non è poi così ordinaria. Pur essendo umana, ha acquisito degli strani poteri quando un incidente l’ha lasciata con l’abilità di vedere nella mente degli altri attraverso il contatto fisico. Il dolore che questa capacità le provoca l’ha portata a evitare qualsiasi tipo d’intimità e a ridurre al minimo la cerchia delle sue amicizie. Nonostante ciò, quando l’algido guerriero sostiene che lei è la salvatrice del suo mondo, decide di aiutarlo.
L’attrazione tra Eve e Reynner è innegabile sin dal primo incontro, ma il cuore dell’empyreo sembra essere davvero impossibile da conquistare.
Devo ammettere che ho capito che avrei amato questo libro già dal principio, quando l’autrice ha esplicitamente dedicato il volume “alle lettrici che amano gli eroi spezzati”. E io sono, senza ombra di dubbio, una di quelle.
D’altro canto, è impossibile non innamorarsi di Reynner. Voglio limitare al minimo i dettagli del vissuto che l’autrice ha pensato per lui, ma sappiate che ci troviamo di fronte a un personaggio che, da un lato diffida delle donne, dall’altro si ritiene indegno di essere amato. Entrambe le motivazioni lo portano a respinge in maniera quasi crudele la nostra Eve che, dal canto suo, presume che il rifiuto dipenda dalle sue imperfezioni fisiche, di cui tanto si vergogna.
Inutile dirvi che ho trovato i due protagonisti perfetti insieme e che non ho potuto non fare il tifo per la loro relazione.
L’oscurità spezzata conferma poi l’abilità dell’autrice, già evidente nella sua precedente serie, di creare un universo di personaggi secondari altrettanto validi. Ho adorato soprattutto le due care amiche di Eve, e ho il vago sentore che sentiremo parlare di nuovo di loro molto presto…
La Hunter non pecca neppure nella capacità d’intrecciare, con logica e originalità, le storie dei nuovi protagonisti con quelle di personaggi già conosciuti e amati. Ammetto che mi si è scaldato il cuore quando sono apparsi Echo e Aethan, protagonisti di Ultima resa, primo volume della serie Fallen Guardian.
Per tutte queste ragioni, non posso che riconoscere 5 fenici piene a questa nuova pubblicazione della Hunter, e pregare la Hope Edizioni di non farci attendere troppo per i volumi successivi!

È con immenso piacere che oggi vi parlo di L’oscurità spezzata, primo volume della nuovissima serie Warlords of Empyrea di Georgia Lyn Hunter.
Prima di entrare nel vivo della storia, mi preme ringraziare la Hope Edizioni, che ha scelto di far sbarcare nel nostro Paese questa talentuosa autrice, e chi si è dedicato al progetto grafico della fantastica cover. Dulcis in fundo, un grazie particolare va alla persona che ha curato la traduzione: senza di te, molte lettrici (me inclusa) sarebbero perse!

L’Oscurità Spezzata è il primo romanzo di una serie paranormal romance per adulti ambientata nello stesso universo della serie Fallen Guardian.
Ogni volume scritto dall’autrice ha protagonisti principali diversi, ma la Hunter è una di quelle autrici che si diverte ad incastrate più saghe, quindi se volete godervi la lettura senza tralasciare nessun dettaglio sui personaggi secondari ricorrenti, e soprattutto non volete spoilerarvi nulla, il mio consiglio è quello di leggere i volumi nell’ordine corretto.
Io li ho letti tutti e sono contenta che la casa editrice abbia optato per questo ordine di pubblicazione, soprattutto perché sono presenti alcune rivelazioni che riguardano un personaggio di cui ho già letto la storia (non vi dico chi, ma potete intuirlo facilmente se ci pensate), quelle scene mi sono piaciute tanto, quindi complimenti alla Hunter per come ha intrecciato le cose!
I protagonisti di questo volume sono Reynner, guerriero immortale empireo, e la giovane artista mortale Eve.
Reynner è alla ricerca di un antico artefatto di cui il suo mondo ha un disperato bisogno per sopravvivere, e per trovarlo ha bisogno di trovare la predestinata mortale in grado di rintracciarlo.
La prescelta sembra essere proprio Eve, un’artista newyorkese di venticinque anni con una dote particolare. In seguito ad un incidente stradale avvenuto una decina di anni prima, Eve possiede il dono (che lei vive come una maledizione) di entrare nella testa delle persone toccandole. Per quello indossa dei guanti e non ha contatti fisici con nessuno. Lei mi ha fatto molto tenerezza, ha un bel rapporto con le sue migliori amiche, ma essendo orfana questa mancanza di contatti intimi ha influito molto sulla sua vita. Ciononostante è una donna forte, coraggiosa e non si tira indietro se può aiutare.
Reynner ha il fascino tipico del protagonista immortale e tormentato. In un passato molto lontano è stato tradito con l’inganno da una dea subdola e vendicativa e ne sta pagando ancora le conseguenze, per tale ragione non può più permettersi di fidarsi di una donna. È anche un uomo spezzato dai sensi di colpa che porta sulle spalle e con cui verrà a patti nel corso della trama.
Lui mi è piaciuto molto, il rapporto che si sviluppa a gradi con Eve è ben costruito, c’è una gran tensione sessuale nella storia e le cose non si consumano in fretta esattamente come preferisco.
A me poi fanno impazzire le situazioni in cui il protagonista maschile cerca di resistere ai propri impulsi e desideri per il bene della propria compagna, dimostra più di tante parole quanto realmente ci tenga a lei.
La penna della Hunter è intrigante e scorrevole e i suoi dialoghi frizzanti, nella narrazione sono presenti azione, sentimenti, questioni in sospeso, sensualità e non mancano le rivelazioni inaspettate che influiranno anche sulla storyline di fondo.
Anche se la storia romantica dei due personaggi principali arriva ad una sua chiusura in questo volume, ci sono ancora degli aspetti che legano le due serie che devono essere risolti e che mettono le basi per i volumi successivi. E io non vedo l’ora di leggerli!
Se amate il paranormal romance e i personaggi tormentati è una lettura consigliata!

This was an awesome story! I loved it!!! This is the first book in the Warlords of Empyrea but it is connected to the Fallen Guardians World series. It can be read by itself but you do get some added enjoyment of seeing old characters if you have read the other books in that series. Reynner and Eve are great characters. Reynner is a damaged man and has a really hard time trusting, especially women. He was betrayed very badly and is still dealing and constantly reminded of that mistake. He is trying to find the human woman who can help save their world. Eve is that woman (though their is a great twist at the end). Eve is a very giving person that when she touches someone with her hands uncovered she sees their thoughts and memories. It is not pleasant for her and will actually make her lose consciousness. She gained these powers trying to save her parents from a car accident when she was younger. Eve accidentally sees some of Reynner's memories of his time in hell and the betrayal that happened to him and it helps her understand Reynner's distrust of her and all women and gives her some patience for him. They are both drawn to each other and have a hard time staying away but Reynner's past hurts continue to cause them problems. I really liked how the relationship was built between the two of them. Their interactions are great. There were times that I wanted to smack them both because if they had just finished their thoughts they could have saved themselves a few problems but it was also totally understandable why they didn't. It never felt like it was just to drag the story out. It truly fit the characters and the story. The sex is explicit but not very frequent. There is a lot of sexual tension. There is plenty of action to keep your attention and wondering how things are going to unfold. I was pulled into this story from the beginning and I didn't want to leave. The twist at the end is not one I really saw coming but I'm very excited for the next book and where this is going to take the story!

Eve Leighton has had what she considers a disability since the car accident that took the lives of her parents. Her hands have a lot of scar tissue from burns, but also if she touches anyone with her bare hands she gets pulled into their thoughts and feelings. Not being able to touch anyone has contributed to her being unable to have a relationship. Her happiness is only complete when she is working on her metal sculptures.
Reynner is an immortal warrior whose task it is to find the human female who holds the key to finding the Stone of Light. If he has to seduce the knowledge from her he will, but he has no real desire for women. They are all untrustworthy and manipulative. He has suffered for millenniums at the hands of a goddess who has bound him to her.
This is a really fast paced, magical journey. Our tortured hero is pulled in so many directions and takes much more than his share of blame for the troubles surrounding them. Our heroine might be a puny mortal but she is a lot stronger than even she believes. I loved every page of this and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Georgia Lyn Hunter has done it again with “Darkness Undone” a first in her Warlords of Empyrea series. She has a knack for writing damaged stubborn heroes and she doesn't disappoint with Reynner. He has his own demons he's fighting, not just the demoniis, but the ones he's fighting internally along with a vengeful goddess, Inanna. Eve has her own demons she is fighting from her past, they are truly made for each other. They just have to chip a way at each others defenses. This story doesn't disappoint and we learn more about Empryea and we get to see a few of the guardians from Ms Hunter's other series, Fallen Guardians, which I loved. I hope to see more of Aeren and North in the books to come. I highly recommend this book and her Fallen Guardians series, you won't be disappointed.

Nailed It !!! 5 stars all the way!
Reynner is excitingly DARK , Steamy and Unpredictable.. While as Eve is beautiful , Brilliant and Unforgettable, They both are just witty and charming . Reynner and Eve have a past they would rather forget , but together they can heat up a room with just one touch. This book has so many twist and heart stopping moments all in one. It leaves the next book hard to wait for ~ Georgia Lynn is a MASTER at fantasy writing. I bought the first book and have been 100 percent hooked !! Thanks for sharing you world of fantasy with us <3

Amazing
What can I say other than Georgia Lyn Hunter mind is amazing. The world she created sucks you and doesn't want to release you til you have read from start to finish. When it finished I wished there was more pages to stay lost it this world. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions from wanting to slap sense into the main characters to basking in the love they have. Truly a great read and now I'm on to the next book

Not too bad a story. It was a bit slow at times but definitely an interesting new paranormal series. I may stick it out through the next one in the series. It's the villain of this story so I guess there's always another side to every story.
I've been working 16 hours today so I am just too tired to write a long review. I did like the protectiveness and possessiveness of the hero. I like when a hero growls over his woman. Sue me. LOL

This was quite an intense read. My goodness, to describe Reynner as a “Tortured hero” is as apt as to call Grand Canyon “a rather big hole in a ground”. Ms Hunter does have tendency to put her protagonists through the meat grinder and maybe that is why the HEA for them turns up so much sweeter. Looking forward to the next book.

Beautiful.
